Venue was great and good location. Staff were friendly. Good room
No lift so having to walk up to the second floor
Historical building/ architecture, the room decor was to a high standard that reflected the area, and keeping with the historic theme of the hotel. Staff were amazing and when asked where to go if had 1 night in york they were really helpful in guiding us, not just promote there restaurant even though the food looked amazing. And the best part they upgraded us, which was an amazing surprise and brilliant gesture. Definitely recommend.
Cant really say tbh
Period property with a modern feel
Room was a little noisy as next to road
Helpful staff and large comfortable rooms. Great location, 10 minute walk to city centre.
The location is good, and if you are early you can get parking
The room we were in was tired and not 4*
Breakfast was excellent nice to be served
Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly and the maintenance manager was particularly helpful in resolving issues. Public areas were superb.
The first room we were allocated was disgraceful. Dirty, mouldy, broken wall panels, cracked walls, no working heating. Initially no tv but that was resolved. Overall not up to expectations. Then we were moved to another room much better but no working fridge. Again this was rectified.
Loved the location and the layout. Lots of character
Nothing tbh :)
Love the location and how friendly and helpful staff are. They really go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience.
Comfy beds.
Location - close to York city
Breakfast ok for husband
Windows & sills dirty
Plug in bathroom didn’t work so water drained away before you had time to wash, Toilet seat wonky.
Although asked about dietary requirements they couldn’t help. Too many sweet items both on breakfast and dinner menus (type 1 diabetic).
Rooms not cleaned every day unless requested, the same with tea, coffee, toilet rolls etc.
Question what did our daily rate pay for?
Reception was nice and restaurant and staff . Breakfast lovely and good location
We had a hole in the ceiling in the first room and it was covered by a piece of paper and masking tape which had fallen down and I could see the paper moving with the wind , took a video and told receptionist and got moved . Then second room dirty sanitary towel in the bin . So they said they had messaged booking . Com and are giving me 50 percent refund . Not sure if you’ve got the email ? It would have been nice also to have stayed in the hotel . We stayed opposite and the rooms very very rated compared to the actual hotel ones so quite misleading on booking ..not very happy also no parking when we arrived so had to park elsewhere at a cost of £20 pounds .
Well maintained gardens, beautiful place, the rooms are a bit old fashioned but perfectly clean, the bar and restaurant areas are quite modern, lovely staff too.
The car parking charges are to expensive, £15 for one night and it does not tell you this on the website
Excellent breakfast, plenty of choice and the best eggs royale that I have come across.
We should have gone for a larger room.
The room was on the top floor and was a good size with a comfortable bed.
Access to the carpark was a little tricky. Bathroom had an odour, which we mentioned to the front desk, we were told to run hot water to remove the odour.
