This hotel represents excellent value for money. I always review accommodation in the context of its price point, and for what you pay, the Hotel San Guido in Milan is very hard to fault.
It’s a family-run hotel with warm, attentive service and a relaxed feel. The rooms are comfortable with a good-sized bed, and the continental breakfast is simple but well done and exactly what you need before heading out for the day.
Location-wise, it’s a great base. Very close to Porta Garibaldi station if you’re travelling in and out by train, and incredibly easy to get around Milan using the trams to reach all the main sights.
Overall, excellent value, well located, and a solid, comfortable stay — I’d happily recommend it.
Very beautiful furniture and location, but: the mattress was too rigid, the breakfast was sad, the service was just decent.
Happy to stay with San Guida
I love the charming decor and the bed was comfy! I also enjoyed the neighborhood. Would stay again!
Great location, comfortable bed, quirky aesthetic, would stay again
Realy nice hotel, lots of history. Friendly staff. Perfect for stay with kids.
I would normally rate this hotel a good 4 but I am rating as 1 to gain attention from anyone who is planning to visit this hotel in the near future. Please check if the building repair work is completed, or if you are lucky enough to have a room not affected by loud banging and drilling each morning.
We arrived late at the hotel (rail delays/cancellations,another story). A bit concerned by the scaffolding outside our bedroom window but our priority was food and sleep. We had already been told hotel was full so no point in asking for room change. Woken at 8.30 by loud banging and drilling above our room. We complained to duty manager who said he would speak to builders so it would not be a problem next day. Also spoke to evening duty manager who said it would not be a problem. I am annoyed with myself for allowing them to fob me off. Next morning work started at 7.45am. In fairess to builders the noise level was reduced, but we still woke to a constant hammering above our ceilng.
When checking out, I requested a partial refund but this was refused. Said sorry, did nothing.
No advance warning of the works on hotel website or booking.com. We'll be taking this up with booking.com. Meanwhile I suggest you check with hotel and if not reassured then go elsewhere (or plan to get up and leave early before work starts).
Great historic building from 1900’s with charm and a great breakfast! They make cappuccinos for you in the morning!! It is close to the train station and walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants.
👍
Charming quintessential old style Italian hotel. Loved everything about it: comfortable room, very clean, friendly staff and it included a nice Italian breakfast with great service!
For a central area hotel in Milan surrounded by Metro transportation near their door it was amazingly quiet at night. Nicely done decor and breakfast. Professional staff and cleanliness. Desk staff were especially helpful in directions to nearby venues.
The hotel is a short walk from Porta Garibaldi, an easy train ride on the Malpensa Express train. The location is wonderful as it is in the border of Chinatown and Porta Nuova, both vibrant areas with culture, food, bars, nightlife, etc. The hotel is beautifully decorated, our bedroom was on the top level (level 4, and they have a lift too!) and it was large, with a very comfortable huge bed (I think bigger that a California King, huge) and with an ensuite, aircon, bar fridge, and all the trimmings of a 5* accommodation. Breakfast was included and it was amazing! Great espresso cofee, juices, breads, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fruits, cakes, etc etc etc !!!! Wow !!! Seevice was also friendly, helpful and attentive to our needs. Strongly recommend to stay at Hotel San Guido if visiting Milano !!!
Charming older building with lovely decor, comfortable room, and a great breakfast spread. Definitely recommend.
This hotel was charming and perfectly situated for our visit. Staff was lovely and very helpful. We were offered a sitting map and got a very thorough introduction places within the city that would be of interest and how all of the trains work. I am so glad I found this gem on the border of Chinatown. Easy walking distance too many points of interest. Also easy access to Metro.
I had already paid for my hotel, but upon arrival, the receptionist unexpectedly asked me to pay another bill for taxes, which I wasn’t informed about before.
Breakfast could be better but all in all great value for money! And 24h reception!
Breakfast is ok, location is good!
Great hotel near the train station for easy travel to and from MXP airport. Extremely helpful staff and management that went above and beyond to make my stay worth more than I paid for.
Property was a bit outdated and the area around was not the nicest.
Hotel was clean, comfortable, close to fun restaurants in Chinatown. Trams to the duomo and castle areas stop right in front of the hotel.
