Ive been an IHG member since 2015 and this is my hotel of choice when I need one.
On this occasion I have the following observations;
1. They have changed the sausage at breakfast to something that is tasteless and fiberess.
The addition of Veggy sausage was a plus but breakfast was ruined by replacing the pork sausage with something I cant recognise. Put the original sausage back.
2. Why is there nothing like a pizza on the menu no more?
Its a sharing meal with kids where nothing else is there for them.
3. We were there for an anniversary stay and all we got was a crowd of footballers in the restaurant shouting, cheering and singing, so loud I could not hear what was said around me. Not one member of staff tried to quiet them down, so we had to put up with it.
As a paying guest I thought us other customers should at least have been given consideration by the staff, but no.
If I wanted football noise I would have gone to a football match.
Wake up staff.
3. The double bed is very noisy when there is movement. Its high time they were replaced. It makes more noise than a 74 year old bones.
4. There used to be a larger selection of danish pastries, but we found only one.
Very quiet
Nothing
The property on the whole was good.
The bathroom had issues which I reported to reception on my first night’s stay. But it wasn’t corrected.
Always met with a smile. Great service from the team. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Location of the hotel is great for transport links
Great location for my cycling event, good parking and nice gym/spa facilities
Upon arriving there was a large wedding party in full swing. Due to the importance my sleep would be the night before my event, I ask the reception staff if we could move to a quiet room.
We were treated wonderfully by the reception staff, they gave us a free drink whilst we waited for our new room to be cleaned and within 10 minutes it was ready. Really great service
Rooms were a little tired
The staf was very friendly, helpful, and nothing was to much trouble. I was on my mobility scooter to get around, the staff at breakfast helped me in every way they could, got my breakfast for me and drinks as and when I needed one.
I don't think anything could be improved, apart from no bitter or mild beer, and it being a Marston house.
The complimentary mini bar
Nothing
Location was ideal, customer service at reception and in restaurant was excellent as was dinner and breakfast.
Location was ideal for why we needed our stay
Could not have a shower as unable to get water temp below scolding. Cooked breakfast was luke warm/cold.
The Spa facilities and the kitchen staff . They are very friendly and welcoming
Disappointing Experience – Staff Attitude Let This Hotel Down
The hotel itself has good facilities and was clean, but unfortunately, the attitude of some staff completely ruined our stay.
On 20/08/2026 around 4:30pm, a tall white male staff member near the Spa was extremely rude towards myself and my friend in front of our children. He told us that no more than two children were allowed in the pool, despite my older children being teenagers (15 and 14) and the pool being only around two feet deep. The way this was communicated made us feel singled out and discriminated against as Black guests, If this is genuinely hotel policy, it should be clearly and consistently applied to everyone.
There was also poor communication at reception. I was not informed that I needed to register my car for parking, although the £15 parking charge was taken without issue. I only discovered the registration requirement the following morning and was then told I would have to contact the hotel to deal with any potential parking ticket.
Overall, the facilities and cleanliness were good, but the poor customer service, attitude and lack of communication overshadowed the positives.
Would I stay again? Unfortunately, no. A hotel can have great facilities, but guests should also feel welcomed, respected and treated fairly.
All very good.
You have to pay for parking!
Very clean, spacious and quiet at night
There was nothing I didn't like
The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I liked having access to the pool facilities.
The rooms were tired, particularly the bathroom. The location was great if driving but not for those using the bus service.
