So near the airport ,great metro bus service from close by, directly to airport for 3 pounds.5 minute walk, lovely breakfast made to order. Lunch and dinner are lovely, but didnt have either on this occasion.Comfortable spacious room. Bed divine.Waterfall shower amazing, very very clean room. Beautiful grounds and fantastic walks locally.. this is my 5 visit, never disappoints.
One one negative, and it doesnt really affect me, but I would love to see the pond on the grounds cleaned out at some stage, so much algae, and i feel bad for the ducks and any pond life. I know its dried up from the extreme heat this summer, but the pond has been algae ridden for a few years. It be lovely to see it cleaned.
A lovely historic building . Beautiful inside and out . We stayed with our dog in a beautifully set up room to make us all welcome . . The staff were very helpful ,. The grounds were great to walk around .
Nothing
They loation is wonderfull
The hotel is not maintained, a lot of lights didn’t work in the room, faucet parts missing, tiles loose and cracked in the bathroom. Also, the service is a disaster. We waited for 45min to get breakfast, only to discover an empty buffet. When you order a beer, you get a ginger ale, electricity outages several times in our rooms. The terrace tables were never clean, glasses and dirty ‘rings’ were visible always… We travel with young kids and asked adjacent rooms, which was confirmed after booking. When we checked in, we got two rooms in separate houses, could not have been further away…
It is sad to see that a location with so much potential doesn’t offer the service it should. Really disappointed :(
History
Very tired
The staff were welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a splendid old building. The bedroom was larger than expected. We enjoyed a very nice evening meal and breakfast.
Dinner was very nice on the Friday night in our own private dining room.
We were told that breakfast was served until 10 am on Sunday, but then were told we couldnt have breakfast because they stopped serving at 9.30 am. Sulky serving staff
The old worldly feeling was still there, but modern and comfortable
All was good
Not much, the staff did try.
Unkept, dirty and tired hotel. The Langshott has had its shot. I had to get them to clean our room twice a 2nd time. Kept running out of loo paper. No fridge in the room. No aircons. No service when you want a drink at the bar we had to keep finding the staff? Overall very disappointing - we won’t return.
This is a really old hotel (which is nice), but the accomodation (rooms) are old and porely furbished.
I expected a more charming hotel, with beautiful rooms (as marked on the website), but the room we got was really porely furbished.
The restaurant food was incredible. Huge surprise. The staff where young but great
What a massive disappointment! It is nothing like the photos. There is nothing luxury about this hotel. Tired and poorly maintained.
Stunning building
Run down and tired looking bedroom. Very dusty in the room.
Breakfast was really good, it was not a buffet but you order directly so always fresh and hot. The room we were in was one of the rooms outside of the main hotel, this was great and quiet even though we were beside the main entrance. The road to the hotel is mainly for the hotel so did not have a lot of traffic.
Overall though a great base location for travelling around
The room we were in was one of the rooms outside of the main hotel, this was great but not sure how I would feel in the winter or rainy seasons having to go for breakfast in the main hotel.
Friendly helpful staff
Room was very spacious and clean, staff very friendly
All Positive
Beautiful historic building, nice gardens, and location is convenient for Gatwick Airport. I also really appreciated the late check-out. 13.00 rather than 11.00 with no additional charge.
The rooms were rather dusty, which is partly explained by the historic nature of the building, but a more attentive staff would not have allowed this.
On Sunday, there was only one waitress covering breakfast, and she was clearly struggling despite only having 4 or 5 tables.
