If you told me I was the first human to step on this property in 15 years, I’d believe that. The hotel is a step back in time. Room was poorly maintained and dirty. Door to bathroom didn’t open because it hit the toilet (with a ring from stagnant water). 2 of the 3 shower products were empty. Common areas aren’t bad, just dated. Hotel management needs to focus on renovating a dozen or two rooms and do a good job with those. Then continue the cycle.
I have no idea how this place has a 4 star rating.
Room 170.
TLDR: for the price, stay somewhere else.
I stayed here in mid-October. Our room and the hotel common areas were unbearably warm. When I asked why our room wasn't cooling down I was told it was because the air conditioning was off for the year. It was 80 degrees outside! The Internet signal is weak and unreliable, meaning the streaming-reliant TVs don't always work. The shampoo and body wash pumps in the bathroom didn't work, which I didn't learn until I was already in the shower. Expect to be hot, without Internet, and bring your own toiletries.
The staff were apologetic and kind. But unable to fix the issues we had. While outdated, the hotel is clean and offers breakfast. We paid $220 a night and for that price I expect everything to work. Until this hotel gets an update I recommend staying elsewhere.
Beautiful lobby, spacious rooms, nice pool, very good restaurant
Staff was very nice. They have a bar and restaurant. That is a big plus. Our bathroom could use an update. All in all, great hotel.
The room was not very clean - needs a good scrubbing. The room did not cool off well after turning up the air. Light bulb burned out in entry. They need new pillows for beds.
Recently stayed over night and was met with a portable AC floor unit in the room duct taped to a wood board in the window. The tape was falling off letting bugs in. The tub was stained and I found an empty OJ bottle behind the nightstand. The topper was pulling the sheets back to find black curly pubic hair under the sheets! I found this and asked for a room change at 11 at night. Packed everything up and went to a king suite. Same thing pubic hair and dirt in the sheets! 3rd room at midnight had no hair but a stained fitted sheet at least not fresh! Sorry never coming back!
I stay in hotels all the time this was by far the worst they allow animals and thats exactly what the 1st floor smelled like I ended up switching rooms as well both rooms had humidifiers in them I was wondering why and that smell started hitting, The jacuzzi in tje room wasnt big enough for 2ppl so we went and found the other jacuzzi to see it was alot of sand in it and it wasnt hot we was so confused when I 1st arrived and I said My name they gave a little rude until I asked WHY ARE YOU LOOKING LIKE THAT They responded we never heard a name like that I felt that it was something else like me being African American and I have tuff skin and that actually bothered me I was going to stay the whole weekend this hotel cut it short for sure...Never Again
Clean room and a very nice hotel
This whole hotel needs to be updated as it is very outdated. We had an issue with our room and staff did change our room immediately. So staff and service are great and the area is convenient. The price is also good. But I probably wouldn’t say again due to the dated condition.
AC situation could’ve been better
Very clean, restaurant and tavern excellent dining, a bit dated but that’s okay.
Whenever we travel to WI Rapids, we always try and stay at The Mead. It’s a very nice place and reasonably priced.
Very dated and one part of the hotel smelled musty when getting off elevator. Expected more for the $ per night!
The property is pretty outdated but looked like they were in the process of rotavating. Our rooms air conditioner did not work so they had a portable one in the room, not ideal but worked. Breakfast was great in the morning. The pool was cold and the hot tub was just warm not hot.
Easy check in. Great continental breakfast with nice selection of food. Our room was neat and clean but needed serious updating. Air conditioning unit was gerryrigged with a hose going out window surrounded by duct tape. HVAC was extremely noisy. Parking convenient and area safe. Nice bar and restaurant onsite.
We stayed over Labour Day weekend so we could see my sister fire her 40th bday.
The rooms are a bit outdated but the service was wonderful!
Awful service in old poorly maintained hotel. Front desk useless was told maintenance for toilet not available till tomorrow although clogged The door to bathroom did not open fully as it hit the toilet. The room is poorly lit. We were given 4 hangars total for the room. When I asked to speak to someone in charge I was told there was no one but someone would get in touch. No one did. The dresser is old and doors are falling off the furniture. We had fire alarms 4 times one night due to water problem which kept us up most of the night. I would NEVeR stay at this hotel again
Fire alarms were going off for a few hours Friday night due to some water in the elevators. No big deal, things happen...but I was expecting a little bit of a discount on my room. There were no luggage carts or pool towels. When I asked for both, the front desk didn't do anything to get me either and acted like it was no big deal. The garbage on the 4th floor elevator was overflowing for 2 days and was not emptied by the time we left. One person at the front desk was sitting outside the hotel smoking and chatting with friends. The amenities are nice, but the entire hotel really needs an update.
This was the worst hotel I have stayed at. I was not informed that the air was a portable air conditioner. The water got shut off and I was not informed that there was no water. They fixed it but ended up breaking a sprinkle so the fire alarm was going off at 3 in the morning. The wi-fi is slow and only works half the time. I wouldn’t stay here again.
