Perfect stay for family of 5
Pros:

Friendly staff, rooms were clean and cleaned daily, great breakfast - cereal/bagels/toast but perfect for our needs 🙂 Close to buses and BART.

Cons:

Location is convenient but there were some sad scenes on the street. High levels of drug use and homelessness evident. Keep your head down and they'll ignore you.

Die Lage war absolut eklig und gruselig. Die Betten total unbequem.

Unser Zimmer war groß. Es gab Pflegeprodukte. Alles war recht ordentlich.

Die Lage war gruselig. Sobald es dunkel wurde haben wir die Menschen draußen schreien hören. Tagsüber lagen direkt vor dem Eingang des Hotels irgendwelche Leute, auch teilweise in ihren eigenen Exkrementen. Ging man die Straße links hoch war die Straße voll mit Hinterlassenschaften von Menschen, es stank bestialisch.

Die Betten waren sehr unbequem. Wir haben immernoch Rückenschmerzen.

Worst stay in my life ever.
Pros:

I had a very disappointing and stressful experience at this hotel. The room had a strong damp, musty smell and did not feel clean at all. The bedding was also very uncomfortable, especially the pillows, which were not standard. I could not rest my head properly and ended up with neck pain.

The biggest issue was the noise. Throughout the entire night, there were constant sounds of shouting and fighting, along with frequent ambulance and police sirens. Traffic and loud music continued until early morning. It was impossible to sleep even for a short time.

What made the experience worse was the staff’s response. They were unprofessional and unhelpful. When I raised these concerns, I was simply told that nothing could be done and that cancellation was not possible.

After spending more than seven hours at the reception trying to resolve the situation, I lost an entire workday and was still charged 354 USD for just one night — a night I could not even stay or sleep in.

What was especially disappointing is that when I was finally leaving, the staff asked if they could offer me a quieter upgraded room. This clearly shows they were aware of the poor conditions of the room I was given and could have provided a better solution earlier, but they chose not to. This is unacceptable.

Considering the very high price of 145 USD per night, the quality was completely unacceptable. Within 10 to 20 minutes distance, there are much better hotels available at similar or even lower prices.

Overall, this was a very negative experience, and it has seriously affected my trust in hotels in downtown San Francisco.
