We stayed last night. Place was clean, safe, well-located. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Sign outside said new owner. By all means, yes, stay here.
The staff is very friendly and the breakfast was good.
Nothing
The staff is very helpful. I had a good night there. This is not my first time-it’s where I stay when I’m in the Macedonia area.
Can’t think of anything.
Room had nice layout, bed was OK, not exceptional. Location was good for our purpose of travell.
The bathroom area around the toilet looked dirty. Looked like hair in the caulking. The shower faucet rumbled like an old locomotive when I turned it on. About 3:30AM, we could hear excessive noise from room above, almost seemed like they were practicing Irish folk dances. At 7:00AM, we could unfortunately hear activities in adjacent room. Felt like there was no insulation between the rooms. Building is older and needs updates. Last but not least, the breakfast area was ok but the selection of cold cereals was Fruit Loops, Raisin Bran and another sugar loaded item, not ideal for older folks.
Terrible experience at this hotel! New management didn’t care- unhelpful and non-responsive! Problems with elevator and desk clerk did not inform. Discovered when we tried to use elevator and I had had foot surgery which made stairs very difficult. Don’t stay here!
Was expecting the worst and am disgusted I let some of the negative reviews stress me out! Facility was far above average, although not quite perfect. Clean, well-appointed, excellent breakfast, pool open and warm, staff pleasant and friendly (supplied me with a forgotten toothbrush). Some signs of rough use (scratched furniture, spots on carpet) but absolutely no signs of mold or unsanitary conditions. New owners and management have made this a good example of the high standards Choice Hotels strive to uphold.
the room was clean the staff was great- our only issue was drapes not closing and light shining in- we will definitely use again
The hotel overall had a very damp, musty smell. Cleanliness was lacking. We were there two days and housekeeping never came to our room.
There wasn't 1 single working ice machine. The people in the rooms around us were still super noisy at 2am. And our room had empty water bottles in it when we got into it.
Reserved a room here for 1 night for its close proximity to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We have generally had good experiences at CI&S. We arrived a bit after 4PM, checked in and unloaded. We noticed the room had a strong dank smell, as if it had been flooded. Opening the door did not help. The hallways and lobby were extremely hot (82 degrees that day), and the A/C unit in the hallway was unplugged. The place looked run down with peeling wallpaper and worn carpet. I went looking for ice. The woman at the front desk was very nice but explained the ice machines were not working. I asked if she could please get some for me from the kitchen. She said there was no ice on the premises. I asked why it was so hot, and she said the A/C was down. I asked if it would be repaired soon. She said, "Maybe in a week." We left the hotel to explore the area & found La Quinta across the highway for a similar price. I asked to view the room there prior to checking in, and I found it was clean, fresh, updated, and with no unpleasant odor. Halls and common areas had A/C, & ice machines were working. We returned to CI&S to politely let them know we were checking out. My husband has a medical condition that is not compatible with staying in a hotel without basic amenities like A/C in common areas and working ice machines. We have never immediately checked out of a hotel due to uninhabitable conditions like this. The woman at the desk was very nice & apologetic, said she would check us out and that the owner would be refunding our $145 "the next morning." The next morning it was not done. Call to the hotel-- "the owner will be doing it." Two days later, still not refunded AND THEY ADDED ANOTHER ROOM $145 CHARGE FOR A SECOND NIGHT. Call to CI&S corporate to lodge a complaint did not help, as they said the local owner would need to run the credit through. We were told we were marked as "no show." This appears to us to be truly unscrupulous business practices. Be warned.
The entire hotel needs a makeover and renovations. My husband got bed bugs.
We won't be back. Elevator was extremely slow and hesitant - nerve-wracking. Hallway on 3rd floor smelled strongly of spicy food that lingered throughout the entire stay, even in the room-was still there in the morning. Room: No clock anywhere in the room. Carpeting was disgustingly dirty, old, worn and clearly hadn't been cleaned/replaced in a LONG time. Pillows were flimsy. Mattress OK but bed frame squeeked with the slightest movement. NO USB ports anywhere to charge phones/devices. TV remote barely operable, obviously very cheap, buttons had to be pushed multiple times to get any response, even with new batteries! Not even a "do not disturb" hanger for the door; a male hotel employee holding a clipboard attempted to enter the room at 8:30 am after knocking very lightly at door - we weren't even certain someone was at our door until we saw the door handle move to be opened. We are 2 women and glad the extra latch prevented his actual entry, but had we been in the bathroom he would have gotten an eyeful through the gap!!! Breakfast: WEAK brewed coffee & the scrambled "eggs" tasted funny as if there was some kind of filler mixed in-disgusting. Parking lot small and full of cracks and potholes. This property obviously cuts every possible corner including several that sacrifice fundamental customer comfort - "only" $110 after tax, still was NOT worth the price. Economic shouldn't have to mean neglectful, dirty, aggravating and uncomfortable. Did not sleep well.
Nice and clean although a little outdated. Perfect for a couple of nights
Nice stay, clean rooms.
Had to ask for clean sheets. The bathroom looked like it was just wiped down and not cleaned. Showered in my shoes. There were kids tjat stayed over top of us that ran allllll day and part of the night. There was a sewage smell leading to the front desk passing the pool. And thankful for free breakfast but the only thing I could eat was a bagel.
Very dirty and I checked in and didn’t have a shower curtain and the ironing board was broken
Beds were clean and comfortable
Breakfast was good
Pool was too cold to use. That is one of the reasons we chose this place.
Carpet in room was stained
Back door did not latch, ??security issue
