Wow - what an amazing friendly team creating such a peaceful sanctuary rich in Indonesian tradition and culture. Special mentions to Arief, Gisel, Affan, Daffa, Arya, Riyan, Diki, Ahmad, Ranny, Diah and Cecep. Arief and Gisel helped guide us to some lovely local experiences. The hotel has beautiful tropical grounds that we admired whilst being introduced to local coffee by the expert baristas Arfan and team. They made us all varieties of Indonesian coffee and Machas. Arief and the team made our family feel incredibly welcome and special, including taking our son under their wing sharing their beautiful culture.

Firstly I love the place omg our room was so beautiful and comfortable. Secondly, all of the staff made us feel so welcomed. We had breakfast at their restaurant and Arief served us during our stay and he is the nicest person we have ever met. We wish him all the best and hope to meet him again the next we are back in Jakarta. Also, I fell ill during our first night (not even within 24 hours) and they took care of me throughout the night by making sure I arrived at the hospital safely (they drove us there) and they even stayed in the hospital with us until I was discharged. The next few days, everyone came up to me and made sure I was feeling okay. I honestly cannot thank them enough for their hospitality and I am really glad my boyfriend chose this place because it was the best thing that happened to us in Jakarta. We will definitely come back again, once again thank you to everyone there for making the stay so memorable and special. This place will always have a place in my heart :)

We had a wonderful family stay at The Dharmawangsa Jakarta last weekend. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The butler service was attentive, warm, and genuinely made us feel at home throughout our stay.

The hotel itself is beautifully maintained, offering a timeless sense of luxury with elegant Indonesian architecture, spacious rooms, and peaceful surroundings. Every detail reflects the high standards that The Dharmawangsa is known for.

The facilities were excellent, especially for families. We thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel provided the perfect escape from the busy city. The dining experience was also outstanding, with delicious food and attentive service.

What truly sets The Dharmawangsa apart is its people. Every member of the staff greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism, making our stay memorable from beginning to end.

A special thank you to our butlers, Kinan and Irwan, for their thoughtful and personalized service. Their attention to detail made our stay even more enjoyable.

We highly recommend The Dharmawangsa Jakarta to anyone looking for a luxurious, peaceful, and truly memorable stay in Jakarta. We look forward to returning again soon.

I’ve been staying at the Dharmawangsa since 20 years ago and the quality of service has been consistently great. One of the best hospitality in Jakarta, I must say. Love how they keep the surroundings lush, quiet and serene. Perfect for weekend rest within the city.

I completed a three-night stay at The Dharmawangsa and left genuinely shocked by the condition of the property. The hotel is marketed as classic and luxurious, but the facilities I experienced felt neglected and far below what should be acceptable at this price level.

The lifts had a strong stale, damp smell throughout my stay. The corridor carpets were worn, frayed, and visibly dirty. The room itself was not much better. The bathroom felt like it had not been meaningfully renovated in decades, with old fixtures, poor drainage, and a persistent stale urine odor around the floor and tiles. The air-conditioning was also inconsistent.

The service staff were the one redeeming feature. They were polite and tried to maintain a professional standard, but staff cannot fix a property that needs major capital investment. The issue here is not attitude or hospitality. The issue is the physical condition of the hotel.

This is not “heritage luxury.” It is an aging property trading on its old reputation. Until the hotel undergoes a serious renovation, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere in Jakarta.

Enjoyed a wonderful three-night stay at The Dharmawangsa. The staff were extremely gracious and helpful. The hotel rooms were spacious and well maintained. We appreciated the displays of Indonesian culture throughout the property. Special thanks to the hospitality team of April, Fufu, Ari, and Arief for their kindness and for educating us about local food and beverages.

Excellent hotel. It embraces an Indonesian cultural theme and offers a warm, home like atmosphere while maintaining a high level of privacy. I highly recommend it to guests who want to enjoy a stay that feels just like home.
Most importantly, the service provided by the hotel staff is truly exceptional, especially Butler Arib. He was always smiling, and ready to help when I was confused about the location of a wedding event. He kindly guided me to the venue and made sure I found my way. I also greatly appreciated Arib kindness when I saw him giving a chocolate cake to a young child in the hotel lounge. His thoughtful gesture reflected the genuine hospitality and care that make this hotel so special.

First of all, my husband and I, we love the Dharmawangsa Jakarta. We always stay in this hotel for a long period of stay every time we visit our family in Jakarta. Our stay in this hotel at minimum is a three-week stay. We gave a 5-rating for this hotel in our previous TripAdvisor review.
I did a solo trip this time in February 2026 and after long hours flights from the U.S, I felt like I needed a very good and authentic Indonesian massage.

I chose the option to have in-room massage and there where I met Ibu (Indonesian to call a Mrs) Diani, the masseuse from the Bimasena Spa at the Dharmawangsa Jakarta.
She is a super nice lady, polite and very professional. She prepared everything efficiently and I could tell from the very beginning of the massage that she is a very skillful and an experienced masseuse! I was originally from Indonesia and always loved good strong Indonesian massage and she really delivered it by using a real proven technique. Of course, If you like it less strong, she could also do it for you as she would ask if you like it strong and less. She wanted to make sure you would feel comfortable and enjoy the massage.
I did really enjoyed her massage and I felt super relaxed afterwards. That massage really helped me to get a very good sleep that evening and got through my jet lag quickier. I learned from Ibu Diani that she's been in the spa business as a masseues for an over two-decade and she really enjoys working for the Dharmawangsa Jakarta for most of those decades.

If you happen to stay in the Dharmawangsa Jakarta and need a really good Indonesian massage, I highly recommend Ibu Diani!
