We stayed at this hotel during our family short trip to the Peak District. On arrival:to the hotel you have to negotiate a busy roundabout. It has a small car park that fills up fast so get there early! £4 for a 24 hour stay. ( I thought this was reasonable) you pay on a machine at the check in desk. The hotel was very modern and clean. Check in was easy and we were given a room on the second floor at the back of the hotel. Air conditioning was an amazing bonus during the hot weather. And the double double glazing kept the road noise to a minimum. At the time of our stay the lift was out of order so we had to use the stairs which wasn’t a problem for us but could be for some. Ten minutes walk into the town centre but be warned you have to cross some busy roads!
I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for the rating but a couple of negatives led me towards 3. The lift was unexpectedly out-of-order and I was on the top (third) floor, which is OK for me as an able-bodied people but the stairs became a bit of chore over a 6-night stay. As a pedestrian walking into town, I had to navigate a busy three-lane junction of the roundabout and had a couple of near misunderstandings with traffic. The hotel site is almost designed to keep pedestrians out, extending the walk from town unnecessarily unless you are happy to stretch a limb or two to climb over the fence and clamber down via a well-used shortcut; possibly not advisable after a night out though.
I arrived late and had not pre-booked a specific room, so had no complaints when the receptionist could only allocate me a room facing the roundabout. On the first night, the traffic noise bothered me a little, but I barely noticed it after that. The room had triple glazing that could still be opened to get a bit of fresh air as needed. The aircon worked well in the face of the oppressive heatwave, and I slept well each night and was able to work from the hotel room during the day via the paid-for Wi-Fi. The room decor and furniture were standard Travelodge and, as ever, lacked enough storage or desk space. A change of sheets would have been nice once over the stay but the best one can get is a refill of clean towels and the bins emptied. The bathroom was larger than expected whilst the shower power was rather weak.
The staff were overall friendly and helpful, as much as any Travelodge employee has the right to be. I had breakfast on the final morning and it was pretty good in content and price, certainly better than my memories from a few years back of other Travelodges, with edible sausages being a welcome change. Although the bar shut at 11PM each night, it was very reasonably priced for a hotel. There is a Wetherspoons not far on the walk into town, which also provides good value and was open until 1AM each night.
Super helpful and friendly staff along with a clean hotel, bedroom and bathroom. Would stay again 100%
Me and my daughter stayed here the weekend and wow. Every single member of staff were so friendly and helpful. Room
Was spotless and modern. Check out at 12 is a huge plus. Breakfast eas delicious and plentiful. I usually avoid travel lodges but this one was great.
Hotel location ideal for what I need. Room usual standard so no complaints. However visit was let down by rude receptionist who checked me out on Saturday morning
The lift was out of order, allocated room on 3rd floor so unable to access due to a disability, was then allocated a substandard room overcrowded with beds and none of the extra amenities I paid extra for the standard plus room. I was charged the same for the substandard room.
Friendly staff. Great stay.comfy bed. All clean. Great shower and wash products..Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of quality products
The night auditor (I believe her name was Angie) was lovely and so helpful. The manageress (Leslie) was also very friendly and happy to help. Also spoke to one of the evening staff called Jeremy, very good at his job. Great team and lovely hotel. Looks more akin to a 3.5 star hotel, then 2
Pleasant staff, tidy clean hotel, comfy beds, good price and not too far for an able bodied person to walk into town for a bit of shopping or a few beers. Only £4 to park on site for 24hrs. Will stay there next time I am in the area.
We had a good stay. Staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. Not a fan of dogs in the restaurant , I thought this isnt allowed however at breakfast there was a dog which didnt appear to be an assistance dog. The room did have a strange smell, the air con was lovely but noisy and the toilet didnt flush well and would get stuck.but otherwise was a good enough stay. People were quite noisy at night
Lovely hotel, we stayed here with our baby and it was a lovely stay, would stay here again.
I have stayed in a lot of Travelodges over the past few years and my considered opinion is that this is the best one yet.
It used to be an Ibis and was a little rundown, but it has been revamped and it is impossible to fault the hotel. The location, on a busy roundabout, isn't anything they could do something about, but the hotel itself is excellent.
The exterior is very clean, with plenty of parking. It is less than 10 minutes brisk walk to the cricket ground and I was there for the festival. They're welcome from staff was friendly and when I told them I was there for the four nights I was given extra coffee, milk and sweeteners.
There is a lovely bar and restaurant so you can get a cooked breakfast or an evening meal. I didn't use these, but it was good to see the offer was there there and it seemed to be well used.
My room was excellent. The air conditioning was outstanding - very handy in the heatwave - and the bathroom was clean, the shower had instant hot water and there was everything you needed.
My bed was comfortable and clean. There were working usb sockets and plugs at each side of the bed and there was a comfortable chair in the room, as well as a desk and chair.
It was lovely and quiet. I had paid a little extra to specify my room and my advice would be to take one on the back of the hotel, so you are away from the roundabout.
I would highly recommend this lovely hotel if you are visiting Chesterfield and the Peak District
Stayed a night during a house move. Good value for the price and the onside eaterie offered some nice healthy choices to eat with good "meal deal" price. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well done Barbara - first week in the job but friendly and welcoming. Handy location for Chesterfield city centre. If you need a convenient place to stay that doesnt break the bank, it's a solid choice.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had a fantastic stay at Travelodge Chesterfield Town Centre. The hotel is exceptionally well managed, and the high standards are evident throughout every aspect of the guest experience.
A special mention must go to Lesley, the Hotel Manager, who is a true credit to the company. Her professionalism, leadership, and dedication to customer service are clearly reflected in the excellent atmosphere and smooth operation of the hotel. She goes above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and valued.
The entire team are outstanding at what they do—friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were consistently accommodating throughout my stay.
The hotel was comfortable, welcoming, and well maintained. I would highly recommend Travelodge Chesterfield Town Centre to anyone visiting the area and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Generally a good stay. Hotel in great location, clean & good night's sleep.
Stay was ruined by the following situation.
Housekeeper knocked on our door at 11.45am obviously to check if we had left. When I shouted hello she walked off. When we left (Before 12) I told the housekeeper she shouldn't knock on doors before 12 & she said she was knocking to see if we needed any fresh towels. Not only is this not something Travelodge does, but why didn't she ask when I answered the door knock? I told reception on leaving, who said they would look into it.
Angie the front desk clerk was really helpful and friendly
Rooms nice and clean
Relatively quite if you’re at the back of the building, however if you’re at the front you can hear the main road when it begins to get busy
Costs are often low
Bed are relatively comfy
Basically a budget premier Inn
Would recommend
Reason for my rating 5 - is when I arrived I had excellent service/support from Dominik at the front desk nothing was a problem for him extremely helpful and also very pleasant with a positive attitude and professional at the same time, would highly recommend this hotel based on the first contact from Dominik.
Excellent well done Dominik.
Great value no problems apart from parking was a bit hit and miss
We had a great experience at this hotel. Dominic was very friendly and really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The 2 members of staff that were working were extremely busy and there was a lot going on so they were unable to serve food which was a bit inconvenient. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff that we came into contact with and they were all really friendly. There was also a blonde lady that was working that was really friendly.
Had a really lovely stay at Travelodge Chesterfield. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location, but what really made the visit stand out was the amazing staff. Claire and Matt were both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was okay and made us feel genuinely valued as guests.
