The hotel is lovely and close to shopping and food. On the whole it would have been a great stay except for the security, which was suspect. I was there with adult children in 3 rooms and the third night we were awoken at 330am but questionably dressed woman (who might have been drinking) with loud knocks on all our doors. The next morning I asked the front desk if they had security cameras and they said yes, and they would report the incident to security. A little while later an assistant manager came to tell me that the woman were not guests of the hotel but guest of a guest and they had forgotten the room number. I asked her how they got to the second floor without the actual guest to which she said she did not know. I asked her how she could possibly not have investigated further to find out how they got to the second floor without a guest. She said she would find out more.
Fifteen or so minutes later she came back and said she was mistaken, they were actually guests of the hotel staying in a room close to mine. I asked her how the story changed and what facts from security made her change her assessment and she could not explain the change in facts. I told her I had no interest in continuing a discussion if she was going to just try to placate me with a story and not have the backup facts to backup the story.
Later on about 30 minutes later the manager an head of security came to see me and told me security was. It breached BUT they were indeed NOT guests of the hotel but guests of a guest. So back to the original story.
I have no clue what the true story is but I can tell you the morning prior when I came down super early (jet lag) the one staff member at the front desk was sleeping.
I would not recommend the hotel to a friend with what I feel was lack security with multiple "stories" when I felt they were just trying to get ahead of the issue so they would not look bad
Sad since the city an the physical structure of the hotel were lovely. I definitely recommend Cape Town to anyone just pick a hotel that takes security more seriously
Bay view room overlooked a ship repair yard that started work at 7-30 am also next to the main electrical box for that floor that hummed noisily 24 hrs a day . As soon as you arrive they take 10,000 rand of your credit card I have been waiting 5 days for its return. 3 emails have done no good . My last visit !
I found across all of South Africa, the friendliness is infectious, and our hotel in Cape Town set the standard.
I have to mention the staff first and foremost. Everyone that was a part of our stay, from the doormen to the porters to the cleaning staff to the wait staff, was unbelievably friendly. In nice places, it can feel forced but not once did it here. Good days, often by name, and follow up inquiries on our adventures around the city.
The room was quite spacious and had everything you would need. The bed was so comfortable we had a great night's sleep each night.
The food at breakfast and in the restaurants (and bar) were above the standards of many fine hotels.
On our trip there was a miscommunication somewhere. When we alerted the hotel to the issue, they went out of their way to make sure to meet expectations. Seldom does everything go right and I know this. What matters is correcting the situation. The team did this with flair. This property is a credit to their portfolio.
This recently refurbished property is absolutely lovely. The rooms have beautiful views of tablet mountain or the marina. Great decks to enjoy a sundowner in privacy or head to the patio of the iconic whiskey bar with a diverse selection. Excellent service, delicious food and a stellar location - what more could one ask for!
it’s an amazing hotel in a perfect location . Short walk to shopping , eateries and some very nice restaurants. The attention given to you in the hotel is tops . The people are polite and warm .
We stayed at the Cape Grace for 4 nights at the beginning of our African Trip. Great start-a glass of wine while checking in. Tour of facilities before showing us our room which was spacious and well laid out. Comfortable bed and no noise from neighbors. Complimentary breakfast each morning. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner on our first night. Located in the Victoria and Albert Waterfront area which apparently is the most secure location in Capetown. Lots of restaurants and shopping near by.
We were met with a warm greeting by the hotel staff in a comfy yet elegant hotel lobby. Greeted with a lovely glass of sparkling wine while we completed the registration paperwork and then had a lovely personalized tour of hotels amenities, during which we discovered a discreet bespoke whiskey bar that we look forward to exploring more later. Oh, and with all rooms overlooking the water you cannot get a bad view! Slept like a baby lamb!
A lovely hotel, helpful staff, amazing breakfast buffet. You have wonderful views of Table Mountain and the Marina from the dining room and library and from many of the rooms.
Downsides - the pool is more like a large plunge pool, you cannot swim up and down, and it’s quite a small area so I imagine is very cramped in summer - September here is spring - so locals felt it too cold to go in. In the summer the public can come to sit and drink /eat there as well, apparently.
Also there is hardly any outside space , the exception is the bascule bar which has some outsides seating but this is overlooking a busy path so not quiet . But atmospheric.
This is a great place to stay to visit the lively thriving V and A waterfront area with shops bars and restaurants , as it’s only a 5 minute walk away and very safe to explore.
The hotel is really helpful , they can arrange free shuttles into town and have good local knowledge to share. They will take you as far as Camps Bay. As Brits we found it easy and cheap to get Ubers anywhere, compared to UK prices.
Every evening they offer free port you can have in the library or terrace area (it’s behind glass) overlooking table mountain and Marina.
We had a beautiful spacious room although it was on the other side of the hotel overlooking boats in dock being overhauled so some clanking at times but we didn’t mind. Overall a wonderful stay and a good base to explore Cape Town.
I preferred the "old" Cape Grace with a warmer Cape Town look and interior.
Staff is friendly and personal.
Comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast. Great location.
This is a 5 star hotel at its finest. The building is beautiful and the architecture and decor is welcoming. The staff is professional, helpful and friendly. They anticipate any need you may have. The food is very good and the availability of different settings to enjoy it is overwhelming. Breakfast? The restaurant has a great set up for a buffet. Casual quiet lunch in the library? Drinks in the library bar. High tea? Dinner back in the restaurant. The guest rooms are very nice and spacious. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is the same with the added luxury of towel warmers. We spent 5 nights there and we really hated to leave. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The moment I arrived at Cape Grace, the staff greeted me with a warm smile and genuine care. Lucky and the entire staff at the hotel made my sister and me feel as if we were at home with family. Never before had I stayed at a hotel where I felt as comfortable in a familial environment—the room accommodations, the restaurant, and the drivers were all amazing! I can't say enough about our phenomenal experience. We are already making plans to return next September. I love, love this hotel.
We were fortunate to land at the Cape Grace after arrangements at another hotel fell through. We had a two-bedroom suite and it had tons of space and was elegantly appointed. The entire staff was amazing, ready to cater to any request or just showing friendliness and thoughtfulness. The location is also great - close to the action but far enough away that we didn’t hear all the noise. Highly recommend staying here.
This is the best hotel that I have ever stayed in. Excellent staff. Everyone knew our names. They were all on top of it 24/7
What an amazing time we had with a 10/10 service. Really made the stay worthwhile and were treated like V.I.P. Food was fresh and so tasty. The atmosphere and the tranquil ambiance really made it amazing.
Will def be back to have that same luxury experience.
This hotel was great for a couple of days in Cape Town! The room was very spacious and clean. The hotel location is also ideal with it being walking distance to the V&A Waterfront. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast at the restaurant was also very good and was awesome that was open so early before tours. Would definitely stay here again!
A beautiful, classic and welcoming hotel on the V & A Waterfront. With a recent refurbishment, the Cape Grace is a stunning luxury hotel. Our room was on the third floor overlooking the harbor and was beautifully furnished. While classic in design it also incorporates more contemporary features. Breakfasts were extensive including a buffet as well as cooked to order. From the staff to the location to the amenities, you can’t go wrong staying at this iconic Cape Town hotel.
Great location, beautifully appointed, classy and luxurious finishings, and great service from reception to concierge to restaurant team.
The rooms are spacious. There’s a separate dressing room and a big full bathroom. Le Labo bath products and room scent. We had a harbour view and it was stunning. Easy 5m walk to the V&A. Beautiful breakfast spread and views.
The newly renovated Cape Grace Fairmont is a true gem—luxurious, elegant, and perfectly located by the marina near top restaurants and the V&A Waterfront. Rooms are spacious with stunning views, and the staff are genuinely warm and attentive. A flawless Cape Town stay.
Wonderfully appointed hotel within a stones throw of the V&A and ideal for a short or longer break in the city. On arrival we were greeted with big miles and welcome, lovely reception team and smooth check-in process.
The room was large with French doors and a lovely view of Table Mountain and a small harbour. The bed was very comfortable and the room offered a table and two comfy chairs by the doors to sit and enjoy a breeze and the view. It had a large wardrobe and dressing room area leading to a large bathroom with bath and shower together with a separate toilet and double sink. Lovely soap products in the room added to the luxury feel. Air conditioning was excellent without being too cold or noisy. Overall a lovely room with nice calming decor and colour scheme.
The hotel had a comfortable bar/lounge area off the reception which was very pleasant for tea/coffee and drinks throughout the day and evening.
Restaurant offered a superb breakfast along with great lunch and dinner menus. Staff were welcoming and efficient and we enjoyed all our meals here.
Outside pool is small and also an outside bar and dining area, pleasant. They also have a spa with a great choice of treatments and we enjoys a 2.5hr pamper session which was superb and good value.
We would highly recommend this hotel for its friendliness of staff, luxury rooms and public areas and overall ambiance and atmosphere - well done Cape Grace team.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The location is great for exploring the V&A wharf area. Some rooms and restaurant have views of table mountain. The room was spacious. Loved the closet hallway. Their luggage rack was a built in shelf that would accommodate butterfly luggage. You could throw a party in the large bathroom.
