Great hotel, Food ok. Staff brilliant.
Pros:

Self drive through Alfa Holidays. Chose this hotel as I was told there was a big car park at the front of the hotel for about 50 cars. Alas there was parking for just about 5 cars. However I always found a space as many of the visitors were part of a coach tour.
The hotel itself is very nice and the staff were extremely polite and worked very hard.
Food is basic and portions were small but everything we had was very tasty indeed.
Our room was a superior room at the front of the hotel and it was massive with a roll top bath and walk in shower. Tea coffee milk was replenished every day and the room cleaned daily with fresh towels on request.
The only problem I had with the hotel was the dining room which was over 40 degrees every day due to the good weather. Eating dinner was extremely uncomfortable. I appreciate there is no way of controlling the weather but sun screens or blinds on the windows and roof would make dinner a little more bearable.
Well done to all the dining room staff who worked tirelessly to ensure quick service.
Entertainment was hit and miss with bingo every night and a singer on most nights.
Would I return, yes probably I would but maybe not in the heat of the summer.

Pros:

Very good hotel, enjoyed staying, nice pool & location.

Cons:

Only disappointment was waiting over 10 minutes for the barman to be found as people were waiting to get drinks

Would definitely come back regardless
Pros:

The hotel was lovely and just as I remembered it. Good things sometimes need to stay the same and this iconic hotel is one of them. Shame Bournemouth itself is so awful 😖
The staff are so helpful. The prices very reasonable. We loved sitting in the courtyard.
On the down side it does have the feeling that you are in an upper class old folks home

Cons:

The restaurant catered for the elderly coach parties with limited menu and the restaurant closes very early

Very poor attitude
Pros:

Bumped out of staying here as hotel claimed no hot water in room. They would not let me see room and we patiently explained that no hot water was no problem
Staff offered no assistance to find alternative accommodation.
We believe they resold room at higher price.
Total waste of time and Booking.com offered fully booked places or a highly substandard one well away from beach at an exorbitant price.
Very poor service by Norfolk Royale hotel and Booking.com

Hotel resold room and provided no help to reaccomodate
Pros:

Bounced out under false reason.
Out Booking.com was cancelled 1 hour before checkin after a 4 hour journey as the hotel claimed that the boiler was broken and no hot water gor the room. They were unable to show me the room and I patiently explained we were used to not having hot water to no avail.

The hotel most likely sold the room at a higher price and couldnt deny it.

Highly disruptive and immoral for us with 2 small children and infirm lady.

Booking.com offered 4 alternatives 3 of which were fully booked and the 4 was very very inferior and twice as expensive as the prebooked Norfolk Royale weeks before.

Absolute scam and ruined our one holiday of the year involving much extra expense.

Pros:

The hotel was fantastic and our room was huge. Met some lovely people along the way. Sadly the food was not so good. Very poor. The staff worked really hard and were always very polite even when under duress. Bournemouth itself has become very run down sadly

Won’t be staying again
Pros:

The outside of the building looks nice

Cons:

Bed is uncomfortable has lumps, there is dust everywhere, the pool has broken tiles to which cut my foot and the only thing staff was worried about was using my towel to cover the blood up and was made to walk a different direction back to my room so no one saw me, I think for a 4 star hotel it needs a lot of work ie rooms updated and new mattresses, cleaning, fix the pool from broken tiles, the morning breakfast instead of staff getting rude because you have asked to pay for two days and was told no we don’t do that which is fine but being rude is a no.. I won’t be staying here again the whole experience was a shamble from the start to finish.
