The Capri hotel is an awesome place to stay, it is fun, clean and is completely updated and so comfortable!
The staff is super nice and helpful, and I would highly recommend it!!
This is my second year in a row doing a weekend stay at Capri Southampton. I like this place enough that I’m writing a review in hopes that management/ ownership will continue to keep this place on the up & up, and make improvements!
PROs:
-the gift baskets and snacks/ drinks in the rooms are such a nice touch
-I found my room both years to be clean; housekeeping does a good job.
-the pool is so nice and has floats
-there is coffee and small pastries in the lobby in the morning
-the room designs are cute; though the bathrooms are small, they are updated
-when the restaurant is not open, you can bring your own food/ drink to the pool area
-location is good; if you’re coming from the city, not having to go all the way to East Hampton or Montauk shortens the drive
CONs:
-the Capri’s biggest enemy is honestly Ketchy Beach.
My friends and I don’t mind the music from the club as many other reviewers do (no, I would not recommend this place if you want a quiet night’s sleep on the weekend in the summer, or have kids. I sleep with earplugs in half the time anyway, and I also noticed both years that staff put us towards the back of the hotel/ away from the club— so they do make effort. But yes, the music is loud on weekends. However in my two years staying here, I’ve never heard fighting or screaming after hours.)
I say Ketchy is the enemy because their service is terrible.
When we arrived Friday afternoon around 1pm, Ketchy wasn’t open yet. Therefore the pool wasn’t really ready for patrons. We couldn’t find towels. There was no one around to ask for cups for the wine we’d brought ourselves. The pool felt more apart of Ketchy than Hotel Capri, and since Ketchy wasn’t open yet— nothing in the pool felt prepped and it felt like the Hotel Capri staff ignores the pool & lets Ketchy’s staff manage it. It can’t be this way. That pool is a main selling point of the hotel/ main feature guests want to use. It needs to be ready for guests during all of its open hours.
- on Saturday, Ketchy becomes a pool party at the pool around 2pm— right when we got there this past year. We sat there in the lounges (which desperately need cleaned) for nearly 30 minutes before I had to get up and go get a staff member to take our order as we were told no outside drinks since the bar was open. If we can’t bring our own drinks, then perhaps someone would want to wait on us? The wait staff could not have cared less. It seems the bar/ restaurant exist separately from the hotel, but hotel guests are by no means going to make that determination when staying there. I was beyond frustrated that was at a hotel where I was paying nearly $1k a night to stay at this property, and I was being ignored by the staff at the pool. Half the time, the staff looked like they were partying rather than working. At one point it looked like a gentleman who maybe was the MANAGER of Ketchy just started swimming in the pool. It honestly felt like the staff was there to have a good time and not work.
-finally, some parts of the property are really starting to look rundown. The pool loungers need cleaned; it appears there was a ping pong table area or deck of some sort in the back but that’s all destroyed/ overgrown with weeds. It’s an eyesore. The fire pits could have been lit at night because it was chilly, but they weren’t.
This place can really be something— but owners/ management just need to make sure they show it the love it needs every year (and by god, please figure out the situation with Ketchy Beach).
Again: I understand peak season in the Hamptons and the prices, but you can’t charge $1k a night if you’re not going to upkeep the property and make sure the restaurant/ bar staff is a $1k a night level staff.
Love you otherwise Capri.
Can’t wait to come back next year!
Excellent
Old and run down property, vending machines are all broken which is an issue since there is no kitchen restaurant or room service available. The relationship between the Ketchy beach club and hotel is bizarre at past. On Saturday us and three other hotel
Guests were told by the restaurant that they had a pool party and if they sold the cabana we would be kicked out. When I followed up on Sunday with the hotel they said this simply wasn’t true. There were other guests that bought bottles simply not to be bothered. On Sunday there was no party but since the restaurant was closed there also was no way to get breakfast or lunch or a drink without leaving the hotel, which is on a high way so no way to walk anywhere
Not worth the price - only book if you absolutely know what you are getting into.
Service was extremely cold at best with the exception of the person working the desk on our last day.
Absolutely terrible place for families. We had to listen to drunk guests shouting in the hallways until morning, and the noise made it impossible to rest. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and very unprofessional. Definitely not a safe or family‑friendly hotel — I strongly recommend avoiding this place.
The restaurant on property and pool bar was closed during our stay. The shower had a little mold. The faucet was broken, and the door in the bathroom gets stock. The outside is cute but a little run down.
WORST MOTEL EVER!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY! AWFUL AND DOES NOT CATER TO ANY GUEST EXPERIENCE
The room was clean it’s good
I don’t like the location and it’s near the road restaurant open just on weekends cost expensive but plus need spend money on Uber to get to restaurants or to the ocean
Does not cater to hotel guests. The website warns the music may be loud until 2am when in fact it doesn’t shut down until 4am, then club goers spill out into the pool area and continue partying until after 5am. The front desk lies and says they have no control over the restaurant and don’t act on noise complaints. Great spot if you want to party and be around drugs until 6am.
Great s
Love everyone and this place! It's loud on holiday weekends but that is what you want!
Super pleasant front desk service
A vibrant property which is well loved. It worked for us mid week but might be a bit loud during party season on Friday and Saturday nights. Peak season pricing always stings.
Convenient hotel location. Wonderful staff. Room was clean and organized. Quiet
This hotel was terrible and severly over priced. The room was small for 2 double beds & the floor was very dirty. Two towels for 3 adults. Had to ask for a 3rd towel again on the 2nd night. The third day they never bothered to service our room. I went twice & asked for the manager. No manager. No one follows up. Phone in room is dead. Parties at pool bar after midnight the 1st two nights. Thus morning at check out, front door locked. Sign saying back at 8 am. Called the emergency number and you get a voice recording. No one bothers to call you back. The place is very run down. AC starts & stops all night. Bright light outside of bedroom. Blinds let in tons of light. So try sleeping with a lite room, on and off AC & pounding pool music. I travel extensively. This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in & it cost just under $1000 Canadian dollars per night. Horrific experience for ALL three of us who went to Southampton for a work weekend.
The dj/club music plays so loud we could feel it through the bed, from the time we arrived around 3pm and wanted to rest before an event and continued until after 4am. If you're there to go to the club, this is your place. If you're not, recommend booking elsewhere.
