Room was clean, I like that there was carpeting, vs a cold feeling laminate. I liked the property architecture aesthetic.
OMG, you have to get a stronger, boosted wifi signal - I was CONSTANTLY having to re-connect. my stay would have been so much better if not for that.
Lovely hotel in a great location
The location is great. Outside of the centre but an easy stroll to loads of good restaurants. The rooms are good, with a nice design, good showers and comfortable, reasonably firm mattresses. Clearly the hotel has been refurbished and extended in recent years so everything is quite modern.
We liked everything but noted that the older rooms don’t have central ac and there is noise in some of the newer rooms from the AC units on the roof. We were uncertain therefore whether we would stay here during hot weather
The man who checked us in was kind even tho i'd made a mistake on the booking. he gave us chips for a beverage in the bar, which was nice. I'd mentioned in my booking that it was our 50th wedding anniversary but no one said anything *shrug*
having to pay $30 just to park our car
My daughter and I did a girls trip to Santa Barbara and stayed at this location for the first time. It was a great experience!! Great customer service first of all. The room was exceptionally clean. I love the layout of the hotel. The pool is in the middle of the hotel and the restaurant. Just a few blocks from downtown shopping. I totally recommend this location.
Great hotel! The only thing that is negative is th $30 charge for parking. That is not acceptable in my mind. Parking should never cost that much, if at all.
location
room facing street (State Street)
My family and I took a last-minute road trip vacation and decided to visit Hearst Castle before heading back and staying two nights in Santa Barbara—and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. This location was absolutely perfect.
From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful, even recommending Sushi Tyme for fresh, to-go sushi—which my daughter loved. On our first evening, we walked to Milk & Honey for tapas and drinks and had a wonderful dining experience. The location is ideal for walking and exploring. There is so much to see and do just by staying on State Street and strolling toward the pier. The restaurants, great shopping, and pedestrian-friendly streets made it such a fun and easy place to spend time. We also walked to the Funk Zone and enjoyed wandering through its unique shops.
It rained heavily on our second night, but it turned into the perfect excuse to visit the Arlington Theatre—hands down the nicest theater we’ve ever been to. The theater is beautifully preserved, popcorn was fresh and the entire experience felt special and charming.
For breakfast the next morning, we stopped at Joe’s and enjoyed the best corned beef hash we’ve ever had. It truly felt like a community staple, with people greeting one another and servers who were warm and welcoming. Friendly staff, excellent food, and a wonderful atmosphere—what a perfect way to end our stay.
This trip was memorable from start to finish, and Santa Barbara completely exceeded our expectations.
We will definitely be back and stay at the courtyard on State Street!
This is a little gem in Santa Barbara! Great staff, generous sized rooms, and walkable to many great shopping and dining experiences on State Street. Chef’s kiss!
Very friendly staff, nice quiet clean room. Great experience. Nice size clean and comfortable room. Location was very close to downtown and many shops and restaurants.
Fantastic atmosphere and perfect location for the Funk Zone and downtown Santa Barbara. From walking down State Street and riding e-bikes along the beach.
Fun hotel with retro 60s decor. Close to downtown, safe, and clean. Seems to be a modern side and older side. Couls hear neighbors a bit but not bad. Would stay here again.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
I had a minor issue and the wonderful staff went the extra mile to make things right.
I appreciate the effort greatly!
Thank you for a super stay.

Hotel overall is great. Great location and well renovated rooms. However, my room 253 was a bit too noisy. It has one of those individual AC units that tuns all night. It also had some other motor outside going on and off overnight. So cooling/AC wasn’t great.
Shower was great. Great pressure. The shower gel/shampoo and conditioner could be better placed in the shower but it is what it is.
My wife and I had a wonderful and very comfortable three night stay. The staff was very friendly and provided helpful and on target advice on local restaurants. An extremely convenient location as regards access to the many good State Street restaurants and shops and not far from the wharf, beaches and mission.
This is a very good value for Santa Barbara. Recently renovated from La Quinta and everything is in great shape including a large pool area. We did not eat or drink here (SB being a foodie heaven) so can’t comment on that. We had a room with balcony over the pool and the noise was easily shut out by closing the sliding door. Room was large and nice shower and storage. Plenty of parking under hotel that is cheaper than the public parking near by, very unusual.
