Great location, facility, staff, views and restaurant. Ideal for seclusion.
Highly, highly recommend! We stayed here for two nights in June 2025 and had the most beautiful stay. The room was exactly as described and although very historic, the room was very clean with comfortable bedding and pillows.
The property is positively beautiful, and everything you could dream of for a tuscan hillside stay. The staff were very accomodating and friendly and we had no issues communicating (we are Australian with very limited Italian).
We are both gluten free and pescatarian and enjoyed a beautiful dinner at the restaurant (including entree, gluten free pasta, lovely fish secondi, and dessert). The restaurant staff told us all of the options for gluten free and we felt very welcomed. For breakfast, they provided us with packaged gluten free bread and pastries and we could help ourselves to all the other individually served accompaniments (eggs, tomato, cheeses, fruit etc). My partner is celiac but not too sensitive to cross contamination so I cannot speak to this but I can highly recommend this accomodation for facilitating our gluten free needs!
We would absolutely stay here again and in the future we would plan to stay longer so that we can enjoy some whole days just lounging at the pool (instead of exploring nearby towns which is what we did).
My only suggestion: the accomodation asks that no external food or drink is consumed on the common property (gardens, pool etc) which I can understand for promoting eating at the restaurant but as someone with a limited diet and given how many wineries are in the region, it would have been nice to bring some of our own food or wine around the pool or garden. A suggested compromise could be for the accommodation to offer a “picnic service charge” charging a small service fee / corkage fee per person for consuming external food on the grounds, because we would have happily paid a little extra to drink a bottle of our own wine or picnic food in the common garden.
Very beautiful stay!
Great location to make a short drive to see San Gimignano, Sienna, and more. Good restaurant. Great breakfast w/ large selection. Beautiful and tranquil surroundings.
Set in the magnificent Tuscan countryside this hotel was ideal for us as a base to explore the medieval towns of southern Tuscany. The old Castello has been well adapted to its current use and the room we had was charming and comfortable. The restaurant built next to the main building was excellent and we had several enjoyable dinners there. Breakfast was plentiful with a buffet of fruit, cereals, cold cuts cheeses, eggs and pastries. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient and there was a sense of a genuine team spirit. Our only frustration was the inconsistent accessibility to the internet in our room, possibly because of the stone walls of the building. Overall a very pleasant and memorable stay.
The Good, the BAD, and the overall impression of this B & B.
We arrived very late in the evening after a long day of travel. There was noone at reception. A note was left for us to find our rooms. That was a feat in itself, as we were all on the second floor carring luggage upstairs. No elevators, and our "suites" were accessed from an outside staircase.
The "suite had a living room with dated sparse furnishings, and a bedroom/bathroom. I was expecting better furnishings. It was not welcoming, cold and drabby. The pillows are hard, and the bed was VERY uncomfortable. Bare neccessities were provided with a small fridge. Bathroom shower is "ok", no place to put your bottles or soap. Fan is loud and automaticall comes on when you turn the light on.
I didn't feel as though I was staying in a beautiful place. However, the surroundings and grounds are breathtaking.
Breakfast was subpar. Normal european buffet, cold cuts and pastries and fruit. Same every morning. Fruit was basic. Canned peaches, pineapple, and dates. Scrambled eggs, and what looked like cut up hotdogs was our choice for hot food every morning for our 4 day stay. If you are gluten free, they will provide you with pre-packaged bread/pastry if you ask.
The staff are unfriendly. The owners especially.
Fair warning. There are no restaurants nearby so if you wish to reserve lunch/dinner you must do it a day in advance at the hotel. You cannot bring food back and eat on their outside patio. We were told we couldn't when we tried to sit down with our lunch. We were told to walk into another area where we could eat. Not a big deal, this is really about how it was said to us.
There are no microwaves in rooms, and don't expect them to heat anything up for you. When I asked, I was told; "we don't reheat food brought from outside"....in broken english. Again, it was how it was said. Owners wife is abrupt, and not pleasant to talk to.
Again, the grounds are beautiful. Would I stay here again. NO.
Just excellent!
Posto veramente bello, total relax. Camera 14 confortevole.Ottimo ristorante.
Beautiful place in a beautiful peaceful location, the surrounding landscape is idyllic. The pool area is lovely and quiet and you can have drinks brought to you from the bar. The staff are lovely and are there when you need them but let you get on with it. The young girl (sorry didn’t take her name) is lovely and really helpful. The breakfast choices are great and the dinner menu is exceptional. What an amazing place we loved it. Watch out for the European Bee Eater birds and fire flies. We stayed in room 19 which has a little balcony and pool view so I would ask for that room if you can. You don’t need towels for the pool area they are included and there are plenty of toiletries in the bathroom including toothbrushes and toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner which is enough for a few days. You can walk to Monteriggioni from here and also up to the mountain nearby amongst other places. It’s a perfect base for visiting Siena and Florence. Go to Col De Val D’Elsa if can and also Volterra.
We enjoyed a junior suite facing the sea and had a beuatiful sunset. The hotel is adjacent to a very nice terrazza that wraps. along the water front. This was off season so not as much people traffic compared to the warmer minths. A rooftop bar and resteraunt was icing on the cake.Staff was bery nice.
We had such a wonderful experience staying here. Our friends had booked this hotel for their wedding venue and it was truly a dream destination! The place has the true essence of Tuscany, so if you want to experience Tuscany, you need to stay here. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and we can’t wait to revisit again! The hotel has a pool with a fantastic view and the food is so delicious! One of the best meals I’ve had in Italy! The beds were comfortable and the staff was so helpful. A big thank you to Lazarro and Barbara for going out of their way to make us feel so special and welcomed and to their entire staff for making our experience so enchanting. A memory we will remember for our lifetime! If you’re visiting Tuscany, you must stay here!
Me and my wife visited Castel Bigozzi to attend a friends wedding. The place is beautiful and heart warming. But what more amazing were the people from the time of check-in toll the checkout. Each and every person has such positive vibe and always helpful with any request. The rooms are very cozy and gives a very homely feeling. A special thank you to Lazzaro and Barbara for taking care of us with the full team. If we come back to Tuscany, we will definitely come back to Castel Bigozzi ❤️
We celebrated our wedding in this beautiful venue, and everything was perfect. The food is extremely good, the team is very professional and ready to help. Outstanding sunset, simply a dreamful place to visit.
Le cadre est magnifique ,avec vue sur la campagne toscane
Le restaurant est parfait ainsi que le petit déjeuner.la chambre est propre mais le mobilier est simple et assez vieillot
Clean little B and B type rustic farmhouse. Fantastic breakfast on the patio. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was affordable and excellent! I would definitely stay here again.
Eslerienza positiva nonostante un problena iniziale con la camera (una suite) risolto, elegantemente, dal titolare
Excellent under all aspects
The place overall was very good
Astonishing view, central Tuscany location, lots to do in the area and relaxing times at the hotel. What do you need more...... we loved it.
My wife and I had a lovely stay at Castel Bigozzi. Afternoons by the pool we’re a real dream and the staff was so nice and helpful. This place is very well located for day driving trips around Tuscany. My only comment was that our bed was quite firm taking a few nights to get used to.
Excellent and helpful staff. Great location with outstanding views.
