Location
Was booked when the hotel was St James. Got a Sheraton in remodeling stages. Elevator stripped to metal siding. Got to watch how marble countertops are installed at reception desk. Hard to get to room safe or sit on toilet.
The hotel has recently had a refurb. It was very modern and clean. Both the room and bathroom were very spacious. Even a fan was provided to help with the hot temperatures we've recently had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very good value for money and the location is superb and very central with an NCP carpark right at the side of it.
I honestly can't think of anything.
The staff were polite, great location and clean rooms
Booked the st james hotel by the time of the stay it had changed names. Under renovation when we arrived so barely any atmosphere. The rooms looked different to what I had booked because of the renovations and the tv wasn't working. I put on the booking that it was for a birthday visit and asked if they could do anything special. Maybe a room with an ok view. Nothing extra was done and we had a room with the view of multi story parking.
Fresh decoration as the hotel was tired.
1.Miserable staff on reception
2.Small room when I have mobility issues I had no room to get around the bed
3.The constant observation when eating breakfast
4.Not been pre..warned that all the facilities were not available due to the ongoing refurbishment
5.Told by the receptionist on checking out that I owed money when it was paid in full previously which was extremely embarrassing.
I have complained to the hotel but have had no response
Formerly ST James hotel, when I booked it ! This hotel is in the early days of a substantial refit, and it is already much brighter as you enter, and a far more pleasant environment to have breakfast in. The Wi Fi is good, the beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are clean.
The lady that checked us in was warm and friendly, but next to her sat an ice maiden, who never looked up, said a word, or acknowledged a lady waiting behind us to check in. Very poor at reception.
There is no bar at present, and the breakfast offering is very disappointing. No fresh coffee, just a hot tap and some sachets of Nescafé , so no corner left uncut there, very thin toast, which passes through the toaster 3 times before it stops being bread, and no option of fried eggs on the buffet, just watery scrambled something, and soggy hash browns, although the bacon was good and the mushrooms too. The room is far better than it was though.

Location and cost
No aircon or complimentary water just a fan to circulate the hot air. Also in the middle of a major refurb
Good location
Small room, toilet was not working properly,. Rooms could be cleaner.
Great location, hotel looking great after recent refurbishment, very comfortable.
Didn’t know about the very recent name change so wasn’t sure we were at the right place. Some work still to be completed.
Location is great just by the castle - by the hotel was undergoing renovation which meant facilities were limited (next to none, including kitcjen) and it was a pretty dusty and unimpressive experience.
The hotel was a partial buillding site. The unexpected hotel renovations (they had notified us that kitchen would be unavailable, not that the whole floorrs would be undergoing extensive rennovation or we'd never have stayed) was very unwelcome.
The lifts were messy (I assume they had removed the mirrored walls to avoid breaking glass during reception). The room was very long, but very narrow - so the large room area advertised was a bit meaningless. The staff had forgotten to stock the shower products on our first day.
A very unimpressive stay. That said, i recognise it was down to timing, when the work is complete and they have redone the hotel, i think they'll turn it into something very special. All the best on the changes...
Near the town centre, English breakfast was ok.
Breakfast opens at 7.30am.
Great location, rooms comfortable and a good variety of breakfast.
Lovely greeting from the reception staff
The property was undergoing a major refurbishment that we were not informed on pre our stay.
We booked as st James hotel, to find it was four points flex on arrival.
It was disappointing to not have the facilities of a bar and restaurant after traveling 18hrs, we were looking forward to dinner on arrival.
The elevators were half finished which I had to question with reception if they were safe to use.
The rooms were finishedish but comfortable and clean.
