High Bank Hotel

No rails on steep steps to entrance. As I am disabled mo good plus I felt it contravened H & S.
Reception area computers covered in layer of thick dust I actually wrote CLEAN ME in it. Disgusting
No working kettle in room and could not communicate with staff that I need a hot drink due to taking multiple tablets per day. No solution offered just shrug and sorry.
My bed next to radiators so every time I moved it clanged.
Imho the place should be closed down.I will never return.

It could have been cleaner

Tv did not work ,no aerial in room to watch TV Fite Alarm wrnt off 4 x during the night. No heating in the room

Arrived late after a big day of travelling. The room was set out reasonably well for the money. Little things were good like providing tea and coffee but no teaspoon, there was a fork in the kitchen area to stir tea with. Two very small towels no hand towels no floor mat. Just after getting into bed at midnight the fire alarm went off, extremely loud and very effective, People went into the corridors and started to make their way out. Alarm then stopped, everyone returned to their beds. Settling back in dozing back to sleep the alarm went off again. This happened 6 times during the night. When I spoke to staff in the morning, wanting some compensation I was told the manager wasn't there. I also was told there was an issue with the system. That was obvious. Hearimg thst and being dismissed about the issue I moved on from compensation to express my genuine concern about safety as the way the alarm was going off it makes people complacent and that's very concerning given the fact if there was actually a fire. I have written to the Hotel twice now and again just before this review and no response. I would be concerned staying at this hotel for multiple reasons and their care factor is zero.

Very basic place to stay.

Blood stain on inside of the curtain, fire alarm went off 5 times during the 1 night stay. No hairdryer in room. No bathroom bin, pillows very thin and appeared aged. Beds creaky. Mattress moved anytime I rolled over. Some hairs on the bed when I arrived.

Where do I even begin? The utter incompetence started before we even reached our door: the staff member assigned to show us to our room couldn’t locate it and had to call management for help. When we finally stepped inside, we were hit squarely in the face with a revolting, stomach-churning stench. Navigating the property wasn't hard, though—you just had to follow the trail of shredded, torn-up carpet.
Once we hacked our way through the sheer grime to inspect the room, the full nightmare unfolded:
Dirty, stained carpets that looked like they hadn't seen a vacuum in years.
Filthy, stained pillowcases covering completely mouldy pillows.
Stained bedsheets concealing a heavily urine-soaked mattress.
Dead insects rotting along the window sills.
Blood stains smeared across the walls, right next to hazardous gaping holes with exposed wiring.
A filthy, stained kettle and a disgusting, mould-infested fridge.
Smashed, broken-down cupboards.
Fecal-stained towels—an absolute health hazard.
For your information, we walked straight back out.
I could keep going, but if this biohazard of an establishment doesn't convince you to run the other way, nothing will. A complete disgrace. Save your health, money, and sanity—stay far, far away.

I didn't like the bedsheets, the pillow cases and duvet as they were rough on my skin and so didn't let me have a good sleep.

Secondly, one of the pillow cases had a stain which was very off putting.

Thirdly, there was no intercom system in the room for easy communication.

Fourthly, the environment of the property was very dirty. It appeared clean on the website but very dirty in reality which was very disappointing.

Lastly and very importantly, the hot/ cold water setting didn't work in the shower. It only produced hot water so that we had to wash ourselves by fetching water from the sink tap with a water bottle to wash ourselves in the shower room which was quite distressing.

Staff pure weird and no hospitality at all . Expect me to use towels for one week and no bed sheets clean for whole week, bed was kid size bed with screws half hanging out , bed was wobbling all over , springs were knackered and had poo stains all over bed duvet . Not fit for a dog . I paid for one week left one day early and couldn’t get money back !!

Nothing to dislike, but it is basic, good value for money.

the room door didn't lock from the inside, the carpet was very dirty. the chairs in the room had red stains on them and the other chairs had white stains on them... it was giving serious hostel vibes and you can hear absolutely everything from other rooms. when we went to check out the cleaners had just left bags on the stairs so we had to try and climb over them while holding all our bags.
