Extremely clean,large comfortable room.
Staff were friendly but hard to find in the morning, some of the food ran out ,looked for a member of staff ,as did two other couples, in the end we went without and just had what was left on offer.
Stayed at the dragonfly hotel for a couple of nights to attend a wedding nearby. Easy to park and register the car in reception on the tablet. We had food from the bar on Friday night which was really tasty. The room was comfy and clean and opening windows for fresh air was a bonus. Being able to have a bath was great, also had a shower head for a quick shower before heading home on Sunday. Was very dubious before arriving after reading some of the reviews, but we were very comfortable and pleasantly surprised. Liz on reception was so helpful and went out of her way for us. Not often I’m pleasantly surprised but this was one.
Our room was clean and had everything that we required for a short weekend break. Conveniently located for Colchester and the surrounding area. We visited Walton on the Naze which was only a half hour drive away. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food that we had was excellent and very well presented.
There seemed to be a lot of corners being cut. Whilst the staff were really great they were run off their feet manning reception, the bar and acting as staff in the restaurant all at the same time. In the morning there was nobody to greet at breakfast so you just had to wander in and find your own way around. Cooked Breakfast selection was very limited; just bacon, sausage and scrambled egg on Saturday. When the eggs and bread ran out you had to go knocking on the kitchen door to let someone know as they were so busy they couldn’t watch the buffet bar. Also plates accumulated on tables and very little clearing up done. So whilst tables may have been empty they weren’t really available as still had the previous guests leftovers on them. Whilst tea and coffee provided in rooms most hotels, even budget ones, tend to also offer a biscuit and bottled water. No room service during the stay which for two nights wasn’t an issue but apparently it’s only available if you stay five nights or more.
Clean modern great bar nice food amazing shower comfy bed
Nothing
Rooms were clean , bed was comfy and large.
Place was very nice and restaurant had great food.
The breakfast wasn't of good quality, very little choice and not greatly cooked.
After my shower we ran out of hot water so my partner couldn't shower.
We used the quick check in terminal and god charged an extra £25 that we didn't know about.
The evening meal in the restaurant was great staff really friendly
The bed was uncomfortable I ordered a double room and what I got was 2 single beds pushed together to make a double not comfortable at all. The breakfast was Luke warm not piping hot and not much to choose from
The room was comfortable and shower very good, the food was also nice.
Service was slow but there was only one lady so not really her fault ,needed to be more staff for a Saturday night the place was empty but service still slow .Room could do with updating a bit .
Booked 2 rooms in couple days in advance with cancelation option. Due to unexpected severe family illness, needed to cancel but missed the deadline while dealing with situation. Dragonfly showed no compassion and refused to refund despite the family having stayed with them previously. Certainly won't be staying or recommending this chain again.
Room was a good size and the outside drinking / smoking area is nice
Bed made me sweat all night even though i didn’t have the heating on and it was only 1° outside.
Breakfast is served until 10am but hot food stops at 9am.
No alternative to real milk. It’s 2026 for goodness sake. Just go buy some almond milk or oat milk.
