Friendly service
The front steps. We are seniors and managing luggage on those stairs was quite difficult. A ramp would be useful and safer.
Very good
We stayed at the Glynmill Inn for two nights during our Newfoundland road trip after a rather challenging drive from Gander to Corner Brook in torrential rain. We broke up the journey with a stop at Deer Lake to grab something to eat before continuing on.
The Glynmill Inn has plenty of character, with its attractive Tudor-style architecture giving it a warm, homely feel. Our room was clean, comfortable and traditionally decorated in neutral beige and brown tones. We did have a small issue with the TV after checking in, but a quick call to reception had someone come to our room and the problem was soon resolved.
Breakfast is served at the table rather than as a buffet. While the staff were friendly and accommodating, the options for guests with dietary intolerances could be improved. There was gluten-free toast available, but no gluten-free cereal or dairy-free milk. I opted for the Coach Breakfast without the gluten-containing items, which worked well enough. The breakfast offer for hotel guests at CAD $10.99 per person was good value.
Our breakfast server was friendly and suggested we visit the Lark Harbour and York Harbour area, where she was from. After experiencing the Marble Zip Tour, we stopped for a late lunch at Myrtle's on the Bay in Lark Harbour before continuing to the beautiful Bottle Cove, where we enjoyed a short walk to the Captain Cook's End Trail monument. We returned via the Captain James Cook Historic Site, which was well worth a visit.
We also completed the Three Bear Mountain Trail, which rewards you with some excellent views over Corner Brook. Closer to the hotel, the lakeside walk is a nice way to spend some time, although we'd recommend doing it earlier in the day before the evening insects emerge.
Overall, the Glynmill Inn was a comfortable and characterful base for exploring the Corner Brook area. If I were rating the hotel on its stay alone, I'd probably describe it as "Good" rather than "Very Good", mainly because the breakfast options for guests with dietary requirements were quite limited. However, I felt it was certainly better than "Average", so I awarded it four bubbles.
Needs some updating
Beautiful property.

The history and atmosphere
Fantastic old classic hotel. At the last minute we decided to do down to Corner Brook, and booked a king suite with breakfast. Had dinner in the grill that evening and enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. It felt like something that should be in a National Park. Service and staff were great, the room super comfortable. So glad we stayed there.
Beautiful historical
Lovely old Inn in a great location. Loved the trail nearby for a beautiful walk
I think small disposable shampoos and conditioners have a negative impact on the environment. Most hotels are moving to refillable larger containers
We chose this Inn to experience the Victorian charm. Unfortunately we had very little time to explore as we arrived late and left early. Our room was in a newer wing. It was the largest hotel room I have ever stayed in--even dwarfing the King size bed (perhaps as large as 400 square foot). It was well decorated and very quiet.
I require a "comfort height toilet" the one in the room was quite low with no grab bars so my daughter had to help me up. I did not realize the property could have supplied a booster if I had asked.
