Pros:

Location was excellent and it is a beautiful building.

Cons:

I was unaware when I booked that both the pools were out of action and the spa area. There was no discount due to this though they promote the fact that those things are available. We were a bit disappointed by this as it was our 30 th wedding anniversary.

Quaint Hotel
Pros:

A lovely hotel with newly refurbished rooms (had to open the window to clear the paint smell). Large comfy bed and sofa. Ms Lillians is a great restaurant and would recommend.

Cons:

The shower in the bathroom flooded the floor - just needs more sealant around the base. The spa and outdoor pool were closed which was a shame as it was still sunny and warm. For dinner one night, we had dinner at the lounge. I waited 45 for my main (porchetta) which was not good. We also booked afternoon tea with champagne. The tea did not come out on a 3 tiered stand as it should do but as 3 separate plates. The scones were good but there was plain runny cream instead of clotted cream. The very lovely waitress forgot to ask if we wanted tea and had to be reminded by her manager when we had almost finished. On checking out the reception managed to charge my card twice. I put this all down to teething problems as there is a change in management.

Not worth it.
Pros:

Darley's is always fabulous and these days the restaurant carries the hotel.

Cons:

The hotel used to be a luxury hotel but it isn't any more.

SOAP: There was no soap provided in the bathroom, just body wash dispensers bolted to the walls. When I had a bath I could not reach the body wash dispenser so I had to get out of the bath to get the body wash and then return to the bath.

ROOM SERVICE: I had to ask twice (in the afternoon) for our room to be serviced. The 'please make up our room' sign was on the door nearly all day Sunday.

BEDDING: There was a very thick doona on the bed which was too hot. Doonas look great when the bed is made up but we needed to ask for a blanket so that we could sleep cooler. A blanket was delivered eventually and it looked like it had seen better days. Even with the window open the doona was too hot.

BREAKFAST ROOM: The breakfast room looks over the car park.

MOUNTAIN VIEW ROOM: Our mountain view room (on the first floor) didn't have a mountain view. It looked onto a hedge and a road.

Pros:

Great location, quiet and spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff, a nice indoor pool, great food at the lounge and Miss Lilian. We were a bit concerned with the recent negative reviews but it proved to be a great stay.

Cons:

Minor renovations were still ongoing and the spa was closed. We could smell paint in the rooms too. Would recommend booking in advance for a dinner at the lounge or you’d risk like a 1 hour wait which would be quite hard if you have young kids.

Stay was ok. Loved Echo next door! Beautiful sunset and amazing dinner with very efficient staff.
Pros:

Good breakfast at Darley’s.

We arrived to the smell of paint. Laundry and a vacuum cleaner left in the quest area for two days. No snooker table & litter round the property.

Do not stay here until they’ve finished renovations
Pros:

The staff were fantastic in finding us a room at the sister property across the road at Echoes Boutique Hotel which is lovely.

Cons:

We booked our stay through booking.com and had absolutely no idea the hotel is under a massive reconstruction. The place looks, sounds and smells like a construction site and for $750 a night - you do not want to stay here. Tradesmen are outside every exit smoking cigarettes, most of the facilities are closed, and there’s construction noise all day. We were horrified when we check in and were just lucky the staff were so understanding and moved us into a better room across the road. Highly recommend you just booked Echoes Boutique Hotel across the road instead. Or at least call ahead and find out if it’s still being renovated.
