Gedney Farms is very quiet, peaceful and rustic. Your stay is in a converted barn with towering ceilings, hard wood floors, and rustic reused furniture with no TV phones or radios. Note some rooms require stair climbing on winding stairs with sections without rails or handholds. Some bathtubs are very high. It would be helpful to talk to the location about the room accommodations if mobility is an issue.
The staff is very unobtrusive almost to the point of non existent. The breakfast was fresh and healthy with plain Greek yogurt, granola, fresh fruits, hard boiled eggs, muffins and bread to toast. The grounds are well tended but not fussy and offer beauty, peace and quiet. The location is an easy 30 minutes to Tanglewood and 15 minutes to Stockbridge. It is nearby Berkshire Botanical Gardens, Dr. Suess Museum, WEB DuBois statue and homestead, Norman Rockwell museum, Monument mountain, Housatonic river and many art stores, general stores, outdoor activities. This area is car dependent.
Unique and beautiful. Stayed in an old barn, quirky and offbeat in a nice way.
Amenities very scant and zero tech in the rooms (no tv, clocks, etc.). If you like rustic charm, you’ll like this. If you’re a tech junkie, not so much.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was perfect. We brought our dog who loved the walking trails and the room.
The shower was modern and wonderful.
The bed was comfortable.
Beautiful.
Great property
Beautiful, clean property that is well run.
Great staff. Quiet.. and an excellent chef! Unique property and well worth it!
Beautiful and rustic, less than 15 minutes to Butternut and Great Barrington.
Absolutely a wonderful experience. It was just what i was looking for. Truly unique, very comfortable, surrounded by beauty and nature. Gracious host. Win, win. We will be back.
A perfect little getaway!
Rural inn, with rooms in former cow barn that have been cleverly redone. Good buffet breakfast. Quiet and pretty space.
The grounds were beautiful and staff were so nice! Dinner was delicious!
excellent
Lovely.
It's been the fourth time I stayed at the Gedney Farm. IT's gorgeous, beautiful setting, friendly hosts, amazing room with whirlpool in the old barn. I will come back!
The property was very pretty. The room had a new, well lit, beautiful bathroom. The rest of the room unfortunately was dark, damp and musty. A couple pieces of antique furniture were nice but upholstered furniture, mattress and bedding were in desperate need of replacement. The continental breakfast was very nice. It was a little too far from Great Barrington (20 min.) where we wanted to be. Would not recommend.
We liked the setting. When we arrived via motorcycle, we attempted to follow the directions that were sent to us via email. We looked for the reception sign, but it was no where obvious. We had to find someone to ask where reception was. We located the tiny, vine covered "Reception" sign hanging over the inauspicious entry. Our room provided a dusty wardrobe which was clearly for ambiance. The bed felt as if it were about to collapse every time we moved. There was no door in the toilet room! The curtain on the side light was an upsidedown drape, and it was sheer. The "jacuzzi" was a single person, jetted bath tub (sitting next to the toilet room with no door!) Flying insects were in the room! Some dead ones were left where they were killed. No food or beverages until 5pm. Not good for travelers looking for a cold iced tea on a hot day; after traveling for several hours. Unfortunately, we were not impressed. One of the other guests jokingly said "it's like camping." We did not pay for a hotel room to "go camping." In the morning, the breakfast was nice. Fresh fruit and muffins, yogurt and granola, coffee and various teas. The one young lady in attendance was pleasant. Fortunately I speak some Spanish, making me able to communicate with her. We found the art display to be impressive.
Overall, Gedney Farm was simply a place to sleep and will not be on our 'places to return to' list.
Quiet surrounding is great to rekax
Came here for an overnight and to try and re-energize. We had our doubts going in that one night would be enough, but Gedney Farms was amazing. We’d definitely recommend a fireplace as it really helped leave the world behind for a night. The staff was nice and the property is large and great for taking dogs for a walk. We’d definitely come back
