Alexander The Great Beach Hotel

Me and my partner booked this hotel to celebrate our 30th birthdays. This was my first time in Cyprus. This hotel was recommended to me by a good friend. The hotel was just as good as my friend stated.

Upon arrival we were greeted at the desk and given a complimentary drink on arrival which was a nice touch. We had a limited sea view side room which was fine. The beds were soooo comfy! The room was a decent size and I was happy with the cleanliness of our room during our stay.

The food at the hotel exceeded my expectations. The breakfast choice is outstanding, there is so much to choose from and all of the food tasted really good.

The Garibaldi restaurant was absolutely amazing and so was the Seven Orchids Asian Restaurant. I would definitely recommend booking these two restaurants as soon as you can.

We had the dinner buffet twice (Mexican Night and Cyprus Night) and the food was very nice at both nights. The Cyprus Night was so fun with the dancing entertainment. If you are there definitely go to the Cyprus Night buffet and get there at a reasonable time (so you can get a seat to watch the dancing).

Excellent choice of food at breakfast and you get coffee included I.e filtered coffee, iced lattes, lattes etc and then you can get water and juice from the buffet. You can also order omelettes, eggs Benedict and poached eggs on toast.

I love the pool and infinity swim up bar. The pool is a decent size and the sunbed allocation system is absolutely amazing - you can relax and not have to worry about finding a sunbed every morning.

The staff were all so welcoming and nice at the hotel.

We had some lovely drinks outside on the veranda overlooking the sea. I love that they bring you some olives, nuts and rice crackers when you order the drinks at the bar inside/on the veranda. Such a nice touch and the snacks are tasty!

My partner proposed to me in Paphos whilst we were on our trip and he arranged a bottle of champagne and rose petals for the room and the guest services were very accommodating and helpful with this.

Location of the hotel is great - took us about 10 mins to walk to the harbour. Not far from the airport either. The sunsets are AMAZING from this hotel.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, it is worth the money you pay for and I definitely hope to be back at some point!

She might not be visually the swankiest looking hotel on the seafront but this hotel is a real gem of old school charm and convivial hospitality on the inside and, most impressively, amongst the fantastic staff from front desk to cleaners, concierge to restaurant and bar-staff. We stayed here as a couple 7/6/26 for 10 days and our room , overlooking the sea and pool areas, had the best sunset views, a lovely balcony and a huge , comfortable bed and nice bathroom. We were only bed and breakfast , but the breakfast was buffet style and what you’d expect, with a wide range of choice. Tables were always available whatever time you came down for breakfast and there was no annoying music - which, for me, is a real plus. There is a well stocked and reasonably priced mini bar and ice is available on demand. The adults only area is fantastic if you are avoiding kids, if you are going with young ones, the main pool is fantastic and the lifeguards on point. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a friendly and well appointed base to explore Cyprus , with plentiful car parking and it’s a short walk to the harbour area or nearby restaurants and bars.

As with all of our many previous visits to this wonderful hotel our recent holiday was tremendous. The hotel has excellent facilities and an outstanding location overlooking the harbour and the Fort. The staff at the Alexander The Great are by far its best asset - they are always so helpful and welcoming and are one of the main reasons we go back year after year. Binod in the housekeeping team looked after us diligently throughout our stay and Joanna at the Pool Bar was a superstar as always ⭐😊

2nd visit to this lovely hotel for me & the wife, and 25th time for the in-laws, you could say they like it. It’s in a prime location on the coastal path which takes you in both directions for superb walks. Food/restaurant choices should please 95% of most people, all staff are top notch with reasonable priced drinks at the bars. Rooms are big & comfy enough for our needs, most importantly clean with great showers. General atmosphere through out the hotel is relaxed & welcoming and the sun-bed allocation is the icing on the cake….

First time here at the Alexander the great hotel. Absolutely fabulous. Staff all friendly, happy to help with anything. Our room was lovely, we had a deluxe room with a side sea view. The room was spacious and clean. There were mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel supplied and little touches like a shower cap and little sewing kit. Rooms cleaned daily and bed linen and towels changed every other day. We went for the bed and breakfast deal. Bonus. No queuing at coffee machines as staff readily available and attentive to happily get what you need. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. The pool area is excellent especially the swim up bar and you get an allocated sunbed for the duration of your stay so no getting up at silly o'clock to put your towel down😃
We went on 2 boat trips. The jolly roger pirate ship was excellent especially if you have children. Captain Jack pigeon (or Matthew) was brilliant. The children were well entertained. But the highlight was the trip on the ocean vision boat. Absolutely amazing and well worth it. Entertainment, food and drinks are all included in the price. Then a DJ and firework display to end the night.
All in all a fabulous stay. No complaints and we will definitely be back.

We have just returned from this gorgeous hotel! We stayed for a week and during our stay we also got married, this hotel was perfect for us its beachfront location and there is no sunbed wars here as you get allocated a sunbed for your stay. The wedding venue was absolutely perfect for us, it was private and we had the unity terrace and access to the ballroom where we had our evening reception. Chrystalla is an amazing wedding planner she has answered every question and eased every worry and the decor was just how I visioned. The staff in this hotel can’t do enough for you and we have to say a special thank you to Raju & Jordan, everytime we came for breakfast Jordan spoke to us made sure we had what we wanted and interacted with our daughter. The breakfast buffet has a variety of options for everyone I can’t recommend this hotel enough! Thank you for a lovely stay and the perfect wedding day! We can’t wait to return next year. X

Recently returned from this hotel with my great friend of many years Robert Ludlow.
I have stayed in many 4 star and 5 star hotels in Cyprus and throughout the coastal resorts on the med.
I can only state that this hotel was absolutely superb,the levals of service were absolutely outstanding from arrival to departure.
The food was exquisite especially in the oriental and Italian restaurants.
Without a doubt to Michelin standards.
The standard buffet dinner was also excellant with plenty of choice and how nice to be able to dine in a formal restaurant rather than a college dormitory.The leval of service provided by the restaurant manager was nothing short of exceptional to every degree.
Also it was great to see the hotel general manager out and about the hotel meeting guests to ensure they were being well cared for.
Absolutely superb hotel which I will visit again without a doubt and I highly recommend if you are going to Kato pathos give it a try you will not be disappointed.
And again many thanks to Jordan the restaurant manager for making our stay so special you are truly a great asset to a great hotel.

First time in “Alexander the great” hotel, amazing,enjoyed it every second. The staff is professionals, very friendly and helpful, very clean all over, food is delicious, 3 kind of swimming pools, nearby the sea, private beach. Excellent Bar, nearby bus station, Restaurants and shopping Center. We’re definitely going to have another vacation in”Alexander the Great Hotel”.

We got married at Alexander the great beach hotel and it was amazing, the staff could not do enough for us, and the holiday was fantastic, we will definetely be back.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. All the staff where friendly and our daily cleaning lady Aphrodite was fantastic. Food excellent. Sun bed allocation absolutely great. We enjoyed it so much we are returning next year in April to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We look forward to seeing all the happy staff and of course Aphrodite our lovely cleaning lady. Also i must say it was my birthday whilst there and we did not tell anyone but we arrived back to the room all decorated with balloons and a lovely cake. So thank you and we look forward to seeing you all next time.

I wrote a review in 2019 about this amazing hotel. We have stayed there twice more since but visited again this June and it has to be one of my favourite ever hotels. I travelled a lot around Europe before retiring in 2014 and stayed in many excellent hotels but Alexander The Great beats them all.

Spotlessly clean, still exceptional friendly professional staff who aim to please in everything they do. Food continues to be superb with wonderful buffets and specialist restaurants which you can prebook to dine in at no extra cost. This year we went to the Asian buffet, the Cypriot evening with classical local dishes, a fabulous Italian evening and the Seven Orchids Pan -Asian restaurant which was truly wonderful. Four delightful courses of delicious food served by exceptional staff and managed by the brilliant RAJU, a real credit to the hotel. The setting outside on a warm evening was fabulous hearing the gentle ripple of waves with a very impressive sunset to watch. A magical evening.

We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager - Demetris Demetriou - at a cocktail party and it’s no wonder the hotel is so good. He knows everything about how to run a hotel successfully, a charming man and great manager who I believe is highly respected by all staff. Finally, I must mention Jordan, the restaurant manager/ supervisor. Another person devoted to making all guests feel welcome and at home. A delight to talk to every morning.

The hotel is on the beach and has two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and a smashing beach bar serving drinks and food. One innovative and really good idea is that on arrival you are allocated a sunbed either by the pool or on one of the grassed areas adjoining the beach, and this is yours for the duration of your stay so no rushing to find a sunbed every morning.
I am sure we shall return again for another relaxing, peaceful break with superb hospitality, food and service. So until the next time, thank you to all staff for a fabulous holiday.

If i was to base my review solely on customer service and location the hotel would be 5 Star ++. The staff were exceptional and special mention to 3 people:

Joana in particular always went above and beyond to ensure service standards were kept to a very high level throughout the day.
The only reason I went for 4 stars for the overall review is that the hotel is starting to look a bit tired in places but I understand the hotel will close for a short period around Jan/Feb 2027 for a major refurbishment which is brilliant news. I look forward to seeing the changes in my next visit.
One thing we did notice was that in the past there was a happy hour around 4 or 4.30 but that has been withdrawn now but not sure why. Normally the Infinity Bar would be packed during happy hour as guests would have a couple of drinks enjoying the views as the sun starting to fall. This year it was definitely more quiet so I hope post refurbishment this is reintroduced as there was always such a great atmosphere with more people at the bar.

We went to this hotel for our honeymoon the end of may! The hotel had put a bottle of bubbly and petals on our bed on arrival, such a lovely touch! The hotel is spotlessly clean, every member of staff so friendly and can’t do enough for you. The location is absolutely perfect on the beach and 10 minute walk to harbour if that! The food was absolutely out of this world! We would definitely return to this beautiful hotel! And very highly recommend!
