Het ontbijt was zeer goed. Niks op aan te merken.
De locatie van het hotel is zeer goed. De service aan het strand ok.

Cons:

Het fotowerk op de aanbieding is misleidend. De kamers zijn vrij klein, badkamer goed maar eenvoudig. De inkomhal en gangen in het hotel zijn ouderwets en geven een ander beeld op de aanbiedingsinformatie. Zwembad is verouderd. De ramen van de kamer waren zeer vuil wat het mooie zicht belemmerde.

The staff went above and beyond in every interaction — always smiling, attentive, and eager to help. Their hospitality wasn’t just professional, it was heartfelt. After long days exploring beautiful Rio, it was such a comfort to return to a place where we felt so genuinely cared for.

The service was seamless, the atmosphere was elegant yet inviting, and every detail reflected thoughtfulness and excellence. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines luxury with such authentic warmth, but JW Marriott Rio does it effortlessly.

Top-Tier Service Every Time I Visit
Pros:

This was my second visit to the JW Marriott Rio in the last six months, and once again, it was A1 service across the board. From the attentive and welcoming front desk staff to the consistently excellent housekeeping team, everything was handled with professionalism and care.

A special shout-out to the bartender team — and Yusef in particular — who truly elevated the experience. Great energy, great service, and attention to detail that makes you feel valued as a guest.

It’s rare to find a property that delivers the same high standard every time, but JW Marriott Rio absolutely does. I’m already looking forward to returning on my next trip.

Great breakfast staff. Zero customer service. Tired hotel.
Pros:

Apart from the staff in the breakfast area who are excellent the rest of the staff are useless. Emails go unanswered. Complaints get nowhere. The lifts are terrible and not fit for purpose. I’ve had a ceiling leak for 3 days and looking it up there it’s not the first time. You get two tiny bottles of water a day. The hotel is tired and lacks amenities. There isn’t even any water by any of the reception areas. It feels at best a 3 star hotel.

Copacabana
Pros:

This was a nice stay on Copacabana beach. The hotel is big but has many nice features. The breakfast staff and restaurant on the first floor are lovely. I used my nightly upgrade awards to upgrade to a suite which was lovely but it was internal so very dark and due to its outlook you really needed to keep the curtains closed all the time. My original booking was for a sea view room so I probably should have declined the upgrade, but the extra space was still nice. There is a lounge but we didn’t use it as our friends who were with us didn’t have access. Nice small pool on the roof and a decent gym with a beach view. The hotel has some loungers on Copacabana beach and they give you towels on the beach (which were a bit grubby I have to say). All in all a good stay if you want to be on Copacabana beach.

Decent Hotel with Unresponsive Management
Pros:

Currently staying at the JW Marriott in Copacabana Beach which is in a great location. My friend and I have paid a significant premium to stay at this five star hotel in the run up to the carnival. So far we have found the breakfast staff to be excellent and the food is pretty good.
However, we have experienced a number of issues which include :- the lift system which is seriously outdated and and slow. This is in need of upgrading/maintenance as our some of the rooms as one of our rooms has dripping water from the loft hatch which is still to be fixed. In addition to this it took two days to rectify an issue in one of our bedrooms where one of the lights would not switch off. Requests to reception/guest relations staff have largely been ignored or they have had to be chased repeatedly to resolve. In all of these instances management are nowhere to be seen.
This is disappointing as this really should be a great hotel and has the potential to be one.

Good mid range choice in Rio
Pros:

This hotel has a great location right on Copacabana Beach. Rooms are clean and functional, but a bit small and dated ('90s decor). As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, we had access to their club which was a nice -- if crowded -- spot to grab a drink or hors d'oeuvres in the evening. The pool area is quite nice. We had breakfast included and found the buffet to be quite varied and staff very helpful.
