Pros:

The hotel is in a great location, just off the High Street, and only a few steps away from it. When I noticed the plaque on the wall, I realized the hotel has a long history dating back to 1858, which was very interesting. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also very generous with plenty of options. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Poor
Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Very old and tired hotel that is in serious need of refurbishment. The first room I was given was directly above the bar, and I could clearly hear the music late into the evening. On top of that, the sash window in the room was broken and would not close properly. I asked to be moved and was eventually given a different room, which was quieter, but the overall condition of the hotel still felt very dated and poorly maintained.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at the hotel and on the whole we have enjoyed each visit.
Pros:

Proximity to the City centre was ideal.
Our room was nice, clean and cosy.
The buffet Breakfast was very good even though the spread is not massive.

Cons:

There was no mini fridge or AC (not that we would have used this on this current stay). This is obviously reflected in the competitive price.

Very pleasant historic hotel in the heart of a lovely city with plenty to do and see.
Pros:

City-centre but in a quiet street. Comfortable room. Lovely breakfast in a pleasant conservatory. Good public spaces on the ground floor including a spacious bar. Very nice staff, helpful when we left our bags behind reception while looking round Winchester.

Cons:

One small niggle in the bedroom. The bedside lights didn't work. Everything else good.
