Large swimming pool with pool bar.
We stayed at the Grand Hotel Vanvitelli for two nights and, unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations for a hotel of this standard.
1. Restaurant pricing – The main restaurant was exceptionally expensive and appeared to prioritise revenue generation over guest value. A relatively modest dinner for two adults and two children cost €241, without even including a bottle of wine. The following evening, we dined at a local pizzeria, MilleVoglie, where we found the food to be superior and the overall cost roughly half the price.
2. Rooms and comfort – The guest rooms felt dated, with carpets that appeared worn and unhygienic. The shower cubicle was particularly disappointing; it resembled something more commonly found on a campsite than in a four-star hotel. Constructed from plastic and almost completely enclosed, with virtually no ventilation at the top, it quickly became uncomfortably hot and humid during use. The air conditioning throughout the room struggled to cool the space adequately. After spending time in daytime temperatures of around 37°C, it was difficult to achieve a comfortable environment for rest and recovery. The hallways were also rather gloomy and unwelcoming, with minimal lighting that gave the impression that illumination was being reduced to save costs.
3. Additional charges – There seemed to be extra charges for many amenities that guests might reasonably expect to be included, including pool towels. The cumulative effect was that the hotel felt focused on monetising services wherever possible.
4. Pool facilities – While using the poolside toilet facilities, there was a hot-air exhaust pipe protruding from a nearby window and directing warm air towards guests as they approached the entrance. This detracted from comfort and suggested a lack of attention to the guest experience.

La bellissima struttura, le camere e la gentilezza del personale
Questo è il secondo anno che prenoto questa struttura. È funzionale alla mie esigenze di viaggio e nel contempo mi permette di godere della bellezza del luogo. Gran Hotel. Non è solo il suo nome ma anche l’essenza vera della sua struttura. È bello, è molto grande. Diversi gli spazi per scrivere, leggere, pensare. Una promenade che sembra una piazza cittadina, dove piuttosto che scomode sedute di cemento, ci sono comodissime poltroncine e divanetti. Anche lo spazio esterno ti fa dimenticare di essere in mezzo ad un paese e ti fa credere di essere in meravigliosi giardini. Che dire poi della SPA, della palestra e del Ristorante. Chef sicuramente eccellente nel proporre piatti di mare e terra con quel pizzico di scienza culinaria che non tradisce palati fini e che delizia chi è abituato al cibo molto più convenzionale. Per il prossimo anno il mio proposito è quello di poter rimanere qualche giorno in più e godere anche della vicina Caserta.
