The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. No one was rude. The food was delicious. The hotel itself was clean and our room was clean. Comfortable bed. No issues with the room. I liked the tanning bed options too in the spa I liked the pool was lovely and warm.
The spa area was filthy. There were no lockers available as keys had gone missing so you had to either leave your belongings with reception or take them Into the pool area with you. The pool was small and felt dirty, there were cracked tiles and also loose tiles on the pool floor and mould inside the skimmer baskets. The hot tub was too small, so was the steam and sauna for the amount of customers using the areas. You have to walk up stairs to get to the changing room I would definitely recommend wearing sliders or shoes to the pool the floor was filthy. Only 1 staff member is running the spa I no wonder they don't have time to manage the whole area and clean.
It was nice. Ive stayed there before and it's changed a bit . But a nice break for daughter birthday. Pool and spa was lovely. The receptionist were very accommodating and we've booked to go again for the next family birthday break.
Hospitality tray of tea and coffee was sparse..I'll take my own tea bags and milk next time .
We have stayed here many time. Unfortunately this time was horrendous…a member of our party couldn’t make it as they fell ill…we arrived to a very stern, miserable , , rude member of staff… . They finally said we couldn’t have refund… so we asked if we could have credit for another time? Or stay another night from the money we invested in the second room.. she didn’t have a clue and asked manger. Who will get back to me.. after much debating and by 7pm the extremely obnoxious staff member and temp manger (with a mouth full of food) stated no we are full… I looked on booking.com and they had room… they just pushed it under the carpet and didn’t even look at me…. I understand policies but these members of staff had no idea, no compassion, no urgency and no authority to give me a straight answer. I had to wait 9 hours to find out… Iv never been treated so bad in a hotel. If you can call it that…. On check out I noticed someone getting a refund and on exit a gentleman told me he has had the worse stay ever… my advice is to spend your money elsewhere. This is a dump. With the rudest staff. Should be called Karen’s Hotel. If you like being treated like sh…..t this is for you. 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Lovely big room
Clean
Spa facilities were not as well kept as expected
We are the guests of Mercury Hotel and we are coming here for a long time.
It is a lovely place to stay if you like to be close to the beautiful nature. We would like to thank a lovely Receptionist Nicky who works there and is very helpful and welcoming. It would be nice to see more of these old school ladies in the business Thank you Nicky !
Me and my partner go here regularly and love it, the staff are amazing
The fact that you have started to let immigrants stay there which I don't agree with why should people have to pay to stay and these are getting put by the council, nothing to do with racism, just that it is a lovely hotel and it shouldnt be ruined, if that's the case that there there more often then me and my partner will have to find somewhere else to stop

Lovely
Spa was lovely
Booked for two nights and stayed for one
Everything! The hotel looks tired and needs a full revamp. The dining table we had was sticky so not cleaned. The menus were dirty with sticky fingerprints on, felt very grubby. The dinner menu was not good, the food was not good and looked obvious that it was not freshly prepared. The room, well we were upgraded to a Privileged room, that’s a joke the curtains were filthy the bed uncomfortable the seating you couldn’t relax in, would have hated to see a normal room. At dinner we asked for a dessert menu and received a small card with ‘Build Your Own’ dessert” really! Obviously we didn’t have one. The photos on the website of the rooms and food doesn’t represent what you get!!
We had booked for two Spa treatments and in the end cancelled as we saw the area prior and did not get the “Spa feeling” when we walked in to what we have been used to at other Spas. All you could smell was chlorine, made an excuse and cancelled
Just got home from an overnight stay to see Fawlty Towers show within the hotel. The show was fantastic and all 4 of our party highly recommend it.
The hotel is tired and rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment, our room smelled a bit like a dirty dog to be honest, the mattress was shot, 2 beds pushed together headboards not aligned consequently, room with no phone, which was needed at 3.30am in the morning due to excessive noise from above kids crying, banging on the floor which went on for an hour, so a visit to reception to complain.
The package included afternoon cream tea, no plates to serve scones on, but hey ho a saucer was provided, really?
Evening 3 course meal was better, but I think £6.80 for a bottle of cider is a bit over the top!
Breakfast was not hot enough, plenty to choose from, only margarine on offer with toast, asked for butter only to be told sorry we haven't any left, went further up the chain of command, we had butter sliced off a block after arms were twisted.
So would we stay here again, in short NO.
Fantastic hotel which has recently been much improved since the last time I visited. They have been making such an effort to step up appearances and it doesn't go unnoticed. Even the fitness facilities have improved by getting re-upholstered. Next, they'll just have to upgrade the machines themselves!
The best thing (above all else), for the hotel is the sensational team that they have, in particular Lisa, Elise & Nicky on reception - they are just brilliant. Lisa, no matter what is always there to support, like some sort of reception Goddess!
I love staying here, the hotel and the people.
Great location
The hotel is tired and dated. The room we were allocated, the dining room and public areas need some attention.
For the price good rooms and facilities. Staff were nice. Good value breakfast with plenty of choice.
Needs updating but for the price we were happy.
Evening meal served at mystery evening bad. Raw pastry and bland/dry food.
