Wow I really hope someone from head office sees this review and rewards the night team. Travel lodge has just taken over this hotel. We had been for a night out, arrived back at 1am. The 2 men on the night shift were absolutely phenomenal. They had had 2 days training. They went over and above to make us food. They were so friendly! These two men are an absolute credit to you. We didn’t get their names but were on nights on 25th October. Thank you for making our stay! Hotel just being refurbished. Only 20 rooms available. Lots of building work still going on. Would come again just for the friendliness of the staff.
Great location just off M6 and easy parking. Good value but not exceptional. Everything fits this price point
Location to where we were working.
Rooms were ok, except one had damp on lots of walls, car park not so good for vans. They have a lot of coach parties so both nights there was over an hour wait for food, so best to go early. Not so good if you’ve been working hard all day, had to go out for food. More of a budget hotel but not for the pieces we paid sadly
Large room with basic facilities, close to motorway, ideal stop over during long journey if all you require is somewhere to rest and sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Dirty stained carpet and sofa in the room and bad smell. Rooms need a deep clean or refurbishment.
Reading some of the reviews here I wasn't quite sure what to expect and arrived with some trepidation, I was however pleasantly surprised. In terms of fitting the bill for a reasonably priced motorway stop off it did exactly what was required. The car park had plenty of safe, well lit, secure spaces. The room was decent and up to the standard expected, there was little to no ambient noise (IE traffic, slamming doors or noisy people). The beds were comfortable. The hotel is dog friendly and they made a fuss of my dog. The pub was next door was closed for food, so we ate in the hotel, the menu was limited but very good, food to a high standard, actually some of the best Pizza I've had in a while! The staff were friendly and even gave me some plasters the following morning for the journey. For the price I thought it was very good!
Some have mentioned the carpets throughout could do with replacement, which indeed they could but that was the only minor negative - tbh it didn't affect my stay.
Location
The beds were hard, no hair dryer, no tea spoons or milk in room, bibles in room
Value for money and well located
Limited food provision but at least a pub next door
Nothing was good
Room was very dated, dirty and very smelly, hallways were smelly, bedding had holes in
Badly in need of renovation carpets definetly need replaced, when it's warm it's hard to sleep with window open as road noise was quite loud, especially ambulance sirens as I think there is a hospital close to it
Location
Rooms were in a very poor state, carpet stained everywhere
Easy to get to and clean and the staff were very friendly
Curtains didn’t close as they were hanging off the sink didn’t drain properly and no hairdryer plus it was very noisy
Location
Nothing
