Poor 4* Hotel

The location and the bed was comfortable.

Carpet held together with gaffa tape, no lights in the stairways, chipped and dirty paint throughout the corridors, black mould on bathroom ceiling, chipped bath.

Charming hotel
Pros:

Friendly staff, comfortable bed. Charming "old school" hotel ideal for a night or weekend. Cannot fault the location at all. Conveniently located for the front and town centre.

Cons:

Due to location unexpectedly noisy for a Wednesday evening and dated fixtures.

Good service makes up for a tired appearance
Pros:

Friendly and helpful reception staff.
Proximity to amenities
Very pleasant bar area
Breakfast selection was mostly good.

Cons:

Sadly the hotel is looking a bit below it's best. There is a need for refurbishment externally and in public areas like the restaurant bays specifically. No surprise bearing in mind the hotel's age and location on the sea front.
The second reception room as you entered was cold and although we appreciate the doors were opening to the street it could have been better. It would have been a pleasant place to sit but was too cold. No doubt the hotel team are aware of this as there were no seats in the first room next to the door.

Great location, could do with an update.
Pros:

Great location, right in the front.

Cons:

The property is old and tired, there had clearly been water damage in our room and no attempt had been made to cover up the fact. The room was clean but just felt tired.

We can't wait to come back, a truly enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel
Pros:

The staff are always attentive, polite and friendly and the location is perfect as it's directly facing the sea on the front. The room was nice and warm and was very spacious. They also kindly looked after our case when we checked out whilst we went for a wander. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice.

Cons:

The shower head kept falling down and, at one point, my husband said it fell off and hit him on the foot when he took a shower. it just needs tightening up. We did mention this to the manager when we checked out. Also the hotel is looking slightly dated but the manager said it was getting a refurb soon. Saying that, I hope they don't change it too much as it is really authentic and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.
