Nice and fresh rooms
Staff was nice and sharply organized an iron board and board in my room before arriving at the hotel and only after left a message 50’ prior. Great service
The food is average, good but nothing special especially for the price
Great vibe and location.
Location is great and the room was clean and nicely decorated. However the service was poor with the exception of the bartender. Staff at front desk and coffee shop didn’t smile or engage. Also there is a QR code in the room to tip service staff which is a great idea. However they don’t provide daily housekeeping. If you need to request housekeeping it should be explained in the welcome letter. Coffee and towels, etc are not routinely replenished. I would expect better service for the price.
The Ryder hotel offered everything you could possibly want to enjoy the Charleston experience! From the room to the pool and outdoor terrace, it was fabulous!!
It is a perfect proximity to Charleston nightlife.
And last but not least is the amazing staff that goes the extra distance to meet your needs. Manager Rachael Foxx was exceptional! Highly recommend!
We stayed at the Ryder the last few nights and couldn’t have been happier. It is such a fun, upbeat vibe. Rooms and hotel were so clean and we loved the pool and restaurant. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. We will be back!
We stayed at the Ryder hotel for a nice relaxing girls weekend. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, staff couldn’t have been kinder, and Rachael the hotel manager went above and beyond to make our stay even better. The backyard and fireplace is great for a night cap. Highly recommend!
Bed and pillows were comfortable. Shower was good and hot.
Floors were dirty, large thick black crud on both sides of the bed. Stain on the ceiling over the bed. Not sure why we were charged an amenity fee, if it was for pool use, it was pouring raining and cold, not able to use. $58/day for parking, pretty steep. This hotel was pricey enough without the extra fees that were not disclosed in the Booking.com listing. Our room was overlooking the pool and the windows provided zero buffering from the noise below, including the music I assume was being played from the restaurant. No full length mirror.
Not a pet friendly hotel! There is no place on the property for your pet to relieve themselves! The website does not disclose they do not have a facility for them. After checking in from driving 6 hrs, I asked where do I take my dogs. They said anywhere you can find grass. I said great, no specific designated area. So we proceeded to the beautiful outside bar, I was expecting some place perhaps behind the pool or something? I was told they had to go down the street and across to a 10×10 piece of grass😤REALLY I'm paying over $400.00 a night to walk across the street at all hours to relieve my dogs! I am a lady over 60 traveling solo and never wanted to stay at a "pet approved" hotel and then walk on a busy downtown street at all hours for my dog to pee. When returning back to my drink at the hotel bar, I was approached by a woman who was obviously showing me she had power and authority there at the restaurant and began to chastise me there in the hotel restaurant in front of all guest for me questioning about no dog facilities. Talk about ruining your excited vacation buzz! Also don't get any drinks from the their outside bar, the bartender was so rude and arrogant that I asked for my cocktail to go and me and my dogs went to the room. I spent the two days here never stepping into their restaurant or bar again. I found great services and great food from other places than the Ryder. SHAME ON YOU RYDER! You need better management. You need to change the lies on your website for being pet friendly!! I have visited lots of better hotels, restaurants and at lower and higher prices than this place. This place was a waist of my time and money! Shame on you Ryder as this was a bucket list city for me.
Location was good. All staff very friendly. Comfortable rooms.
The first room in was off bar and music blaring at night could not sleep and then music at bat turned on at 0700 with no one out there. We moved to another room off street with construction and school bus parking and was so loud. Products for hair and body not good. It was very expensive for all the noise. The repairs done in the room and paint job around outlets etc very cheaply done. Could use some soundproof windows or something more than the current.
Great centralized location
Difficult to pull in to access valet parking. Difficult to get a rolling luggage carrier. The check in location is downstairs. Hotel is just set up really weird.
We had an excellent stay at The Ryder Hotel in Charleston—such a fun, stylish spot with a great vibe and perfect location. Everything from the atmosphere to the service made it feel like a true getaway. A special shoutout to Clayton at valet, who went above and beyond and gave us an amazing breakfast recommendation at Miller All Day—it did not disappoint! Can’t wait to come back.
Met Kayla one morning grabbing my coffee, she was a very bright and friendly person. Always so great to start your morning off with a kind word and a friendly smile! Not to mention a delicious cortado!!
The location was perfect, the bed was really comfortable. The staff was nice.
We had room 206 and beware, it is literally in the middle of their outdoor restaurant. We are not opposed to noise, we were there to enjoy the atmosphere also. However 5 days of the music so loud and starting again at 7am when the staff comes to drag tables along the floors was a bit rough.
We reserved a room through the Chase luxury hotel and resort collection. The room we were given upon check-in was the smallest room in the hotel, room 217. The room is too small for one person, let alone two adults and two dogs. We then asked reception for a larger room and were told the other rooms had already been assigned and he couldn’t move us. We then asked if we could speak with a manager and were told that we could speak to a manager tomorrow morning. Since we were leaving the next day, as he well knew, that suggestion was disingenuous at best. Given the cost of the room for the evening (more that $500) and the membership in the Chase program, we were expecting better service. Here is our overall review:
1. Food: the food in the restaurant is subpar. Our appetizer and entree (hummus - bland other than overwhelming garlic, crab cake, just bland and tasteless). My husband was safe having selected the burger. Breakfast this morning was equally subpar. My husband ordered eggs over medium and I ordered the sausage and egg burrito. My husband’s eggs came out very runny and the breakfast burrito was as bland as all the other food.
2. Room: as stated above, the rooms are cramped in the extreme. We have bruised shins and stubbed toes after one night in this room. To move past the bed you need to turn sideways. The room also needs repairs and would greatly benefit from soundproofing. Every sound from the hallway makes its way into the room, including the drunk person in the narrow hallway that banged into our door and slurred “I’m not drunk.” We could also hear the people plugging things in to the outlet in the room next door and every single room door slammed and echoed inside our room. We were exhausted after a very poor night’s sleep.
3. Service: as stated above, the front desk person was unhelpful. The service in the restaurant in the evening was fine while the host at breakfast was a breath of fresh air as were the servers. They were professional and helpful.
4. Irony : There was a yoga mat in the closet which at least provided some comic relief. Where would one even put a yoga mat down in this room if one were so inclined to try to do yoga in here?! A thoughtless detail.
I stayed at the Ryder Hotel over a weekend in March with my mom. First off, location is incredible. I couldn't ask for better! Super central to everything and the staff is amazing on recommending things to do.
Second, the hotel is renovated and super cute. The rooms are great and the price is fair for what you are getting. Additionally, the staff really makes it. Super kind and welcoming from the second we checked in. I now live in Charleston full time, but this is where I recommend all my friends and family to stay when coming to town!
The location cannot be beat! Walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Charleston. The staff at the bar was lovely, and the outdoor area is very Instagram-able. The room was nothing terribly exciting, but comfortable and clean. The alternative options were double the price - we were happy we chose this pick - the value for the money was heads and shoulders above the rest. Good stay!
The location of the Ryder is ideal, very close to great restaurants, bars, shopping and easy walking distance to the beautiful French quarter and the seafront. The Bed was comfy, shower was very good. we had breakfast in the Palm on one morning and the granola, muffin and coffee's were better than expected.
The room wasn't very big. The easy chair in the room wasn't comfortable and the lack of carpet or rugs gave the room a stark, cold feel.
