Great location. Attended for a wedding
We were supposed to stay the night but ended up going home. The weather that day was extremely hot and the rooms had no air conditioning. It was like a sauna in the room and the heating was on in the bathroom, which was not possible to turn off.
Lovely location. Beautiful views from very large bedroom easy free parking
Requested shower only bathroom not shower over bath but would have had to pay more to get that.
Great rural location with excellent spa at additional charge.
No air conditioning in room
The rooms are a good size and clean. the staff are friendly and efficient. There is an excellent gym. Breakfast has a good selection. We had air con in our room
The hotel is corporate without charm, despite efforts of the staff to be cheerful. The single beds are small. It was an extra £20 per person to swim in the pool for one session.
It is in a beautiful location.
It is very tired. I was surprised that it didn’t have USB ports in all of the rooms and no air conditioning in most. A friend stayed in a room that stated it had air conditioning- it didn’t work. The TV in our room was the size of a small computer monitor? Really not good enough.
We liked the setting and they handled our refund quickly and efficiently.
When we attended it was a very hot day. We checked in, went to our room which was on the top floor. We immediately noticed the room was stifling hot with the roof window left open letting all the heat in. My wife went to bathroom to freshen up and noticed the towel rail was heated and left on. We went to reception to ask for a different room and get the towel rail switched off. The staff member David who did his best to help out attended the room to sort the towel rail out and bring some ice for the fan.
We then went to dinner and the food was very nice. Unfortunately there were large groups of men who were basically 50yr+ inbetweeners. The homophobic and sexist conversations were loud and the staff made no attempt to ask them to tone it down.
We want back to our room, the ice cubes in the fan had no impact and the towel rail was still on!!!!!! I attempted to phone to reception and the phone was broken. I phoned down on my mobile and they said they would contact maintenance team.
It was unbearable and we decided to checkout and go to a Premier Inn 15 miles away which was fantastic.
We visited this hotel 10yrs ago and had an amazing stay. It was really sad to see how much it has declined. Needs significant investment to maintain its 4* rating.
Yes
The grass needed to be mowed
Pleasant hotel. Great for parking. Room was a good size and easily accessible via lifts or stairs. The bar area was comfortable (air con). We didn't eat but others in our group tried the bar menu for Burger and Pizza and these were reasonably priced, ample portions and good quality. One of our group is a golfer who commented that the course was excellent. We didn't try any of the other facilities as we were attending a wedding and didn't get the opportunity so I can't comment on those.
Other than the Bar area there is no air conditioning. The rooms and corridors were literally stifling. I'd checked the day before and discovered the lack of air con so we took our large fan from home which helped slightly. The hotel did provide a fan but this was as useful as an asthmatic trout. You get air con at budget hotels like Premier Inn and Travelodge so the lack of this facility during hot weather was frustrating. I had breakfast on day one and this was below average buffet fayre. Fried egg came out woefully overcooked. Didn't bother on day two.
The room was big clean and comfort. The entrance and areas were all welcoming
Lovely surroundings
The bedroom was far too hot. Air con did. It work and the fan proceeds nothing to reduce the heat. There was a French door
In the room but was locked and unable to
Open which would have helped reduce the heat slightly. Air conditioning was working in other parts of the hotel so the rooms should have been sorted or at least an apology or offer of water when checking in
Clean comfortable room warm friendly professional staff. Good selection of food at breakfast
Shower over bath adeqaute but not easy to use. Most hotels I have stayed in have walk in showers with up to date controls.
Staff were welcoming and available, the room was well presented, clean and easy to find, breakfast was also good
Good selection for breakfast.
Nothing of note.
