Top location on Robson Street.
Pros:

Love the vintage vibe of this hotel. We were lucky and got a room on the 12th floor overlooking Robson Street. View couldn’t have been better. Yes it is not the newest hotel in Vancouver but exactly that is it’s charm. We had a suite with living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It was clean and everything worked. Great way to end a long trip. Loved it.

Pros:

I liked the hotel’s location and the size of the room. The Wi-Fi was good. However, the room and furniture are quite worn and dated, and the cleanliness is only average. On the other hand, considering the price, these shortcomings are acceptable.

Great location but badly needing a renovation

This hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Many many issues with the suites. Windows and balcony doors cannot be locked, there is no insulation so even on 12th floor there is a lot of traffic noise. No mosquito net for the windows. Furnishing is falling apart. No hook in the bathroom for towels - the one on the door is broken; not fixed. Carpet is stained. Electrical outlets not working in the bathroom. Only two elevators which are very slow. With the current establishment this hotel is very much overpriced for the state in which it is.

Old and tatty but comfortable and great views+location
Pros:

Location on Robson St. with shops and many eateries. Also walkable to central city. I'm a city of sky-high accommodation, esp. Peak- season, at least Tropicana provides a reasonably priced option for central accommodation that is a grade or 2 above hostels. Although everything is old, apartment was clean and spacious and city views are a bonus.

Cons:

Everything that's been stated in reviews is correct. Building is very old, everything is tatty.
However if one can overlook appearances, it is ok. No an electric jug in kitchen. This should have been provided. A coffee maker is. Ancient range-cook plates worked but oven did not.

Dated furnishings, time to be refurbished. We were there during FIFA, the nightly rate very $$$ for what it is
