Beautiful historic building with modern amenities.
Great location - easy access in/around the city without being in a congested neighborhood.
Excellent breakfast!
Everything. The Staff, location and bar were amazing! Enjoyed the fab cocktails, the lobby and the luxurious rooms. Will stay there again and again!
Air con was broken unfortunately.
The location is exceptional; the staff are friendly and efficient; the breakfast was excellent; we loved the bar and the daily complimentary drink; the lifts were plentiful (odd I know but many hotels lack in this area).
My third visit so this in essence says it all.
As a frequent London visitor (4-5 times year), I’ve always wanted to stay at this beauty of a property. And while the property is indeed beautiful; the details that I would expect from this caliber of a property were just not there. Perhaps my fault for having too high of expectation; perhaps the sign of declining standards; perhaps a combo of both, I truly have to say “meh” to the value vs reality of the stay so far. I arrived early and while the proper check in time was understood, it was said a text or message would arrive when the room was available. No message came. I returned after 4pm asking about readiness and was handed keys without pause. After check in, I went to the bar and ordered cocktails. Both were subpar and additions were done to try to fix them as opposed to just making something different with an explanation of how recipes may differ. Bottled water was asked and paid for and regular tap water was used to refill glasses with bottled water still left. Instead of replacing, a shrug of the shoulder was given. This was/is day 1. On the surface, these small infractions seem meaningless. And in the grand scheme of hospitality and life, they really are “petty” indeed; but for a property that is supposedly top notch, that is supposed to be a step above the ordinary; this stay has been anything but that and just sadly disappointing.
One of our favourite hotels in London - beautiful decor, great cocktail bar, lots of lovely little touches like the tuck box in your room and the staff are always great - we would go again and again.
The Fitzroy is a lovely, luxury hotel. The lobby is gorgeous. The rooms are extremely spacious with gorgeous bathrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Excellent staff. All felt very professional.
The location and hotel are fabulous, the rooms and very nice if a bit small.
From check in to amenities to dining and the bar - I will never stay anywhere else in London. I am always so appreciative of the care shown to all guests and selfishly, to me! Thank you to the front desk who must have decided I was looking ragged and gave me a resting room whilst mine was being prepared to take a much needed nap. The bar is one of my favorite cocktail scenes, given the great vibes, great bartenders and interesting color spectrum of drinks. To all on staff, thank you for always providing such a wonderful stay. Until next time!
Great location, nice room, solid gym.
Pricey. It is London, but it is expensive and not quite that elite for such a price.
Kimpton Review:
A Month at the Kimpton Fitzroy, and Sorry to Leave
We have just returned from a month at the Kimpton Fitzroy, and we were genuinely sorry to go. We were having renovations done to our home, and this was the perfect retreat. The level of service was extraordinary from the first day to the last, and by the end the staff felt less like a hotel team and more like friends.
The location is hard to beat. The hotel sits in the heart of Bloomsbury, directly across from picturesque Russell Square, with the British Museum and central London a short walk away. The building itself is beautifully appointed and impeccably maintained, the kind of grand period property that still feels warm and lived in rather than merely impressive.
The people are what set this hotel apart. Sarah in reservations could not have been more helpful in arranging our accommodations, and she set the tone before we ever arrived. At the concierge desk, Joseph, Marco, and Ben were unfailingly knowledgeable and gracious with every request, large or small. All the doorman, particularly Thomas and Alex went out of their way for us time and again, and the rest of the door team were every bit as capable and friendly.
At breakfast and dinner, the servers and managers became part of the rhythm of our stay. Kadir, Chylita, Fedro, Lena, Lida, Tolga, Jude, and Johnnie all looked after us with genuine care, and we came to look forward to seeing them each day. Mick in maintenance was remarkably responsive and helpful whenever anything came up, always quick and good humored about it.
We cannot rate the Kimpton Fitzroy highly enough. It is a beautiful hotel in a wonderful setting, but it is the staff who made our month there memorable. We are already looking forward to returning soon.
Stayed in a Premium Queen Room on the fifth floor in May. While the exterior and common areas mainly have fantastic architecture, it was hard to detect anything particularly premium about my room.
The bedroom was fairly average sized for London, and while the bathroom was quite large comparatively, a lot of it was dead space.
I did get a bath rather than a shower, but the shower screen didn't stay in place, and the bath seemed oddly slow to drain. No individual toiletries, these continue to grow increasingly rare even at this price point. The pump toiletries provided seemed fairly average and also to require more pumping than usual to get a decent amount of product.
The bedroom seemed fairly average for London with a view of the courtyard and seemed underlit at night even with all the lights on.
Breakfast was extensive and good, although the american bacon was rather overdone for me.
The location is quite good, particularly if you are intending to use the tube as the Russell Square tube station is just around the corner. However at this price point, you can stay somewhere more centrally located in a better room, so I doubt I'll be rushing back anytime soon.
