Alexander The Great Beach Hotel

Stayed here many years ago, current stay for 5 days with Jet2, preferred previous stay before upgrading, hotel has become too big and too busy, pics now show lovely spacious pool and garden areas, in reality you cannot move for packed in sunbeds everywhere like sardines, previous years sunbed allocations great but now so many beds unoccupied but when asked you are given very little choice, adult area ? not so much adult pool rather tiny sections not big enough to swim in, this is one of Jet2 'luxe' properties, restuarant, staff service, friendly helpful staff, lobby areas agree 'luxe' but bedrooms really let this hotel down, very tired, peeling wallpaper, bathroom is really outdated with old shower over the bath attachments, really oldfashioned and dangerous, shower goes from cold to scolding at times - parents beware common problem here, this was such a lovely hotel before its expansion now just too busy.

While I appreciate that the hotel has a system for allocating sunbeds, I believe the process needs serious review. Families with young children should be prioritised and allocated sunbeds in safe locations, away from busy public walkways.

As a parent, safeguarding my child while abroad is my number one priority. We were allocated sunbeds directly next to a public pathway, leaving our 8-year-old daughter exposed to constant foot traffic and making it much more difficult for us to supervise her comfortably. Had I known this would be the arrangement, I would never have booked this holiday.

What made the situation even more disappointing was the response from the hotel staff. I raised my concerns and explained why I felt the location of our sunbeds was unsuitable for a family with a young child. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed. The staff did not appear to understand or acknowledge the issue, showed little empathy, and made no attempt to help or find an alternative solution.

For a hotel that appears to welcome families, there seems to be very little consideration for the practical needs and safety concerns of parents with young children. A simple policy of allocating families to more secure areas away from public thoroughfares would make a significant difference.

Sadly, this experience has left us feeling that this is not a genuinely family-oriented hotel. While the sunbed allocation system itself is organised, it fails to consider what many parents value most: the safety and wellbeing of their children. The lack of understanding and support from staff only reinforced that impression.

Very few complaints about this hotel. Staff were lovely (all of them), food was pretty good especially in the Garibaldi restaurant.

Sunbed allocation worked well, pools were never too full and the location was absolutely perfect.

As noted in the title, this hotel is not quite as good as the Amanti Made for Two in Aiya Napa but apparently a much needed refurbishment is on the horizon to refresh the place.

The best hotel we have ever stayed at. From the welcome and throughout our stay the service is second to none. The food in all restaurants was unbelievable and the tasting menu experience in the Garibaldi restaurant was unbelievable and certainly something you need to experience when visiting this remarkable hotel. The little touches such as a birthday cake and balloons to celebrate my birthday to the thoughtful touches of folding back our bedding and leaving chocolates is every evening adds to the experience. Our sincere thanks go out to all the staff from the concierge, housekeeping, bar/restaurant staff, reception, guest services and management at The Alexander the Great Hotel we will most certainly be back. We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Alexander the Great Hotel. It was fantastic. We went to Cyprus for our wedding and chose to stay at the hotel as my fiancé’s sister got married there 12 years ago and said how good it was. Over a decade has passed and it’s still just as good.

We were upgraded and given a lovely card and a bottle of champagne to celebrate, and our room was decorated with rose petals on our wedding night.

The hotel itself is great, but it is all the little touches that make it excellent- bringing cold flannels and fresh fruit around the pool, the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff. They go the extra mile. A special shout out to Jordan in the catering staff who came and spoke to us every morning and was so good with our little boy. There is a huge selection of food and we honestly could not fault it.

We had an amazing holiday surrounded by our family and friends who all stayed in the hotel too. We will definitely be back.

The location is great, nice pools, the restaurants has a variety of different types of food.

An absolutely outstanding hotel experience!

Although the hotel is officially rated four stars, everything about our stay felt like a true five-star experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional. The facilities were excellent, the pool was beautiful, the service was exceptional, and the food was delicious.

Every detail was handled perfectly, and we felt truly well taken care of throughout our stay. Everything was 100/100, and we would happily return. Highly recommended!

This hotel exceeded our expectations!

Firstly, the staff are an absolute credit to the hotel. On arrival- they had prepared some wraps and welcome drinks for us as we had missed the buffet that evening.

A special mention to Vlad and Tina who were fantastic with our children, they made our holiday extra special! There weren't many children at the hotel during our stay but they made an extra special effort to put on a Mini Disco and interact with our two young children.

The food was by far the best we have had at a hotel. Highly recommend booking into Seven Orchids Oriental- you won't be disappointed.

The sunbed allocation was a game changer- we wish other hotels would do the same!

Location was fab! A short stroll away from the harbour. A small mini market opposite the hotel.

The pools were a highlight for us and our children. They loved having ice lollies in the swim up bar. The jet pool was shallow enough for our 5yo to swim without a float and the indoor pool was great on days that were too hot. All pools are a good temperature!

Baffled by some recent reviews giving the hotel a 1 star. This hotel was more like a 5 star and we will definitely be back! Thank you ATGH.

We had such a lovely stay at your beautiful hotel. Thank you to everyone there who made us feel so welcome. We love coming here and hope to be back again. Special thanks to Flawia, everyone on the front desk and concierge staff, Xenia and all her ladies, Nadia the lovely lady who cleaned our rooms, Joanna at the beach bar who was always super helpful particularly with our children, Marios the chef, Stelios the chef particularly for his wonderfully tasting beef stifado which is the best I have ever had and Evalina who again always had a smile for us and was super helpful when it came to feeding our children! These are just a few of the people I have mentioned but in fact every single staff member needs to take credit for our wonderful stay.
We were absolutely delighted with our rooms and our sun bed allocation. The food as always was delicious and the only negative thing I can think of is that we had to leave!

All the reviews just about say it all about this great hotel
But it's also the little extra touches that really make a difference to your holiday. From the evening turn down service bringing you chocolates and clean towels to the slices of melon and ice cold towels brought round while you are by the pool and the trio of nibbles you get with your drinks and the mid week managers cocktail party was also a really nice touch. I'd recommenced booking the a la carte restaurants a few times a week as the buffet evening meals can be a bit hit and miss depending on the daily theme with Greek buffet night being the best. The Garibaldi restaurant was very nice and would be perfect for a romantic meal or for a special occasion but my favourite was the 7 Orchids Asian restaurant and this is well worth a visit at least once. Check out the dress code for each restaurant as we found tailored shorts were accepted apart from in the Garibaldi where it was long trousers for men but closed shoes must be worn in all restaurants in the evening but sandals were ok at breakfast
The Breakfasts were the best I've experienced on holiday and the table ordering service for the eggs ( poached and omelettes ) and the tea and coffer ordering service was very good and helps to cut down on queues you get at other hotels for these items
If you fancy an evening out the Atrion Garden over the road is great for evening drinks and food and Gemens bar opposite is great for lunches
The sunbed reservation system is good and takes away the early morning rush to reserve the best beds that you see at other hotels.
However, the allocation system still leaves a lot to chance and what is available on your first morning and we found the best beds around the pool and in the adult area were already reserved for the whole week of our holiday and not much else was available apart from on the grass area overlooking the sea but these turned out to be fine. But it was still frustrating to see groups of sunbeds go unused and the cushion still in the overnight position for the whole day so i'd recommend a slight improvement to the system and if reserved beds are unused by 3 or 4pm they should then become free to use by any guests.
Finally i'd like to thank all the staff who really make this hotel what it is and always have a smile on their face and are always happy to help.

A fantastic week’s holiday. We went half board plus and really enjoyed all the food. So much choice especially for me as I am pescatarian. Lots of fish salad veg and more to choose from. The three à la carte restaurants included were fantastic especially the Italian and pan Asian ( which was the best). The rooms were a decent size and we opted for a sea view which was fab. The staff and service was great. Could not fault anything.

Food was always excellent and varied everyday (not 1 chip served during our stay which was great)
3 a la carte meals included were the finest we have ever had in a hotel.
Pool areas and pool were spotless and fabulous
Indoor pool was cool and was god send after being in sauna and steam room
Well equipped gym with aircon for any gym freaks
The side sea room was great apart from balcony being very small and although could see the sea we could also see the big car park more
Hotel members of staff were absolutely fantastic
Every single person were so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble
It was my Mrs birthday whilst we were there and even though we didn't tell them they found out on the booking form and gave her a cake and balloons and chocolate delivered to the room
Also champagne and extras we our a la carte meal
It really did make a huge impact
