Room had smoking smell. In the first day air outside smelled like a pig farm
The hotel is dated and could use a deep cleaning. Slightly unpleasant smell in general and smelled like weed coming in the back door - I do realize it’s 2026 in Dane county, but still. In my case, I am allergic to most cats and some dogs. I sat in an upholstered chair for 15 minutes when we arrived and broke out in hives where my skin had contacted the chair. We left for several hours and things improved for me. I thought I could tough it out for the night but gave up 45 minutes after we returned when my breathing was impacted and my back broke out in hives. I had to stay somewhere else that night. I’ve never had a problem like this in any other hotel and I have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over North America, as I travelled for work for a decade. Even without the allergic reaction, I would not have been happy here. I’ve got to wonder who is writing their positive reviews.
The location was good for easy access to the Sun Prairie downtown area. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and there was nice space in the room.
There was confusion over whether booking.com was supposed to pay or if I should pay on-site. I was told that booking.com sent Quality Inn a virtual credit card but that it was declined so they wanted me to get ahold of booking.com to find out the issue. I could not find a way on the booking.com site to contact a person or get help on this, so it wasted a lot of time, was very frustrating and I could not get a room until the room was paid for. I convinced the desk clerk to let me pay directly on site, then I had to be sure to get a receipt on check out, which led to having to revisit the whole issue with another clerk.

The evening we checked in we found we could hear a loud tv in the room next door and when we spoke to the gentleman at the front desk about it because I needed to get to sleep for a very early job the next day and he allowed us to take a different room that was actually bigger at no extra charge.
The morning front dest lady was not very friendly
The location was nice and quiet.
The carpet felt damp
