Hidden gem
Pros:

We booked the hotel after reading about it in a blog about the best boutique hotels in London. Location is fantastic for access to Portobello Road market and the Notting Hill neighbourhood.

Good room was quite small - ideal for one person or a couple who is okay in tight quarters. Marvellous room was outstanding.

The Honour Bar in the main sitting room adds a lovely touch to the feel of the hotel.

Tolle Lage und besondere Atmosphäre
Pros:

Das Hotel ist außergewöhnlich.
Die Lage zu Notting Hill mit seinen kleinen Geschäften, Restaurants und dem Markt ist absolut perfekt. Auch zur Subway ist es nicht weit.
Die Ausstattung ist besonders - viele Farben und unterschiedliche Muster, alte Möbel - typisch englisch. Eine schöne Atmosphäre.
Im Zimmer gibt es einen Kaffeeautomaten und eine super bestückte Minibar und kleine Snacks. Freies WLan. Das Personal war super freundlich.

Cons:

Ich hatte ein kleines Doppelzimmer. Leider gab es hier keinen Schrank oder ein Regal für die Kleidung.

Cons:

I would have preferred to be able to select my room.
I was told I couldn’t guarantee a particular room or one either a bath despite booking well in advance. I found that a silly rule and it made me feel anxious in the lead up to the stay….which could easily have been avoided.
Found the step in my bathroom a bit dangerous and the saloon style doors to bathroom to be annoying!
So very nice xxx

Would never recommend someone to stay there.
Cons:

I was forced to leave the hotel at approximately 10:30pm due to an overwhelming smell of fumes in my room, which made it impossible to stay. When I raised this issue with the front desk and requested an alternative room, I was told that the hotel was fully booked and no other accommodation could be offered (even after I offered to pay the difference for a more expensive room).

Given the circumstances, and trying to be understanding, I explained that I had no option but to leave and find another hotel late that night. The front desk assured me at the time that I would not be charged for the stay.

I then had to secure alternative accommodation at short notice, which caused considerable stress. I believed the matter had been resolved until I noticed that I have since been charged by the Portobello Hotel regardless.

Charging me after explicitly confirming that I would not be charged, particularly when the issue was caused by an uninhabitable room, is extremely disappointing and, in my view, shows very poor faith

Pros:

I absolutely loved the style, décor, and facilities of the room — the hotel has real personality and charm throughout. The location is perfect for exploring the Notting Hill neighbourhood, with so much right on your doorstep. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the toiletries were beautiful, and both the shower and bath were excellent — everything felt thoughtful and high quality.

Cons:

The lift was out of order so there were a few stairs to contend with

Pros:

We stayed in the Best Room and it truly was the best experience. The staff on site were all extremely kind and attentive, and they really make you feel at home. The property was perfectly located just steps from the famous Portobello Road. Everything was perfect. Thank you for making our stay so special, we will be returning next time we are in London!
