Tropicana Suite Hotel

Place is falling apart and looks it. No kettle and the bottom of a double boiler was the only cookware, which didn’t much matter because the stove didn’t work, wallpaper peeling, disgusting carpets, water damage everywhere, very old and filthy couch, curtains that were literally falling apart and coming off their tracks, sheets too small to tuck under the mattress, water temperature that changed significantly and often during showers, lamps that didn't work.

Kitchen was very very old. Dish soap wouldn’t dispense.

Furnishings are outdated and patch up jobs need doing. Definitely a 2 star Hotel but you get what you pay for and compared to other Hotels in the area the price is really good.

The place is run down, still has appliances from the 70s. Hotel was started in 2002, no remodel has been done. Reading past reviews from 12 years ago, they had the same complaints. The owners are obviously in business just for money, not up keep of the hotel.

Only one elevator works, which was a complaint I saw 12 years ago also.

I'm not sure about fire laws and safety in Canada, but I would not being going back nor recommended this location to anyone.

Owners need to take some pride in the hotel or just shut it down.

Very dated, but considering the value it’s ok. Super nice and accommodating staffs.

We only needed a basic hotel for one night for a concert, so we weren't expecting anything fancy. We knew it was dated and were completely fine with that — unfortunately, the condition was far beyond what we expected.

Very strong unpleasant smell; we had to buy room spray just to tolerate the room.
Stains on the carpet and furniture.
The bed and overall cleanliness made us uncomfortable enough that we wouldn't sleep under the blankets.
Broken pullout couch that we were told not to close, so it had to remain pulled out.
Elevator malfunctioned repeatedly, with the doors opening several times instead of continuing. I eventually got out and took the stairs because I didn't feel comfortable continuing in it.
Approximately $310 for one night felt extremely poor value.

We can overlook a dated hotel, but this was beyond simply being dated. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again.

The rooms could have been a little cleaner, sleeping pillows had sweat stains on them.
