Athough the hotel was lovely and the rooms were better than expected, I was disappointed to say the least about the staff nembers. I was serced by a young man whom I believe was called Tom who was a nice enough lad, however his personal hygene was a lot to be desired. He appeared very unkempt l, with a creased uniform, greasy hair and did smell a little. As the face of a high end hotel and charging premium prices I would expect the staff to look prustine. Or at least wear clean uniform and hace a hair cut. Maybe a lesson in appearence and personal hygene may be advisable.
We had a lovely one night stay at the hotel, we upgraded our room for £20 and it was gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Madison our waitress played along with a game we were playing which was to guess our order by lip reading, very childish I know but we all had a real laugh. She was professional and gave excellent service.
All the staff were great and not one of them was grumpy or unfriendly The food was also excellent.
We stayed here last night, and had a mixed experience. I’ll get the negatives out of the way first: Arriving a little early, our Deluxe Courtyard room wasn’t quite ready, so were offered an upgrade to a recently refurbished room, for an extra £20 to an immediately available room. So we took it, and regretted it. While the new room was a Superior, it was in name only. Large and spacious, it certainly didn’t appear in keeping with what we’d envisaged, and lacked any real cosy or luxurious vibe. An outside view of a couple of big skips, also didn’t help. One of our towels was torn, the shower gel and shampoo dispensers were broken, we had nowhere enough toilet paper and had to go asking for more. Then we found our iron was unusable because it had black marks on it, and there were cobwebs as if the room were done up for Halloween.
The good, well the good was excellent. The whole place looked stunning. Exaggerated further by the festive decor. It really is a stunning place. The staff, from Reception to bar staff, and to maids, were wonderful, and truly welcoming and so, so pleasant and helpful. The Atrium bar was lovely, and the food was great. The restaurant service and food was wonderful, and it was so cosy and similarly the bar lounge.
Overall, it’s a 3-4 out of 5 for me. Promised so much but when your room isn’t up to the hype, and especially as it was a booking for my wife’s birthday, it was ultimately a let-down.
Just stayed under name Osman in one of the courtyard double rooms and, while the grounds and main building are nice, the stay itself was mixed and ultimately felt closer to a 3-star experience.
The room itself was a decent size but really let the hotel down. On arrival, it hadn’t been cleaned properly and prepped - eg dusty wardrobes, bed sheet not properly put on, and marks on the mirror. Toilet paper not replaced either (just a triangle made on a half empty one left from previous guest). We were also surprised to find there were no towels or even a hairdryer in the room when we checked in - had to ask for these (clearly they forgot).
Housekeeping throughout the stay was poor. The room never really felt “refreshed” after each visit — things were left lying around and it just didn’t seem like much care was taken. The room also had an unpleasant, stale smell and lacked any real sense of cleanliness or airflow.
Most disappointing (and frankly unprofessional) was that housekeeping removed a bottle of champagne we’d bought ourselves, with half of the contents still remaining. To their credit, the hotel did apologise and replaced it when we raised it - but it really shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
On the positive side, the Library Bar is lovely and the drinks were nice and staff friendly. Reception staff also were good.
Holly our server was brilliant. Friendly and professional. The Sunday lunch menu food was excellent. The environment in the restaurant is beautiful. A luxury lunch venue.
I have stayed at this hotel many times and it has certainly gone down hill.
This time I stayed in the mansion house room and it was basic and needed updating . The pillows on bed were awful and the noise outside from I can only assume workers banging around in the early hours was not welcomed. Couldn’t get a table in the restaurant until 9pm so had no choice but to eat in the bar where the food is very average .
I will say the staff in bar were very good and the drinks also very good . Parking is easy . I wouldn’t rush to sta here again
I stayed at Tortworth Court and had a wonderful time. I know Tortworth Court well, having stopped many times for a drink etc. on journeys up the M5, but my first visit to stay was a couple of months ago and I had a few problems with the room. However I returned in December and had the most fabulous stay.
I was very kindly offered a return night and upgraded to a Junior Suite by Alex, the General Manager who is very pleasant, helpful, and understanding. I had a brilliant time. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and looked very festive, and the decorations were all very in keeping with the environment.
It was lovely and cold outside, but my room was also lovely and cold inside! I slept like a log on a very comfortable and large bed, and I upgraded my breakfast to an in-room breakfast. I couldn't manage to eat it all. The portion was generous, the breakfast was fresh and hot, and it was absolutely delicious. Alex and team also left me a box of chocolates which was such a kind gesture.
As I do every time I go to Tortworth, I ended up in the Atrium Bar having a drink in the evening. I do enjoy it in there, it's chilled but also feels like a treat too. Very tastefully done.
The location is fantastic, hence my previous visits. Not far off the M5 it's very easy to find, and surrounded by woodland (aka. The Tortworth Arboretum). It's easy for Cheltenham, Tetbury and Westonbirt, Forest of Dean, a stop trip on the way up the M5 or across the M4, or just as a getaway in its own right.
I will absolutely be back - very soon I hope - and sincerely thank the staff for making my stay so comfortable.
We had an amazing night away at Tortworth Court. Enjoyed the spectacular firework display at the beautiful hotel. A big thank you to Charlotte and all the staff for being so friendly. Highly recommend xxx
We had an absolutely unforgettable family celebration at the annual Christmas fireworks. Charlotte took exceptional care of our entire family—now a group of 16—and ensured every detail was handled seamlessly. Her commitment to putting customer experience first was evident throughout our stay. Charlotte is truly an outstanding asset to the team, and we cannot wait to return and celebrate with you again.
Such an amazing Christmas experience for our whole family. We were made to feel special from the moment we arrived by Charlotte, who welcomed us with festive cheer and ensured a smooth and professional check in experience. She invited the children to see Santa and took photos of us together. Our room was beautifully appointed and Charlotte made sure to check we were happy with everything once we were settled. We were part of a larger family party, so Charlotte liaised with the restaurant team to organise a beautiful area for a more intimate dining experience, suitable for the children, which felt so personal and special. The fireworks were spectacular and the views from our room meant our children could enjoy the experience in an environment that suited them perfectly. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic with plenty of choice and even though it was busy, the restaurant team did everything they could to sit our group together. The food was hot and fresh and being replaced frequently. The hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and festive moments throughout. The snow machine outside the front was a very exciting touch. Overall our experience was magical and we are grateful to the team at Tortworth Court for everything they did to make this happen.
We recently held our company Christmas party, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive easily the best one we’ve had in years. The food was a real highlight. When attending a large hotel event, expectations are often modest, but in this case there was nothing to fault. Service ran smoothly, dishes were delivered promptly, and dietary requirements and allergens were handled with great care.
Nina was our main point of contact for organising the event, while Louise managed the room bookings. Both were a pleasure to work with, responding quickly to my many questions and making the whole process straightforward and stress-free.
Fantastic stay. Very nice Country Estate, can highly recommend. Great facilities, good choice of bars and we enjoyed our meals in the restaurant and a fair few cocktails. Holly especially was very attentive but all the staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a deluxe junior suite which was a good size and very comfortable. Overall a very agreeable slice of country manor life on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Holly was attentive, friendly and so accommodating she made our night. We stayed over with family and she made sure we were looked after, she is an absolute diamond! Thank you Holly x
We had an amazing experience going back to stay on the 1st anniversary of our wedding day. The staff were extremely welcoming and remembered us from a year ago and gave us a really personalised stay - remembering our wedding cocktails and suprising us with them and a celebratory bottle of prosecco back in our room. We felt extremely grateful to them for not only helping us have a beautiful wedding but making us feel special a year later and helping us celebrate our anniversary. Special mention to Elvis on the wedding team who is amazing!
We had a great experience at Tortworth Court overall. The food and drinks are always consistently good, and the setting is lovely.
A special mention to Holly, who was an exceptional waitress — friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience feel welcoming.
The only downside was a slightly awkward interaction at the bar. While ordering a cocktail, I absent-mindedly bent one of the triangular menu cards (not intentionally, and I was a little tipsy). The barman told me off and said they didn’t have any spares. I do accept that I shouldn’t have done it, but as a paying guest it felt uncomfortable, especially as minor wear and tear on cardboard menus is surely something that’s expected and easily replaced.
That aside, it was still a very enjoyable visit and I’d happily return.
Our waitress Holly was amazing, so friendly, recommended our red wine to go with our steak.
Meal was amazing.
Perfect way to celebrate our wedding anniversary x
I booked a festive afternoon tea to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The hotel and its grounds were beautiful, creating a lovely setting for the occasion. The food was delicious, and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere.
A special mention goes to Holly Smith, who served us with such attentiveness and friendliness. She was incredibly helpful and made sure everything ran perfectly. Her service truly elevated the experience, and I hope she’ll be there when we return for another visit.
We held a dinner party for 15 family members to celebrate my wife's 80th birthday. It was a long time in the planning, working in conjunction with the Conference team at the hotel. That effort, however, resulted in an absolutely marvellous evening which suitably marked the occasion. The quality of the food provided was excellent and the service was both unobtrusive yet attentive. All of our guests were truly impressed not only by the dinner, but also by the quality of the hotel and grounds in general with everyone commenting upon the comfort of the rooms. In conclusion, I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to anyone.
Went to a Christmas party event last night. Could not find a parking space so had to park on a grass verge a long way from the main entrance. The boss had wine put on our tables but we had to request glasses as there were none on the table and then the waiter only brought 6 for a table of twelve ! Food was average. Best bit was the chocolate tart. The band was far too loud. The disco was awful as the base was too high and was banging in our ears. Not impressed.
Second trip this year to this beautiful hotel. My husband booked this as a birthday treat... the hotel, staff and complete experience did not disappoint. The suite was absolutely amazing, the bed was comfortable, bathroom immaculate, clean and we were provided with Penhaligons luxury wash products. I was given an amazing therapeutic hot stone massage treatment by the truly experienced and wonderful 'Bronwyn' - I highly recommend her. I cannot praise her enough for her 'magic'. I felt an overwhelming sense of deep relaxation, calmness, fully energised and refreshed. I slept well, as she said I would.
The grounds are just perfect, the views are magical and walking through the grand entrance is enchanting. Your stay with at the hotel cannot meet a thousand words... I could write a book on just how wonderful the experience was for both my husband and I. Wholly satisfied and highly recommend..x
