Very friendly and helpful staff
Being charged for parking
Great location, excellent breakfast and of course, easy access to a swimming pool.
The room was excessively hot, as the temperature appeared to be controlled by a centralized ventilation system with very limited room-level adjustment. As a result, we had to rely on a standing fan for comfort.
We were also disappointed to discover a heavy layer of dust under the bed while searching for our cat, which raised concerns about the standard of housekeeping.
There were a few other issues that, although minor, negatively affected our experience. During room cleaning, a foot towel was used as a doorstop and then returned to the bathroom for continued use. This seemed inconsistent with expected hygiene standards.
Another concerning incident occurred when the room attendant left our door open despite noticing that our cat was inside the room. The possibility of the cat escaping through the open doorway did not appear to have been considered, which was quite upsetting.
Good location and facilities. Rooms were comfortable for our short stay
Paying for parking. Also at breakfast I asked for an omelette showered was informed that this would be an extra charge- really?
Reception - friendly, efficient and helpful. Breakfast - very good variety and longer than usual service hours.
Room - we paid extra but it was well worth it for extra space and the facilities we wanted.
Direct access to the garden from French windows, and private space to sit outside, were excellent.
Housekeeping was discreet, more frequent than we were told it would be, and left the room perfect.
Several individual staff were particularly helpful.
Only drawback - bathroom, while spacious, was a little dated and the walkin shower needed attention/replacement.
The room was a very long walk from the bar and restaurant, but worth it for having the garden access.
The rooms were very spacious. Decent size tv and soace around the room too.
The "spa " facilities was just like a haven holiday park.
Who wants to go for a spa break and on one day have it full of kids playing and the 2nd morning it be half cordoned off for a swim lesson for kids.
Should be well advertised that this will be full of kids also
Relaxed vibe
Helpful team
Decent size room with comfortable armchair
Nice pillows
Lovely breakfast
Nice to have a quick swim
Beautiful room, spacious, lovely view of the race course and gardens
Chairs on balcony could have been more comfortable.
The hotel was lovely staff very helpful.
Loved having the pool, especially when you've done alot of walking
Not close enough to city centre
Great location for visiting York.
Good parking
Bed very hard
Breakfast very expensive for what was on offer
Good location to city centre, no issues getting uber. Bar and garden were lovely
No air con in room, maid didn’t come one day so no clean towels until we rang down. Spa needs redoing as quite tired and dirty as plasters on the floor and hot tub wasn’t working.
Everything I wanted was there. Hotel, breakfast, spa use and great to access park and ride.
Having to pay extra for parking when I was a guest. No discounts from someone parking there for a day of shopping.
Some times the main chef seemed annoyed and would be storming around filling things up I felt in the way and said sorry and moved he didn’t acknowledge just looked at me as if if to say yes your in the way, I was just getting breakfast.
The hotel is really clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful
There is no aircon!!? In the middle of a heatwave on a 30 degree day the room was unbelievably hot on arrival. Luckily the helpful staff at front desk moved us down to the basement to a cooler room.
