Food In restaurant was good..
Unaware that the body soap in the bathroom was empty until I went to use it in the morning. The body soap should be checked before guests arrive. I was disappointed.
Car park very small.
We met our friends at The Swan for coffee then lunch afterwards. There has been a considerable amount of updating to the main restaurant, which now looks fresh and more modern. Coffee off the reception area is never rushed here. A good place to chat and meet friends.
The main restaurant was lovely. The food was excellent, well presented and ample sized portions. The staff were a delight, nothing was too much trouble. Our waitress Blanka was just perfect. A lovely personality, good sense of humour and efficient.
Poor breakfast
The room this time was not great
Good location, great bar, room was pleasant
The name Bedford Thermal Spa would indicate it’s a thermal spa. It’s not. There is a thermal spa but not automatically a facility available to hotel guests - you must book in advance and pay a fee. This would have been key information to know when we booked or even checked in
We have stayed many times and love the character and individuality of the rooms in the oldest part of the hotel. But as a Valentine's treat, we thoughr we'd try one of the new executive rooms. The Exective Super King Room was stylish, spacious and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. We'll be back.
Beautiful location by the river, and the room was so lovely and quaint! The thermal spa was lovely and a really fun experience. However the restaurant stole the show! Such a great selection of meals and fully catered to my partner being gluten free, was a lovely dining experience each time we went. Would defiantly stay again.
Wanted to treat my wife and this hotel delivered.
Spa nice and clean.
Room totally clean.
Overall 10/10
Everything
Nothing
Lovely room
And amenities
Bit noisy where I was next to a door - better sound proofing of rooms needed
Central location, friendly staff
Poor shower, breakfast not great especially if you don’t eat sausage, bacon or black pudding
Breakfast always good ..Bar area lovely over looking the river. Nice clientele.
Smart hotel
I up graded room on booking a double room as offered a deluxe room online at booking. The room was nice but no better than the standard double we had stayed in previously, so not sure why it was an upgrade
This was our first visit to the Bedford Swan Hotel and we were impressed by our afternoon tea in Anna's Tearoom. The room itself is elegant and comfortably furnished in an eclectic style. The tearoom overlooks the embankment and the sunshine streams through the large windows into the room. Anna's afternoon tea was a perfect balance of delicious dainty savoury and sweet items served with a drink of your choice. Each item had been freshly prepared and carefully thought out with contrasts in flavour, texture and colour. We could not manage to finish all our cakes so we took the remainder home in takeaway boxes to enjoy later on.
Our waitresses Keeley and Rene were very welcoming and helpful and made our first visit here enjoyable and memorable. All the staff we met including Mick and Holly went the extra mile in making us feel welcome.
I would highly recommend the afternoon tea here and we are already planning on returning with friends and family later this month.
Beautiful hotel set along the river. The bedroom we stayed in was absolutely lovely.
Unfortunately the spa was fully booked and we couldn’t gain access to any of its facilities. Service at the bar was very slow, waited 30 minutes for a drink. Not enough seats at breakfast, literally had to scramble for a table with other guests.
