It is a quiet location and being a listed building it has old English charm if that’s all you want.
The photos used on the web site appear to have been taken shortly after the hotel was refurbished and I suspect the hotel may now have different owners. The furniture is now grubby and the garden furniture rusty and some of the parasols broken. The garden isn’t being maintained well and is overgrown. Even some of the uniforms worn by the staff have seen better days. The breakfast room looked like it had been abandoned and even though it was empty we couldn’t sit at a table because they hadn’t been cleaned down. There was very little choice on the small square table for breakfast so we had the cooked breakfast, which was all over cooked. We appreciate the heat wave was exceptional but the room was hot, stuffy and stale and the shower could only be used if you knelt down on your knees !
Full of character, Tudor Manor House. Lovely relaxed feel about the place, very helpful and friendly staff. Super restaurant. Would highly recommend.

Nada. Todo perfecto.

We were looking for some something different from the standard airport hotel, prior to our holiday departing from Gatwick, and this is exactly what we found. This quirky hotel, offering not only a four-poster bed but a four-poster bath, offered a comfortable, warm and very different start to our holiday. We were given a free upgrade to a suite of rooms - to our considerable satisfaction, having booked an attic bedroom - and were able to live like landed gentry from some bygone era (for one night, at least). The restaurant was excellent, too, and was able to cope with our vegetarianism - no need to feast on wild boar, thankfully. The grounds were extensive and very relaxing to stroll in, despite the rain….
Beautiful hotel in lovely gardens, staff very professional and attentive, our room was upgraded which was a lovely gesture thank you.
The only comment I have is breakfast dishes could be removed quicker although this very minor and certainly would not stop me from recommending and staying again.
Nothing really.
Room was dirty, a member of staff was rude. Breakfast took too long and items on menu were missing.
Rural but handy for airport. Unique.

The hotel was nice and the room was very pleasant
Staff at check-in were friendly and helpful
The restaurant was supposed to be a 2AA Rosette standard.
I ordered Raviolli, only to be told the chef couldn’t do the menu choice as they had no potato for the potato and spinach ravioli, so they offered to do it with Feta, I agreed, then I’m told that they can’t make this as the ravioli keeps exploding in the water (obviously not sealing them correctly !).
So then I’m offered a pea and feta something, I agree, what I got can only be described as bland, and tasteless, it was pea purée, with peas on top with feta.
I’m not a vegetarian, but on this evening, I really fancied a nice simple ravioli dish.
If this is a 2AA standard, then they should be able to make ravioli and at least have a potato on hand. Makes me think this was all pre-made (or not as it would seem in this case).
Honestly, about the 5th review I’ve ever left, but the food was so bad, I have to write this.
The staff went out of their way to help me with a late check in and offer me assistance with a hurt knee.
Fantastic historic building with lovely garden area and really comfy beds.
