My daughter and I had a series of flight delays and ended up getting into Greenville much later than anticipated. We found this hotel last minute because we were so gassed we didn't want to drive the 2 hours north. And we found this gem in downtown Greenville. Staff was super friendly, especially Cristina (sp?) and we both agreed these might be the most comfy bed and pillow combination of our travels, ever!
This hotel is beautiful and made me feel so well cared for. I reserved a block of rooms for several nights for a wedding. Sarah Blasingame went above and beyond to help with that process. The valet service, both for luggage and for the cars was wonderful. The front desk, restaurant and maid service was all beautifully handled.
I loved arriving back at the hotel each evening to the beautiful lobby with live piano music being played. It all felt so elegant, the perfect backdrop for a wedding weekend.
Clean and beautiful! Everyone as so friendly! Highly recommend this hotel. We will be back.
Superb staff
Particularly Janice Smith who was friendly and gave great assistance on several occasions that saved time and money
She deserves great credit to your company
Our 40th wedding anniversary stay at the Westin Poinsett was remarkable. Thanks to the thoughtfulness of concierge Janice Smith who sent a congratulatory note including, champagne, and chocolate strawberries! And if the was not enough...it was delivered by John B from room service and who performed a stellar vocal rendition of an Elvis Presley classic: Unchained Melody. Thank you for a memorable stay!
Beautiful
Can’t say anything bad
You truly cannot beat the location. It is a beautiful hotel right in the heart of everything, within easy walking distance of restaurants. Unfortunately, the poor customer service at check-in and the subpar housekeeping really overshadowed the experience. The young lady at the front desk—I didn’t see a name tag, but she was the only girl with black hair—was completely unwelcoming, she acted as though checking me in was a major inconvenience.
Housekeeping didn't do a good job either. While our bed was made, everything else looked dirty, it felt like they did the absolute bare minimum and didn't even take out the trash! Because both the front-desk and housekeeping services need significant improvement, I don't know if I will stay here again.
My family took me to the Westin for a Mother’s Day brunch. Our server was young red haired lady named Tessa. She was wonderful very attentive and sweet. She made our whole dining experience amazing. We look forward to our next special occasion at the Westin with her as our server. Thank you Tessa for making Mother’s Day so special!
Its history and location
We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel. We were celebrating 45 years of marriage. We had a fantastic experience. The room was awesome with a comfortable bed and firm mattress. Everything was clean including the bathroom.
The best part of our experience was the concierge Ms. Janice Smith. She was fantastic, very helpful with great information about the hotel and the city of Greenville. Her restaurant recommendations were spot on. We also enjoyed some soulful live music, again based on her suggestions. She is an amazing addition that helped us create wonderful memories for our 45th wedding celebration.
Love staying at this hotel in Greenville. Staff is always wonderful. This time I must acknowledge Melvin in the bar/lounge. My colleague and I returned to the hotel at 9 pm, exhausted and starving. Melvin was such a kind, friendly and welcoming face! Could not have been more efficient with getting our dinner and wine! He needs to be commended for such service. Look forward to return visits.
Beautiful century-old hotel in the heart of Greenville! We are here for our 40th anniversary and we were greeted in our beautiful room with a split of sparkling rose and chocolate covered strawberries plus a sweet note from the concierge, Janice Smith. 🩷
The hotel is so charming and lovely, managing to be right in the middle of the action without being crowded.
Room Service was amazing! John B took great care of us!
Perfect location and beautiful hotel. Concierge Janice was very helpful and friendly. Room service was completely absent. We had 2 rooms for 2 nights ($450 per room per night) and neither room had any service- even after 3 requests at front desk. We also inquired about our rooms with an employee cleaning other rooms on our floor to no avail. Bed linens were frayed and pilled. We’ve tried to reach a manager several times and still haven’t had a return call 1 month later!Extremely disappointing!
I was very pleased with my family’s stay at the Westin POINSETT in Greenville, SC. We came at a particularly busy time for both Greenville and the hotel. The front desk staff managed the crowds of people beautifully. The check in experience can be a deal breaker for me, as customer service is my main focus at upscale hotels. The ladies were very welcoming, warm, and professional- I overheard that a couple of them had just started but you could not tell. Myself and my family were all warmly greeted, the amenities were explained in detail but not drawn out and too time consuming. Whoever is training new hires has done a great job. The hotel itself is beautiful! The classic details are so charming. It does not have modern updates like other hotels in the area but that is not what we came for. We came for the charm and that is exactly what we got- start to finish.
Paid $350/night and returned after a long business day to an uncleaned room. Front desk showed little concern.
Love this hotel there have been updates as well. Situated right in the middle of everything Greenville.
This is a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of Main Street Greenville. It has been renovated but is still somewhat dated. We booked a Junior Suite a month in advance for two nights. I mentioned that we would be celebrating our 59th anniversary while staying with them. I also requested an upper level suite. My understanding from the description was that there would be a walk in shower which is important to me. There was no picture of the bathroom in the room pictures. Upon checking in (with the only service rep that was a bit unfriendly) we were assigned a room on the second floor overlooking the courtyard which is where all arriving and departing guests were. Our junior suite was really more of a slightly larger room with a sofa and chair near the wall and the bed. Nothing like the picture on the website. Pros: a nicely updated bathroom but it had a tub - not a walk in shower, a bed that was pretty comfortable, and a nice supply of bottled water. Also we ordered carafes of coffee each morning and it came quickly with very sweet and enthusiastic employees . The cookies in the afternoon were delicious. All service personnel were friendly and helpful except for the initial clerk who checked us in. Cons: The closet door would not stay open on its own. We finally had to park a piece of luggage to hold the door while we unpacked so it didn’t hit us in the rear constantly. The room was so dark that we had to turn on every lamp plus open the drapes to make it tolerable. There was no light at all in the corner where the coffee station was located so I had to use my phone flashlight to see what I was doing. There was no acknowledgment of our anniversary at all. There was only one robe in the bathroom although two were mentioned in the description. The doors on the TV console did not align and needed to be pushed hard in order to close. Nothing was terrible but we paid an exorbitant amount for staying there two nights and expected more from the #1 rated hotel in Greenville. On a bright note, we would recommend Soby’s for dinner. It is just across the street from the hotel and was amazing. We would likely not stay at the Marriott Poinsett again but we did enjoy our trip to Greenville.
