I stayed at the hotel for two nights and had a total of five rooms booked.
Inside the room, there was a laundry bag provided among the room amenities. When checking out, I used this bag to carry some of my belongings because they didn't fit into my luggage. I had no intention of taking hotel property intentionally, and if I had been informed that the bag was not meant to be taken, I would have returned it immediately without any issue.
What I found completely unacceptable was the way the situation was handled. A female receptionist followed me all the way to my car and told me to leave the laundry bag behind. Being approached in the parking area over such a minor item was extremely disrespectful and embarrassing, especially after staying at the hotel with five rooms.
This is not the level of professionalism or hospitality I expect from a hotel of this standard. I would like to file a formal complaint regarding the receptionist's behavior and the way this situation was handled.
Waterfront and beautiful. Great views, quiet and clean.
Very expensive food. No worth the cost
We had a fantastic stay for our family of 6. We had two rooms that were connecting. Were very spacious and clean. Amazing views of Mt Pilatus and the lake. The hotel is small enough to feel like you are the only ones there. The bar was nice at the lobby. Good wine selection and good cocktails. Kids enjoyed the billiards table and playing games in the lobby with ice cream. The food at the beach bar and the restaurant was good. Hotel staff was very helpful.
I was concerned about being far from the city but the bus system was so easy and right by the lobby. Only took 10 minutes.
We used the stand up kayaks and pedal boat. We did not play Padel as you have to book separately from the resort. We also rented the cruiser boat for one day which was very fun.
Breakfast was good with a nice spread as well as made to order omelettes and champagne.
I wish the hotel filled the water carafes daily and I wish they had drink service on the lawn. Very minor issues.
Having the amazing service, fantastic views and private lake were absolutely amazing. It was our favorite spot of all the places we stayed on our 10 day trip. Could not recommend it more! It is the best.
What superb experience we had on our visit to the Hermitage on Lake Lucerne. The staff were exceptional, the room was fantastic with superb views of the lake and the mountains beyond. The food was of the highest quality and the service top notch. Our only regret was that we were only able to stay for one night
We had such a lovely stay at the Hermitage. The hotel is well designed and clean. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is top notch - helpful and friendly across the board. We really enjoyed sitting by the lake and using the stand up paddle boards. The hotel is a 10 minute bus ride to town and buses run from across the street every 10 or 15 mins. A bus ticket is included in the hotel stay. We did not eat in the restaurant or at the beach club. We were sad to leave and would absolutely return.
Great property in quiet location. Staff were very helpful & went beyond to accommodate our needs. Special thank to the concierge at the front desk. We really enjoyed our stay❤️
Beautiful view of the lake & very quiet.
Great view. And location
The gym can be a bit better.
Our stay at the Hermitage Hotel in Lucerne began promisingly. We were allocated Room 428, which had an attractive lake view, and we enjoyed a very good dinner on our first evening. Unfortunately, from that point onwards the experience steadily deteriorated.
The room itself had a number of shortcomings. There was no chilled drinking water on arrival, only a carafe with a wooden stopper that was too large to allow it to fit inside the refrigerator. The minibar was very poorly stocked, and the air conditioning was simply inadequate. Even on its maximum setting, the room remained uncomfortably warm. The bathroom had no hooks whatsoever for towels or clothing, which is a surprising omission in a hotel of this standard. Throughout our stay there was also an unpleasant drain smell in the room. I even tried running the hot water in the hope of clearing it, but without success.
The Wi-Fi was disappointingly slow throughout the hotel and in our room. Compared with other four- and five-star hotels, the internet performance was well below expectations.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. Apart from the staff who welcomed us on arrival, almost everyone else appeared disengaged. It was rare to receive even the most basic greeting or acknowledgement when passing staff in the corridors. There was little sense that guests were genuinely welcomed or valued.
Breakfast was particularly poor. While the selection itself was only average, the lack of service was completely unacceptable. On our first morning there was nobody at the entrance to greet guests, check room numbers, explain how breakfast operated, show us to a table or offer coffee. There appeared to be only two staff members on duty, and throughout the service I did not see either of them smile once. The whole atmosphere was joyless.
Basic items repeatedly ran out and were not replenished. Juice glasses disappeared and had to be requested. An empty bottle of Prosecco was simply placed to one side and never replaced. Following a storm the previous evening, one of the outdoor tables still had damp seating the next morning, yet guests were allowed to sit there without any attempt to dry it. Staff were rarely visible, making it difficult even to order cooked breakfast items from the menu, so we simply helped ourselves from the buffet.
To the hotel’s credit, I emailed a senior manager after the first breakfast to express my concerns. I received a prompt apology and an invitation to meet the Guest Relations Manager (“Gastgeber”) at an agreed time. However, when we arrived, reception telephoned him only to discover he could not be reached. After waiting around ten minutes, we left. It was a disappointing end to what was supposed to have been an opportunity to discuss the issues constructively.
Having since read many glowing reviews of this hotel, I can only conclude that our experience was very different. The Hermitage undoubtedly enjoys a wonderful location, but in our experience it has a significant problem with service standards and attention to detail. Attractive surroundings alone cannot compensate for an indifferent attitude towards guests.
Sadly, despite its setting, this is not a hotel to which I would wish to return and I would advise others to go elsewhere!
The Lake View
The service staff , no cleaning, standards were not acceptable and no room service options for kids.
Fabulous breakfast with a gorgeous view.
You can get eggs the way you like it and the breakfast buffet is excellent. Great coffee and a good fruit selection too
Absolutely nothing !
