Taj Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer

Is echt een Taj Hotel met onberispelijke hospitality. Heel schoon alles ook. Iedereen is behulpzaam en vriendelijk zonder dat het beklemmend is. We kregen bovendien een upgrade naar prachtige connecting rooms. Het buffet was heel goed. Bij het ontbijt maakten ze speciaal voor ons healthy drinks. Compliments!

We had a very pleasant stay at The Taj in Jaisalmer. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The rooms were well appointed. The pool was excellent and the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing. The breakfast and dinner buffet were delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were very professional and friendly and alway ensured we were well looked after.

The warmth and hospitality at the property will mistaken anyone’s arrival akin to a holiday. There is absolutely no way, one can stay here and focus purely on work. Thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the conversations with the staff on-site who ensure every little aspect is well taken care of.

Absolutely enjoyed the two nights stay. Clean, comfortable, courteous staff. Nice ambience. Bhavya at the concierge went out of the way to make us feel welcome - overwhelming in a good way. Excellent breakfast.

We recently celebrated my daughter's birthday at Taj Gorbandh Palace, and it was an amazing experience! Starting from a warm welcome by Heer at entry. The food was fantastic, and the service was top-notch. A big thank you to Chef Bhanu for the delicious cuisine and to Pratap, Nonlie, and Nitish for their outstanding service. We're so glad we chose this place, and we'll definitely be back soon.

The stay at Taj Gorbandh was simply fabulous. The people, the hospitality and the charming property all added to the charm. Would like to mention Shreya and Jayanti for their warm welcome.

A beautiful stay at Taj Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer. Loved the unique structure of the hotel—different from the usual havelis and palaces. Jayanti was amazing, her guidance about the desert truly enhanced our experience. Evenings with the folk singer were delightful. The true Tajness shines through—never saying no and always taking care of guests with warmth. Absolutely loved it. Thank you once again!

I went there for the first and it was one of the best experience that I had in Jaiselmer and a big gratitude to Satyam and team the entire housekeeping staff and the chefs for doing such hardwork with all their which keeps the Taj Jaiselmer what it is!!

Few specific comments:
1. I realized I had forgotten my phone charger upon reaching the airport. I reached out to the hotel and spoke to Mr. Berusingh Bhati. He was kind enough to arrange this to be dropped off at the airport. I appreciate this gesture very much.
2. We used your driver services. Mr. Arvind was a wonderful host.
3. The staff at the restaurant were responsive and attentive. I can only recall the name of Mr. Shyam, who waited on our table. He did a great job.

Amazing hotel. We came for lunch. Food is very tasty and delicious. To hotel staff is very and take very good care of guest. Special thanks to Anish, Pawan and pratap.
We took the hotel tour which was very well organised by Gitesh, Moksh and Jayanti.

1. It was an excellent stay at Taj Gorbandh Palace.
2. The rooms are of decent size.
3. A truly marvellous staff who are always cheerful and ever ready to help.
4. Good location, just about 15 mins drive to Airport and to the Fort.

Jaisalmer is one of my favourite places to visit. A lot of new hotels from the staple large brands are now opening in this city. Having stayed in Marriott and Suryagarh earlier, we decided to stay in the Gorbandh Palace this time round after their association with Taj.
The property has been in existence for a while, having earlier been run by the HRH Group. We decided to stay here after the hotel was upgraded from IHCL Seleqtions category to the flagship Taj brand, and we had arrived with certain expectations.

We had booked two rooms with the private sit-out/balcony. The rooms were extremely small, with very little cupboard space, and a complete lack of drawers or other storage space. My parents changed their room from one with a balcony to one with a sit-out. The layouts of the rooms are not all the same. I had a partial view of the Fort from my room, which was nice. The washrooms in the rooms were rather well designed. Taj has definitely tried to renovate the rooms to try and bring them to their standards, but the room size is something that they haven’t been able to work with. Another problem my parents faced in their room was with the air conditioning. We stayed for three nights and the AC in their room malfunctioned every night, in spite of repeated complaints being made everyday.

Further, this Taj property does not have a Jiva or J. Spa. Instead, they have outsourced the spa operations to an external operator. The standards and quality of the spa infrastructure is glaring, and simply cannot be compared to that of J. Spas at other Taj properties. The Spa in-charge, Mr. Biswaroop was, however, extremely helpful and accommodating. Further, I took two therapies at the Spa, and my therapist Ms. Moni tried to ensure a comfortable experience for me on both occassions. The problem with the Spa was with the infrastructure and the hygiene to a certain extent. During my first therapy, used toiletries were left in the shower area, and for my second therapy, this “couples” therapy suite did not have an attached shower room. In the month of January, amidst the low temperatures, it is rather inconvenient if a room does not have a proper shower area.

Getting to the positives, the service of the staff was commendable. Starting from the guard at the entrance of the lobby to the wonderful housekeeping personnel, everyone tried to make our stay and experience memorable. Some of the staff members who left a mark with their hospitality were Mr. Aninda Roy at the front desk and Ms. Akheni at the gala dinner. Further, the hotel was kind enough to arrange for a doctor to administer a tetanus shot after my father nicked himself from the metal towel rack in the bathroom.
The hotel also hosted a very wonderful New Year evening with incredible performances from multiple artists.
The food during our stay was also nice.

Overall, I do not believe that this is the best property in the city. The rooms are small, and there are very few suites. The property and the building look good otherwise, and the upkeep seems alright. At the particular price point, there are better branded options. Accordingly, I do not recommend staying here, particularly if you expect Taj like standards. Maybe, the property was better off with the IHCL Seleqtions badging as it helps guests set their expectations accordingly.

Had a wonderful stay over the new Years - each and every member of the Team took care of us with so much warmth and what a positive attitude - truly Taj
