I liked the beverages in the lobby as well as the hot breakfast. I also liked how they quickly replenished the towels.
I did not like that Booking.com misled me to believe that Hampton Inn Downtown San Diego had a shuttle service and microwaves in the rooms.
Location
Vanessa @ reception was friendly & accommodating. So nice to check in to a friendly face. Room was clean & quiet. Comfy bed. Didn’t get to enjoy the free breakfast, I checked out early. But it’s a nice amenity.
I’ll be back!
Great location, one road back from the seafront and harbourside on the edge of Little Italy. Lovely modern rooms, spacious, comfy beds, nice modern bathrooms, clean. The pool area is great, the pool isnt big and is quite shallow but lovely temperature so perfect for a swim after a day exploring the city, sun all day, a few sunloungers and tables with shade, comfy seating too with poolside games (giant chess, connect 4 etc) which is open into the evening if you want somewhere to sit other than your room. Hot breakfast (pros and cons with breakfast) but pros theres a good selection of food, hot and cold. Staff are friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
Late checkin 4pm, we arrived a bit early at 3.40pm after a long drive and our rooms were not ready, so we sat in reception for 20 mins, then joined the checkin queue at 4pm which took ages, and our rooms still were not ready when we got to the front of the queue. Eventually they sorted it out but didnt get into our rooms until an hour after arriving. They charge $40 per night for parking which seems a lot, so when pricing up hotels add that on if you'll have a car, but you can come and go and so we did it for convenience and security. The breakfast on the first morning was a scramble, it doesnt run late enough for holiday makers so is crazy busy 8-9am (it runs 6am - 9am weekdays), long queues paper plates and plastic cutlery and hard to get a table. We learnt for the next couple of mornings and it was much quieter.
The room was clean, but noisy because of the train.
The staff could help with the suitcases,
Nada
Very nice modern rustic apartment. Location is prime near to all what you want to explore.
Nothing

There is a 7-11 a couple of blocks away but no pharmacies nearby. There are restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance though. Honestly I was worried about staying here because of all of the reviews, but the room was fine except for two things: there was mold in the fridge that smelled horrible and the bathroom light randomly turned on all througout the night. The lady at the front desk was very nice at check-in and the housekeepers were nice as well. You can hear the trolley but if you use ear plugs or a white noise app you'll be fine.
I'm currently staying in the hotel, definitely won't be staying again, I've still got another night here
No sleep at all and I've got ear plugs! The constant noise from the train crossing, the noisy air con unit and the stupid light sensors in the room all make up for a terrible night's sleep.
Location for getting about is the only positive thing about this hotel.
Vanessa at the front desk is an absolute angel! She was by herself and while I was in line multiple times with very awful guests, she maintained her composure and professionalism. She alone made our stay worthwhile. We'll be staying here again! Thank you Vanessa and all other staff working a very stressful comicon weekend well done!
Loved everything but the view.
The view from the room overlooked a derelect lot full of trash and possibly a homeless encampment.
