Peerless Hotel Durgapur

The last time we visited this property (mid August 2025) the experience was less than spectacular. This time around it was better but there is a lot left to improve.

Location: it is well marked on maps, can be easily accessed via a service road from the NH by going around the Junction Mall

Check-in experience: when we arrived for check-in the staff were engaged in addressing an injury to a guest at a banquet. The trainee at the front desk was capable and competent in attending to the check-in workflow while coordinating with emergency services for the delay in availability of an ambulance. It was truly wonderful to observe the focus, calmness and composure.

Rooms: the last time we had a room that was not up to spec. This time the room was better but room preparation (room readiness for guests) requires more attention. We had back and forth with housekeeping to ensure towels were stocked properly for two guests. The en-suite is clean and hot water is available. However, the shower area does not come with a curtain which results in the entire floor being wet if the shower is used. Additionally, the mirrors were left uncleaned prior to the arrival of the guest. This is not a good experience. Similarly, there's grime and dust on the rims of the lampshades next to the bed (something one gets to see when one is lying down and the lights are on) - a good supervisor would have figured this out quite quickly.

Food: the staff direct one towards the buffet which is a serviceable and limited spread of dishes. And that is both interesting and seems to be the trend in hotels at this price band. The food on offer is not too great and you'd likely get better food in places around the hotel.

Parking: there is open parking available inside the premises.

The room we were allocated was right near the staircase which means that the loud music and noise from the birthday party at the banquet hall from the first floor kept us from having rest until it was 10PM. Interacting with the front desk to request that they ask the guests to keep the doors closed at the banquet hall resulted in a "they are having a party, there will be noise" response. Which goes a long way in demonstrating how much agency or training the staff has.

Peerless Hotel in Durgapur used to be a good place to stay, but the quality and service have deteriorated significantly. The rooms are poorly maintained, the beds are small, and the AC makes more noise than it provides cooling. The charges are far higher than the level of service offered.

Breakfast is just okay, but dinner has become quite bad — strange food combinations, limited buffet spread, and a menu that makes little sense. You’ll often find plain rice, dal, and a basic veg fry served alongside Chinese fish or chicken, which feels odd and unplanned.

If the hotel is hosting a wedding, their entire attention shifts to the wedding guests, and regular guests are barely cared for. The rooms feel stingy and very basic, yet the pricing is on the higher side. Overall, the experience no longer justifies the cost, and the hotel needs serious improvement.

It’s a total waste of money. Staff needs proper training.

Also need good dress for staff. Max dirty dress.
Food quality and quantity also below average. Bad than any other road side hotel selling rice.

3rd class sleep quality in the loan waiting party was playing loud music till 2 o'clock in the midnight nobody was trying to help me out including the receptionist the duty manager was missing there was nobody to help me out the receptionist told me that he is unable to handle this situation order for a grilled chicken sandwich the staffing was full of bones of chicken

I booked hotel for two days for my wife and mom. I was anxious for the safety of their stay. But everything was very pleasant.
Food was very much delicious.
Will book again.

The behaviour of the Manager is very bad. Since I did not carry my wife's ID , he told me to leave the hotel, or when I could show the ID, then he would allow the check-in for my wife. He also said that he can allow me to check in since I was carrying my ID, but my wife has to wait in the lobby until she shows the ID, and I repeatedly requested him that I will submit by 7 pm at night. He is showing his system rule.

The hotel environment was clean, peaceful and relaxing, perfect for unwinding after a long day. The amenities, especially the pool and gym, were well maintained and added great value to my stay. Special thanks for Mr.subhasish and Mr Sukumar Ghosh

The room was spotless and very comfortable and clean. Everything was well-maintained, and I truly felt at home. where Mr Subhash makes my stay confortabel

The property is located just off the NH and is easily accessed by roads which are in a state of disrepair. Google Maps does a good job of directing to the correct roads (which should ideally be extensively repaired, but such is the situation at many places in WB).

The property itself shows evident signs of wear and tear. There are notices of upgrades underway, but the present experience is poor. We booked a Superior room and were also directed to a ground within the premises as a place to park our vehicle. All parking spaces are uncovered.

The poor training and awareness of the staff is a big contributor to a not so pleasant guest experience. At the check-in a staff member (perhaps floor manager of the restaurant) edged in because they wanted to have a conversation with the reception staff. And then continued to be at the reception without any consideration for the guest they displaced. So, we had to remind the staff to complete the check-in and hand the key card. Funny anecdote - the hotel does not seem to provide two key cards for a room. The gentlemen at the reception mentioned that "everyone takes one key card only" - which is odd given guests could decide to have separate times at which they use the room at the hotel.

It is usual to assume that each visit to a food line at the buffet should be with a new/fresh plate. However, the restaurant staff are not familiar with the concept. So they never clear the table of stacked used plates. They come over multiple times to ask about food but do not check if the guest needs a water refill. This was the pattern on both days of dinner. Also, they talk with each other in loud voices across the room - something that would not be common in other properties.

The rooms suffer from similar lack of care and trained staff. Our allocated room had the main curtains off the hook at places and it was obviously never fixed, the sofa has grease stains that were not cleaned. However, the more alarming item was that electrical switches are lacking the spring action (for even the electrical outlets) and no one has gone ahead and fixed it. There were two guests to the room - yet the housekeeping staff turned the room around by stacking the pillows on one end of the bed. A rather odd habit I'd say.

Both housekeeping staff and front desk were flabbergasted when asked about the absence of hand towels at the basin. Eventually had to purchase a set from the nearby Junction Mall. The bed linen needs better wash or change as well. The large windows in the room are grimy on the outside and become ugly in the evening lights.

The breakfast spread is poor in terms of fiber and protein options. But perhaps that’s what the guests want. The dessert section is not worth a mention - and I think that the gulab jamuns on offer on the 16th were from the same stock that was put out for dinner on the 15th.

I am sure there are better properties which are value for money.

Good place for stay with claim and quite. All staff are good. Room service are not upto the mark. All other services are very prompt

The one of the most clean and hygienic hotel I have ever seen. Check in and Check out time need to be flexible for example I booked in a room for a day so check in time is from 2:00 pm to next day 11:00 am but I arrived at 10 pm so if the check in time is 10 PM check out time needs to be at least next day 7:00 pm but check out time as per booking rule was next day 11:00 am. So the time flexibility has to be improved. The hotel staffs and authorities are so good that they flexibly adjusted our stay next day till 1:00 pm. I appreciated it very much. I really want to stay there again. I request the hotel authority kindly to make some adjustment in check in-check out time flexibility for those who arrive at hotel during night. It is very good hotel everyone was polite.

I had one of the worst experiences during my recent stay at this property. In the evening, I tried ordering a hot beverage, only to discover that the “4” button on the in-room phone—needed to reach Room Service—was non-functional. I then contacted the reception, where a polite lady assured me that someone from the kitchen would call me within 2 minutes. No one did. I had to follow up twice and eventually go downstairs myself just to order tea.

But the real shock came at around 11:30 PM when another guest entered my room using a key card. I was absolutely stunned. I had checked in much earlier and was assigned that room—how could this even happen? I informed the reception immediately. Not only was there no apology or sense of urgency, but the staff also treated the whole incident far too casually. This is a gross breach of guest security and completely unacceptable.

If a woman had been staying alone in that room, the consequences could have been incredibly distressing. The lack of professionalism, safety, and basic courtesy from the hotel staff was appalling.

Despite the glowing ratings from other guests, my experience at Peerless Hotel – Durgapur was overwhelmingly negative. I sincerely hope the management takes guest services and convenience more seriously going forward.

Pillow and bedsheet were neat and clean, surrounding area was superb, restaurant nicely organized with various options of food.

Food was testy with many varieties. Ambiance also very pleasant.

Specially, live counter preety fast. Very nice stay.. room is good ... Service is too good... Thanks to all staff ... All food is good.............

This hotel is located in the middle of the city the climate is very beautiful and the room is very clean and fresh linen infact the bathroom is very clean I love to stay in this hotel I also tell other to say in this hotel the staff was very helpful and polite.
