I stayed at The Ryder for a few days as a solo female traveler and had such a great experience. The hotel is really chic, stylish, and has a fun vibe without feeling over the top. It’s also in a great location for exploring Charleston.
The pool area was definitely a highlight. It filled up pretty quickly during the day, but it had a really social atmosphere and I actually ended up meeting a lot of people there. Since I stayed during the week, it felt much more relaxed than I imagine it would be on a busy weekend, which I loved.
As someone traveling alone, I felt completely comfortable and safe throughout my stay. The hotel had a welcoming energy, and it was easy to strike up conversations or just relax on my own depending on my mood.
If you’re looking for a trendy hotel with a great pool scene and a fun but laid-back atmosphere, I’d definitely recommend The Ryder. I would absolutely stay there again on my next trip to Charleston.
It’s pretty
Rude about the welcome drink could never find a place by the pool because they sell day passes
We had a wonderful stay at The Ryder Hotel in Charleston! The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. A special shoutout to Clayton, the bellman, who was incredibly helpful and personable. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, and the drinks were fantastic. Great location, great service, and a great overall experience. We would definitely stay here again!
location, cleaniness, pool bar, ease of use. Coffee shop. easy to walk to a lot. it was gorgeous.
room was extra small. pool was smaller than we thought. staff were very very nice, but a few times for normal things made us feel like they were new or didnt know basic questions like where can we get water or something to fill up water that is provided on the floors. checkin they couldnt find us and said it was under a wrong name, but my print out listed our correct name for confirmation.
Really cool hotel. Room was very nice and clean. Dual queen beds. Clean bathroom. Restaurant was good: food, service, atmosphere, etc. Staff were all very friendly. Didn't use the pool (it was January) but the property and decor is really nice. Would definitely stay again, and it's a Hyatt property.
front desk people were helpful, as were all the workers.
The outrageous extra fees added on to my bill ($150) to make a $444 booking a $605 total.
Very aesthetically pleasing everywhere you went
The pool bar staff was very friendly but astonishing slow to acknowledge anyone. It would take 10 minutes just to be looked at during the non busy hours. Would take 20 minutes just to get a drink. The food and drink menu was good though.
This was the perfect hotel for a weekend with my friend and our 14 year old girls. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the sites of the city. A youthful, low-key vibe with possibly the most comfortable mattress and pillow I’ve ever used in a hotel. The pool area does fill up quickly and is very popular.
Very close to everything central, clean, modern and coastal vibes. Nice staff. Pool and outside bar were really nice.
Had some plumbing issues but got fixed, AC monitor stated low battery and didn’t work the best overnight, saw a few roaches in the halls but that’s common in humid climates (never in the room), breakfast bar has simple coffee and pastries (if you like a full breakfast not ideal).

The smell is devine. I bought three candles and now my home also smells like The Ryder
The vibe is so welcoming
The staff is super friendly
I love everything about The Ryder
Nothing
Location. The Ryder is all about location. Nestled into downtown one block off King street. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The pool is grungy. They don’t clean inside the pool like they should. There’s a “ring around the tub”. Very good with taking orders, they don’t clean up cups and the like. It was the same experience last time I stayed. I really think they’re short staffed in this department.
Nice and fresh rooms
Staff was nice and sharply organized an iron board and board in my room before arriving at the hotel and only after left a message 50’ prior. Great service
The food is average, good but nothing special especially for the price
Great vibe and location.
