Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good location Grounds are lovely and well maintained.
Pillows need upgrading
Nice hotel with a good restaurant and comfortable rooms
£10 charge for car parking feels like penny pinching.
Alexander’s pub isn’t great.
On arriving at the hotel it felt cold, so not a warm cosy vibe. The staff on reception were helpful but mentioned that i would be charged for overnight parking. This was a new policy that i felt was unfair as there is nowhere else to part other than at the property. Our room was clean and a bit dated. Mattress was comfortable but the pillows were not, so my sleep wasn't great. With reference to the food- good quality but a little overpriced. Drinks in the bar, definitely overpriced!
New parking charge, cold vibe, pillows overpriced food and drink
Location and the grounds were super.
The bath was broken and wouldn’t drain. We weren’t aware we had to pay to park on the hotel car park.
Very friendly and polite staff always asking if everything was ok and if anything thing was needed from reception staff bar restaurant and pool staff.
Lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was exactly like the photos. Breakfast was very good great selection from buffet or the made to order menu. I had a spar treatment that was great good value for money all round.
We had our evening meal in the Alexander pub. But was not great. The chips were not cooked in the middle and very crispy on the outside. Staff were great though very apologetic but the meal was the only bad thing the whole weekend
Castle Green is a decent hotel on the outskirts of Kendal.
If you book via Booking.com note that the hotel charges you extra for parking (£10), which was not clear when making the booking and is an unnecessarily money-grabbing way to start a stay. The pool is also slightly gloomy and a few more smiles from staff would not go amiss.
Good location, have been coming for weekends here for many years.
Mother’s Day weekend with a friend. Booked into Alexander’s pub for evening meal. Very poor service, although pleasant, slow, no staff & others served before us but arrived after. Little organisation, food delicious.
Room - same stain on headboard for the last 4 visits & many cobwebs on ceiling in the bathroom. Complimentary water has been removed from the room & room cold on arrival. It takes forever to heat up then too hot during the night.
The Restaurant, excellent we booked into there for our 2nd night & the difference always astounds us.
Will return one more time to see if improvements have been made.
It's a grand hotel in a great location. Not far from train station - short taxi. And just on outskirts of Kendal. Good location if you want to day trip around the lakes. The staff are really helpful and want you to have the best stay possible. They can't do enough 😀
Not having automatic doors when you have your hands full of luggage.
Excellent hotel.
Our garden room was lovely- with a great view.
Everything was spotless.
Breakfast and dinner were very good.
Would book again.
Nice facilities and friendly staff.
