This is a pretty ropey hotel. I just wish I had looked at trip advisor first before booking.
The location is great I have to say, some nice places to eat literally just outside the hotel, including a great coffee house. Tube station a 2 or 3 min walk and the high St less than that. That's where the good points end unfortunately. There is no breakfast or food available in the hotel (I was told this on arrival) so a lot of the stuff you see on booking websites is false. The hotel is really run down, loads of repair work needed, everywhere you look there are bodged repairs. My room was like a furnace as there is no AC. Impossible to sleep in the current summer heat. Lots of homeless people sleeping rough near the hotel and plenty of shady people walking around. To be honest London is getting worse week by week, its a proper grotty city these days and reminds me a lot of the the big US city's where poverty is hidden just a street or two back from the main tourist areas and business districts.
The staff are friendly enough and the rooms were clean so I cant really blame them for the hotels main misgivings.
Massively overpriced for the a three star hotel. Even based on the location £80 a night would be a fair price to pay.
Our experience at Cheshire Hotel was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
The hotel bears very little resemblance to the photos used to advertise it. The rooms we received were of a much lower standard than expected, outdated, poorly maintained, and completely different from what was shown online. We chose this hotel based on the advertised images, and the reality was nowhere close.
The customer service made the situation even worse. The reception staff were dismissive, unhelpful, and unwilling to understand or address our concerns. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, they insisted that we pay extra for an "upgrade." The upgraded room was nothing special—a small room with a basic double bed—yet we were charged a total of **£470**, which was completely unreasonable for what was offered.
The payment process for the upgrade was also highly concerning. Instead of providing a secure payment link or accepting a bank transfer, we were asked to provide our credit card details over the phone. This felt unprofessional and did not inspire confidence.
Throughout our stay, the staff were rude, dismissive, and made us feel like our concerns did not matter. Instead of acknowledging that the rooms did not match the advertised standard, they simply refused to help.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had. Misleading advertising, poor-quality rooms, unreasonable additional charges, an insecure payment process, and extremely poor customer service made this stay unacceptable. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone and strongly advise future guests to look elsewhere.
The locations is great
It very Noisy and the hotel is stuffy. Drugs user all lotter outside the hotel
Proche du métro et du centre de Londres et rapport qualité prix intéressant.
Pas de climatisation dans les chambres. Pas de brosse dans les toilettes. Chambre exigu et très petite. Quartier mal fréquenté (drogués…)
The location, very central
Stayed during very warm weather and no air con but was provided with a fan
Freundliche Mitarbeiter. Das Zimmer wurde jeden Tag geputzt. Großes und sauberes Bad. Super Lage, nur wenige Gehminuten zum Britisch Museum.
Altmodische Ausstattung/Wände. Kleines Fenster ohne Ausblick.
Loved the Location & Nice and Clean
Was a warm weekend 25 - on top floor no fan in the room
Room very small
Shower head was broken so wouldn’t attach to the wall
La ubicación perfecta, la cama cómoda, habitación y baño limpios, personal atento y cercano.
El agua de la ducha se salía bastante y mojaba el suelo de baño, la habitación cumple su función pero era un poco pequeña
Location, was clean
No air con as was so hot, rooms were really tiny and double bed was tiny.
Not a lot. The location is good but the hotel is in desperate need of refurbisment.
