Gold Dust West Carson City

I am very impressed with the staff here, from the desk clerks to the maids who clean the rooms. They are all very pleasant and helpful. Some of the nicest hotel personnel I have encountered either in the states or Europe. The room was clean and comfortable also. We were here for five nights, but did not use the casino, as we were here to deal with issues related to a recent death in the family.

We were in the area to see a play at the Brewery Arts Center and decided to stop in to check out this casino.

Upon arrival, I was assisted by Ray at guest services. He was helpful, but when he directed my family member to the next window for assistance, the representative there ignored him completely. That kind of behavior was disappointing and didn’t set a great tone for our first visit.

After that, we played for over 30 minutes near the table games and keno area but didn’t receive any beverage service. Even after pressing the service light and asking a manager from the table games for help, no one came. After waiting close to 40–45 minutes, I decided to walk to the bar myself to get drinks.

Thankfully, the bartender Joseph completely turned things around. He was friendly, quick, and genuinely apologetic about the lack of floor service — he explained that servers typically make rounds every 20 minutes. His professionalism and kindness made a huge difference, and because of him, we chose to stay and enjoy the rest of our evening at the bar.

We later took advantage of our welcome prime rib dinner, which was a nice bonus.

Even though we don’t live in the area, we’ll definitely be back — especially when Joseph is working! He’s an outstanding representative for this casino and deserves recognition for his excellent customer service - he’s a 5 star !

Spent one night here to have a day in Virginia City. The hotel was fine, a little dated. The pool was good but not very well maintained. The free breakfast was not very convenient at all as it was at the casino attached to the hotel, and we were told there was a 45 minute wait, which was ridiculous- never experienced that at a hotel breakfast. Otherwise it was ok.

Quite a pleasant surprise to have breakfast at The Grill instead of in a conference room with the usual waffles, yogurt, cereal, etc.

Amazing experience

Clean, quiet room.

2 night stay for a mini staycation. Had a smoke smell even in a on-smoking room. Appreciated the included breakfast and the availability to access the gym. Safe parking lot and area. AC worked well and space in the junior suite was great. Shower pressure and temp wasn't as strong or high so made it hard for husband to shave his face but he managed. Would stay again

Very pleased with property and the staff

I needed a few days away from my responsibilities and Gold Dust West was ideal. The room was very clean and comfortable plus I enjoyed the food at the Grille.

Non smoking rooms smelled bad of smoke. Couldn’t get away of the smoke smell in the casino
