Cleanliness
6.5
Multiple reviews mention dusty rooms and need for more attentive housekeeping; cleanliness is a clear weakness.
Service
10
Staff repeatedly praised as very friendly, helpful and accommodating (late arrivals, food after hours, honeymoon upgrades); outstanding hospitality noted.
Location
9.5
Convenient for Gatwick Airport (10–15 minute drive) while being peaceful and rural; guests appreciated the gardens and quiet (no aircraft noise).
Room Quality
8
Rooms are large and comfortable (very good beds/pillows) but several guests noted dated decor and some parts of the hotel are less renovated.
Amenities
7.5
Good grounds, gardens and some thoughtful extras (fan, upgrades), but minor amenity issues noted (no visible hair-dryer in one room, bar was criticised).
Value for Money
8.4
Standard quality for this hotel tier.
Food and Beverage
7.8
Breakfast received positive comments (perfect poached eggs, friendly service) but bar was called 'not very good' and breakfast service was occasionally understaffed.
Overall Experience
9.5
Overall very positive sentiment—guests describe an enjoyable, charming and peaceful stay and many would return; minor service/cleaning issues do not outweigh positives.

Another lovely visit to a bit of heaven
Pros:

So near the airport ,great metro bus service from close by, directly to airport for 3 pounds.5 minute walk, lovely breakfast made to order. Lunch and dinner are lovely, but didnt have either on this occasion.Comfortable spacious room. Bed divine.Waterfall shower amazing, very very clean room. Beautiful grounds and fantastic walks locally.. this is my 5 visit, never disappoints.

Cons:

One one negative, and it doesnt really affect me, but I would love to see the pond on the grounds cleaned out at some stage, so much algae, and i feel bad for the ducks and any pond life. I know its dried up from the extreme heat this summer, but the pond has been algae ridden for a few years. It be lovely to see it cleaned.

Wonderful location - awful service
Pros:

They loation is wonderfull

Cons:

The hotel is not maintained, a lot of lights didn’t work in the room, faucet parts missing, tiles loose and cracked in the bathroom. Also, the service is a disaster. We waited for 45min to get breakfast, only to discover an empty buffet. When you order a beer, you get a ginger ale, electricity outages several times in our rooms. The terrace tables were never clean, glasses and dirty ‘rings’ were visible always… We travel with young kids and asked adjacent rooms, which was confirmed after booking. When we checked in, we got two rooms in separate houses, could not have been further away…
It is sad to see that a location with so much potential doesn’t offer the service it should. Really disappointed :(

A pleasant overnight stay.
Pros:

The staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a splendid old building. The bedroom was larger than expected. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal and breakfast.

Disappointed, unkept and tired hotel.
Pros:

Not much, the staff did try.

Cons:

Unkept, dirty and tired hotel. The Langshott has had its shot. I had to get them to clean our room twice a 2nd time. Kept running out of loo paper. No fridge in the room. No aircons. No service when you want a drink at the bar we had to keep finding the staff? Overall very disappointing - we won’t return.

Historical hotel, with very historical rooms...
Pros:

This is a really old hotel (which is nice), but the accomodation (rooms) are old and porely furbished.

Cons:

I expected a more charming hotel, with beautiful rooms (as marked on the website), but the room we got was really porely furbished.

Massively disappointed and terribly misrepresented. Restaurant food is surprisingly great
Pros:

The restaurant food was incredible. Huge surprise. The staff where young but great

Cons:

What a massive disappointment! It is nothing like the photos. There is nothing luxury about this hotel. Tired and poorly maintained.

Great base location and quiet, lovely breakfast and staff were very accommodating
Pros:

Breakfast was really good, it was not a buffet but you order directly so always fresh and hot. The room we were in was one of the rooms outside of the main hotel, this was great and quiet even though we were beside the main entrance. The road to the hotel is mainly for the hotel so did not have a lot of traffic.
Overall though a great base location for travelling around

Cons:

The room we were in was one of the rooms outside of the main hotel, this was great but not sure how I would feel in the winter or rainy seasons having to go for breakfast in the main hotel.

Pros:

Beautiful historic building, nice gardens, and location is convenient for Gatwick Airport. I also really appreciated the late check-out. 13.00 rather than 11.00 with no additional charge.

Cons:

The rooms were rather dusty, which is partly explained by the historic nature of the building, but a more attentive staff would not have allowed this.
On Sunday, there was only one waitress covering breakfast, and she was clearly struggling despite only having 4 or 5 tables.
