Spacious room. The barn area was nice. The pool area was good.
Boarded up window with a portable air conditioner held in place by duct tape. The driveway and exterior need help.
The room was clean and the front desk employee was friendly and professional.
Portable air conditioner? Bad
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was wonderful.
Breakfast was nice with the standard waffle machine, scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. Juices and coffee were available. We liked the extended hours beginning at 6am until 10am. Decent bar with an extended happy hour from 1pm to 7pm. Drinks and bar snacks were priced OK during happy hour but the eatery was a bit pricy.
Room heating and A/C was inoperative. Unit was set at 61 degrees and could not be turned off. We were provided a portable heater that was little help. Unit was fixed on the next to last day of our stay. The room was dated and could have used refurbishment. Mold was growing in the tub and some of the bathroom fixtures were hanging off the wall. Hot water was available in good time. Shower should have an anti slip mat added (perhaps some one fell and tried to grab the bathroom wall fixture).
The staff was friendly and did their best to be accommodating.
The first room we were given had a non-working AC unit. Temperature was upper 80s. Our room was at 79 degrees. It was not something they could fix so they moved us to a new room. The new room had mold all over the ceiling right next to the window. We ultimately requested a refund and went somewhere else as we knew another traveling family at that hotel , at the same time, and their room had mold in the bathtub.
Breakfast was the only thing that was satisfactory at this location.
My confirmation number was 5813197391 for the Hotel Mead, Wisconsin Rapids, WI on July 9, 2026. I am requesting a full refund for this stay, as I had a terrible experience with this hotel. I had to switch rooms 3 times; the 1st was due to non-working air conditioning and a bathroom door that couldn’t open properly as it hit the toilet!; the 2nd was due to a location on the first floor near an exit door that was locked and I was told it was broken and couldn’t be opened!; 3rd was a room with a (temporary?) swamp cooler for an air conditioner, that was duct taped to a piece of cardboard which was duct taped to the window frame, and covered half of the window. The other half of the window was left alone. The inlet/outlet tubing for this air conditioner unit was put through a round cut opening in this cardboard. The actual glass window was left open slightly due to this set up! If there was a storm of any kind, the cardboard would have been soaked! I have pictures of the rooms and door that clearly show the issues I have explained. This was the first time using booking.com, and may be the last if I don’t receive a credit for this experience! I will also contact my credit card company to issue a cancel payment due to these issues! I appreciate your assistance!
Good Location. Staff was nice.
Rooms were not clean. Breakfast was cold. Did not get the room that we booked
The sauna
The bed and pillows were uncomfortable and one of the pillow cases had blood on it. The shower was dirty. There was stuff on the walls and the floor didn’t look vacuumed. The pool and hot tub weren’t very clean and the jets didn’t work in the hot tub. Lots of ceiling tiles were missing and some looked like they were ready to fall. They only had one ice machine and it was out of order.
The location was good.
First of all, our refrigerator did not work. Even at the lowest setting, it froze and ruined all of our food so we never ended up saving money by eating in. We did asked them to replace it, which they did, but this second one had the same problem. We did adjust the settings but with no luck. The sauna was disgusting with hair clumps all over the floor. We were here two nights and it was still there when we left Sunday. The hot tub jets don’t work and the tub itself is filthy and lined with dirt. Above the pool, a ton of ceiling tiles are missing and one is on an angle about to fall and it’s definitely going to be a problem if it hits someone in the pool. Our shower heat did not work. It was either freezing or too hot to stand under. The sheets on the beds were stained and the towels looked dirty so we had to go to the store to buy some. The WiFi at the hotel was awful and because the tv using streaming service, we were unable to even watch anything because it wouldn’t load. We paid almost 600 dollars for 2 nights. This was a phenomenally terrible value for not having almost any working amenities. We will never book this hotel again.
The free breakfast
The hot tub didn't work, the lights in the pool area were out, the room needed updating. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling, a broken mirror, and it wasn't vacuum very well.
We normally like staying here but this time we didn't get what we paid for. They didn't tell us before we got there the pool stuff happened. We paid for 1 night but wanted the hot tub. Didn't work nothing worked in the pool area. Yes we used the pool but the ceiling was missing pieces.
The pool area was decent.
I asked the front desk to make me a pitcher of hot coffee. They gave me a DIRTY one cup coffee maker with no coffee to go with.
I got (Hounded) every morning at Breakfast time about what room I was in. Didn't ask anyone else the 5 days I was there! Very rude staff. No extra towels! Room not cleaned for the 5 day's I was there!!! Treated me poorly, because I didn't have fancy clothes. I'm from that area! I was just visiting because I moved out of state. No one went above and beyond for little things like making a fresh pitcher of coffee. Also, my coffee maker didn't work in the room. My AC unit didn't work. But they did move me to a different room. Treat your guests better!!!
Breakfast was great, awesome location. The staff were wonderful and helpful.
I can tell they are still making updates but everything was clean and working.
Breakfast was good. It was nice having a restaurant and a bar on the premises.
I booked a family suite with 2 queen beds for myself, my adult son, and my teenage grandson. When we went to our room, it only had a king size bed for the 3 of us. Went back to the front desk, and showed them my confirmation for 2 queen beds. They thought they fixed the problem, and assigned us a different room that did have 2 queen beds but was not a family suite with the added living room area that I paid extra, and was on a floor where they were doing remodeling and there was construction materials in the hall. Went back to the front desk for the 3rd time and with the manager's help assigned us to a room that we originally paid for, but when we got to the room, somebody was already checked into it. How do you not know if someone is checked into a room?! So we went back to the 1st room they assigned, because the couch was a pull out sleeper, and they brought a cot to our room for my grandson. So we did sort it out, and they did give us a free drink ticket at the bar.
We had to plug in the TV, microwave, and fridge. The fridge smelled sour. 2 of the lamps were not plugged in. 3 out of the 4 lightbulbs in the bathroom were burnt out. We had to ask for sheets for the sleeper bed. These are not things guests should have to do.
Guest service, atmosphere
No A/C! It was not worth the 25% discount! It was so hot I had to keep the door open with a fan in it. So because the door was open I stayed up all night while my family slept.
That the hotel refunded mm money or so they claim. I have to wait 3-5 days yet.
The AIr Conditioner faile. My room was at 85-90 degrees and wickedly HOT.
Nothing!
The AC wasn't working in our room. The thermostat was reading about 87. They said they would move us to a new room with AC. I packed everything back up and waited over an hour and checked back to see when they would move us and they said there were no more rooms available. I was told the manager would come talk to me. I waited about 45 mins and then checked back at front desk and they gave me a fan and said they would issue a refund if that didn't help. The employee said the manager would refund me if I was not satisfied with stay and so we left. I have not received a refund and see nothing pending in my account and I am very unhappy with my stay at hotel mead. We have stayed there many times in the past with no problems. The hot tub was not hot at all. There were no sheets for the pull out bed. The room and hallways smelled like cigarettes and drugs. I was very very unhappy and would like my refund please!
I like the sauna room it actually got hot and will make you sweat. I like that the staff was really helpfully. The first room I was in was really hot and they upgraded me a different room and it was so much cooler and still enough room to have people. They even brought us a extra bed. The pool was really nice and big enough for everyone to swim in and it was fun to just relax and watch your kids play. I wished it was more cameras though to feel safer cause this world is getting more dangerous and you never know what can happen. Even breakfast tasted cool some pros and cons but mostly good and good service. I wished i had some cash on me at the time to leave a tip in the tip jar. But if I can make it back this weekend I will leave a $20 tip. And drinks and desserts was good at the Whitney restaurant and the staff in their was nice.
The hot tub didn't seem clean but I understand alot of people gets in and out of it. There wasn't alot of cameras to feel safer but I didn't feel unsafe but you never know what can happen.
