The location is good, takes you 25 min to the city centre. Hotel has a nice park around it.
Special thanks to the ladies at breakfast. They were absolutely brilliant. Especially Olena and another lady cannot remember her name, I think it was Dora
Rooms are small
Very welcoming staff. The hotel is beautiful and the surroundings.
Nothing
We had a beautiful Celebration of Life meal in The Minstral’s Gallery in The Lounge in St Helen’s yesterday afternoon. Victoriya looked after our party with discreet professionalism, the food was a complete delight - all the staff were so attentive. Highly recommended.
Thank you for very enjoyable experiences in St Helens .. especially to Victoria and her team who she has very good relationships with and this has an impact on the onward experience we receive. Victoria and the team are very engaging, very nice to deal with pleasant and responsive. The pianist is excellent and we enjoy going when he plays on Saturday nights. We look forward to returning - James and Irene :)..... ❤️
From the manicured gardens to the period interior details in the common areas, St. Helen's has all the charm and character of an 18th-century property. Nadine at the front desk was not only very efficient but also very pleasant. Doce and the servers at breakfast were impressive in how they handled the rush of diners every morning, all while remaining gracious. The buffet breakfast was hearty and offered an array of choices. Housekeeping was thorough.
Expect to dine at Orangerie or Talavera for dinner, as those are the only options since the property is located in a residential area close to the sprawling UCD campus. It takes 20 minutes via cab or Uber to get to the city center,
I gave it 3 stars because, for all the charm of the property, I was not very impressed with the room. We booked a Superior Family Room, which was the only category available a week before our trip. The carpet is old, and the bathroom fixtures are loose and wobbly. The sink faucet only seemed to run hot water most of the time. Plus, our experience with the gentleman who checked us in left a lot to be desired.
When we checked in, the gentleman who assisted us said we had a garden-facing room. As soon as we walked into the room, I laughed out loud and immediately picked up the phone. The reason? When you look out the window, all you can see is a hedge (see picture). On the other side of the hedge are a couple of parking spots. Beyond that is the circular driveway, and then the small front garden with the fountain. When I called the front desk to request a similar or better room (which we were more than happy to pay for) that didn’t look out into a hedge, it was like pulling teeth.
It’s disappointing that a property like this expects guests to stay in a room that looks straight out into shrubbery and not have any issues with it. There is no price at which I would have booked this room had I known this beforehand. Inferior accommodations in a “5-star” hotel is an oxymoron, but there you go.
Everything! Staff that go above and beyond and the quiet luxury of the hotel and its surroundings.
That I only stayed one night.
Stayed recently for business. Good location and facilities . Staff very helpful and good choice at breakfast. Decor inside very special.
From the moment we arrived there was a genuine welcome - the staff couldn't be more helpful. the room was comfortable and one of only a few where I actually had a good nights sleep.. Breakfast was great Poached eggs wer perfect..
no complaints ..
We spent two nights here for Valentines weekend. The good points were that staff were great, very welcoming, efficient, friendly and courteous. The food was terrific... highly recommend the chicken wings and short rib - melt in your mouth, would definitely come back for the food. The bad points were that the room was very dusty.... it had been a few weeks since some of the surfaces had been cleaned, especially behind the tea and coffee station. The furnishings and decor were in need of rejuvenation.. painting and polyfilla needed in a few places. We had booked the Talvera restaurant for a nice Valentines day dinner at 7pm but when we went down, it was in darkness and a staff member told us it was closed during the winter months. I made the booking a couple of months ago and they confirmed it by return email, so that was a bit odd and very disappointing. Having said that, we ate up in the lounge/bar area and the food was great. Breakfast was good and again staff were very nice... could have done with more staff around as we were waiting quite a while for coffee. The grounds are lovely and well kept but a few management/staffing/upkeep issues in the actual hotel.
the staff , food and accommodation was excellent
Location central to where we were going
On check in I was charged €60 deposit, this was cancelled and I was charged for the full stay again €206.10having already paid booking.com the full amount a number of days before check in. I still haven’t been reimbursed, and when I rang the accounts dept was given no satisfaction. Was down a lot of money I didn’t have which I needed at the time to pay for things. Very sneaky from the hotel/staff/policy maker. Made out it was €60, cancelled the €60 and charged me for full stay which had already been paid for. Still awaiting refund, have had to raise the charge with my bank
Amazing service from Eoin Sophie and last but definitely not the least Niamh they deserve a pay raise absolutely class people very grateful to have been served by them solid 6 stars if I could
