We stayed in the suite with the pull out couch and this worked nicely for our family. Nice to sit in the living area at night instead of sitting on a bed. Morning breakfast was OK - a bit pricey at $17 ea. If you have young children, they will enjoy the arcade and pool table. Location is convenient to Okemo. We ate at Killarney's Irish Pub and DJ's Restaurant in town on 103 and food was good. Singleton's General Store around the corner at 356 Main St. had delicious sandwiches you can order at the deli.
So this location is great i will give it that. As far as the rooms at the castle, the furniture is so out of date it boarders dirty. The couch in the living area is so sunk in I had to help my husband get out of it (and he is not a big man). The two days we were there we were woken up every morning with people above us moving furniture and it sounded like a child running back and forth consistantly. I think the staff lives upstairs and that is who was so loud every morning. The walls are like paper you can hear everything. Oh and every now and then you will hear the train go by. Don't stay here if you want an good night/morning sleep. The castle, i understand you can't do cosmetic updates due to the structure of the building but you can get new furniture that isn't brown from wear and tear. Outdated and not in a good way
Convenient that there is a restaurant is in the Castle, we also loved the outdoor hot tub and pool.
Outdoor hot tub and heated saltwater pool (in winter!) were for sure the high light. So lovely and room had robes to wear to get there. Room was fine and well kept. There was no maid service and the breakfast was terrible, but otherwise all was good.
Nice Sunday night stay, little bummed the restaurant wasn't open but there were other places around that were. Had a single king sized bed in a clean room with a fridge, coffee maker and couch. Lots of tv channels and the bed was comfortable making it a nice, relaxing getaway. Didn't check out the pool but it was there in case we wanted it.
Beautiful property and an excellent value for its quality. It would be good if there were a second restaurant on the grounds, however.
No food available on Saturday night.
Absolutely loved it. We stayed in a condo and it was clean and very spacious. The pool and spa were lovely and the staff there were very helpful.
Amazing place, beautiful grounds!! Staff was exceptionally friendly & accommodating!!! We stayed in the point, pool& hot tub was so refreshing & very clean. Food at the castle was the best & the staff was very informative & helpful with out questions of the castle & the area! We will definitely be back!!! We stayed in a suite & it was more than comfortable!!!!
It was our first time in the castle itself, usually we stay in the lower hotel but the rates were comparable to the least expensive so I booked one night in the “castle”. The only complaint we really had was the heater in the room was controlled from a thermostat that was down the hall and was for the entire building so our room was either cold or way too hot even with the windows open in late April. That being said it was only when you were getting in or out of the shower and getting ready for bed. I understand it’s a very old building that needs to be reserved, however a mother form of heat source would have been better. I will stay here again though we will be prepared the next time with extra clothing. My wife was cold, you know women are often cold so I would have liked more heat control for her sake, call me over protective lol. The shower water would change from hot to warm then cold then hot flashes then warm then cold and it stayed cold for a bit so we got out for 15 min then it was hot again long enough to shower. Al in all it was a 4 out of 5 type of stay. The hot tub was great over at the spa:!!
STAFF
I want to start by pointing out that the staff at the hotel were above and beyond PHENOMENAL, and I mean ALL THE STAFF.
I spent the weekend up there and got stuck with some car problems in a blizzard and dealt with everybody on the staff there. They were some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in the hospitality industry.
When I say all the staff, I mean all the staff!
DAY 1. The plow guy helped me get my car out of a spot when my snow chain broke and I couldn’t move.
DAY 2 The maintenance guy got me down to the front desk when my car broke down, then the manager got me a new room right away and gave me a ride to where I needed to go.
DAY 3 The other manager called her brother-in-law to come tow and fix my car when the other shops in town were full on a Monday morning. The other front desk staff were great at letting me stay in my room until the car was finished. The cleaning crew who are the hardest working people in the industry were checking to see if my car was ok and if I needed anything.
ROOM,
I stayed in a two-bedroom condo that had a fireplace, full kitchen, huge living room and everything was spotless. The place was beautiful and fit 8 people. The only thing I would say is that if there is a big blizzard coming make sure you’re prepared with chains or snow tires if you are at the top of the hill because it could be a little challenging to get there with a ton of snow.
Very spacious condo. Lots of space for ski equipment and coats etc.Nicely decorated. Comfortable beds. Very nice out door pool area and spa.
Highly recommend the castle. Great rooms and staff.
The heated pool and hot tub are great. The kids were nervous about swimming outside in the cold winter until they got in the pool. Then they didn't want to leave.
Very nice hotel for the area. Lots of skiers stay here as the price is very reasonable for the area. Nice pool and hot tub. A spa is up the hill, so some of the pics you see online are really the spa which is not connected to the hotel. I used the spa on a past trip. Very nice to do as the entire town dies down about 9pm.
The room was large, clean, and quiet. There was a problem with the heating unit, which was quickly fixed. It is old fashioned motel like window unit that is fairly noisy.
There is a hot tub and pool, which is nice after a day of skiing.
Disappointedly is that there is no breakfest available in hotel or even nearby during the week, only on weekends. This was not the case when I was there several years ago. This is a big minus for a hotel several miles to open restaurants in Ludlow.
Price is on expensive side considering amenities, same as paid for a downtown Hotel in Boston
Wonderful piece of history and architecture. We had skied all day. It was so nice to come back to this warm and welcoming property. We were given a tour and history of the house which was so interesting.
We stayed on the 3rd floor which was the original servant quarters, very large furnished room, jacuzzi tub, comfortable bed. Very quiet. Would return.
Very good. Highly recommended.
Amazing 1904 building with helpful staff, a wonderful restaurant and a relaxing salt water outdoor swimming pool.
Rooms could use a little investment to keep it antique but fresh and appealing.
