Comfortable in the end, but I lost the first 3 days trying to fix issues that were unacceptable.
Pros:

This is a grand old hotel, with high ceilings and quality furniture, but quite obviously from a different era. Because of that, it's not without its problems, but the friendly and helpful staff moved swiftly to make things better. A nice restaurant with a good all-round breakfast - shame it was vegetarian restaurant !

Cons:

The bathroom was tired with a colour scheme from the 90's and a shower over the bath. It had the appearance of being dirty due to badly stained grout tiles and a wooden door that was almost rotten. It also had a dysfunctional wash basin plug which kept jamming leaving a basin full of used water. The view from the window was mostly of the back of a scruffy neighbouring tower block. When I checked the pictures of the bathroom and window view as advertised with booking.com, they simply didn't match the standard I was led to believe I was expecting for a superior double room. I complained to the management on my first full day and was moved swiftly to a room which represented the advertised pictures. 6 hours later the water to that room and a number of other rooms was shut off for almost 24 hours. I complained again about the mass inconvenience and was moved a second time, now upgraded to a junior suite as a peace offering. Whilst checking the advertised pictures of the room I had selected with booking.com, I noticed that the price for the 7 days that I had reserved was being offered at £231. Having paid £325 on the previous day, I was mortified and wrote a complaint to booking,com immediately via the 'contact customer services option' . Sadly, I am yet received a reply.

Idk just bad stay
Cons:

Room was okay.. bathroom need proper deep clean, so ick! Jamban cannot use, no water at for my 1night sray! Need hassle to ask for gayung and all.. NO HEATER!

Overall, the stay was disappointing due to poor maintenance despite a good location.
Pros:

The location of the hotel is convenient and easy to access nearby areas in Penang. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were polite and helpful. The room was relatively quiet during my stay, which was appreciated.

Cons:

The overall maintenance of the hotel is very poor and does not meet 4-star expectations. The room (2211) had several issues, including an old bathroom, leaking water from the toilet, and visible dust on cupboards, indicating a lack of proper cleaning.

The lobby washroom was extremely unclean and poorly maintained, which was very disappointing and below the general standards in Malaysia.

Breakfast options were very limited and repetitive, mostly vegetarian with only eggs available daily. The selection did not feel like a proper hotel buffet and was not worth the value.

Overall, the hotel feels outdated and not well maintained, which affected the overall experience.
