Ocean front unobstructed views.
Pros:

We were very pleased to have chosen the Hotel Coral Reef for our three night stay. The hotel, despite its name is not a 'resort'. We were in the upstairs corner suite which is the size of two rooms with its full kitchen and separate bedroom. The hotel is right on the beach with the public walking path separating its lawn from the shore. So you get to watch the locals and tourists passing throughout the day. The ocean front rooms are in fact ocean front and unobstructed. It is in the heart of Kapaa town within easy walking distance of everything. Yes there are unhoused people living in the area. Yes traffic is horrendous. Neither of which are their responsibility but folks might like to know. Zero parking fees and zero resort fees make it a solid bargain. We would absolutely stay there again without hesitation.

Older part of the hotel is not pleasant for a real vacation.
Pros:

the location was great and we appreciated the complimentary beach chairs. There are also free loaner bicycles.AC was great and I did not hear a lot of road noise.

Cons:

I had walked by this hotel numerous times when staying in the area. We needed a place to stay for a night when between other bookings so I quickly chose this hotel. Although the booking indicated that our room would not face the water, and I was fine with that, it did not state that it was in the older portion of the hotel and not the larger and newer building. The place was small and I was concerned about cleanliness. Our minute balcony overlooked a dumpster.

Erwartet nicht zu viel Sauberkeit und genießt sowohl die schöne Einrichtung, als auch den Ausblick. Er ist es wert
Pros:

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Meer und ein Zimmer mit Meerblick ist das absolute Muss.
Das Zimmer verfügt über eine Klimaanlage, die sogar auf unseren Wunsch repariert wurde. Das ging Ruck Zuck. Überhaupt wenn man Wünsche äußerte oder es ein Problem gab, wurde alles sofort erledigt. Super Service!

Schön wäre es, wenn die zwei Damen in der Rezeption ein kleines Lächeln verschenken würden, das hat mich sehr irritiert, da ich es doch aus dem Gastservicebereich anders kenne.
Falls jemanden die Hühner nerven… Leute die gehören einfach zu Kauai … Niemand trifft hier die Schuld.

Cons:

Das Wifi ist absolut nicht gut, es stellt sich über Nacht ab und man muss sich immer wieder neu anmelden, was nicht immer funktioniert.

Einziges Mankos, es ist alles etwas schmuddelig und die Räume werden nicht gereinigt, außer man zahlt dafür extra. Auch roch es bei unserer Ankunft recht muffig. So dass ich erstmal Febreeze besorgte um Möbel. Vorhänge etc. damit einzusprühen. Danach war der Geruch erträglicher.

Pros:

The location was fantastic- the ocean is in the back yard. The staff was amazingly warm and welcoming. The room was very clean. Would definitely stay here again!

Pros:

La posizione era ottima e non bisogna pagare il parcheggio.

Cons:

L'hotel non è in buonissime condizioni. La camera era decadente e non pulita. Sullle lenzuola ho trovato ben 4 capelli lunghi non miei. Lo staff non l'ho trovato molto accogliente. All'arrivo non abbiamo trovato nessuno in reception (che solo li abbiamo scoperto che chiudeva alle 19.00). Il prezzo sproporzionato rispetto alla qualità della struttura.

Pros:

I loved the view and that the hotel provided beach chairs, small coolers, and bikes.

Cons:

The mattress on the bed was awful. It was like sleeping in a taco shell the sides were folded up so high. I kept finding myself being rolled to the middle during the night.

Excellent value.
Pros:

Great location and price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked having to have housekeeping in only at my request. The view out the sliding doors was great (it was the beach!) and the extra locks on the doors were simple but really effective and made me feel very secure. Also, the grounds were beautiful and very well kept.

Cons:

The mattress was a little old and not as comfortable as I would have liked. Also, there were a couple of roaches in the room. Although I must say that inasmuch as my room was on the first floor, it is probably to be expected given that immediately outside of the room is a garden and the beach.

Pros:

The staff were all very nice, had a lot of things to borrow ie movies, bikes, aloe, and we got a massage on the beach right outside our door! The bike path was really awesome to ride bikes on or just walk.

Cons:

Mattress was so old it had body indents, fridge was hard to open and close, dvd player was sticky and the remote didn’t work, large homeless community

I should have spent an extra $100 to stay at the Sheraton or the Hilton.
Pros:

The location being right on the beach.

Cons:

They knew we were a family of 4, I chose a room with 2 queen beds. When we arrived, we were given a room with 1 King bed and a pull-out sofa that had stains all over the cushions. The carpet has not been changed since the 70s, and the decor hasn't been changed since the 70s. The pull-out sofa frame was bent, and I had to go ask for a blanket for it.

Perfect Vaction !
Pros:

We spent our Christmas holiday's , 11 nights, at this hidden gem. What a welcome sight.
the staff very welcoming with Grandma's banana bread. The location was great, central to North and South beaches. The property, clean and bright. The room had all we needed. Ocean view, very comfy bed, the little extras were nice too. Rooster alarm clock every morning.
Parking, a little tight, but plenty of spaces.
We are already missing the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep. We will defiantly be coming back.
