Could have been great!
Pros:

Hotel was a ten minute walk from the train station. Arrived at 10:45 AM but unable to check in until 2:30pm. Wasn't a problem as hotel kept our bags and we went off to explore for a few hours . Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Free coffee and cakes from 12pm so had a cup of coffee before we set off. Hotel is in an excellent location . Also offer free bikes to use. Came back and checked in later. We were in room 103 overlooking the road. Room was very clean and met our needs. Nice amenities in bathroom and lovely big towels . Complementary bottle of water provided. One of the biggest pluses was free prosecco, beers, cokes and snacks between 5 and 7pm. Had a beer before heading out for evening meal. Arrived back and were in bed by 10pm as shattered and had early start next morning.
What we then endured was the worst nights sleep I or my wife have ever had the misfortune to have. Soundproofing is absolutely non existent. Heard someone taking a wee, then snoring etc etc. heard every single person walking past outside the room. Noise from absolutely everywhere which appeared to be amplified. We then had the rest of the night to listen to all of this. Hotel really should address this. Provide earplugs if you have to!! I don't like to be critical because our stay was lovely in nearly every other way but this had to be stated. Breakfast was between 7 and 10:30 the next morning. It was very good and there was plenty of variety including scrambled eggs, fresh fruits, coffee to order etc etc. Very tasty.
This was heading towards a 5 star review......and then the night came.....

Fantastic location. The staff was great, breakfast great, lovely free happy hour, room itself was beautiful

Cons:

The room was warm and a bit difficult to control the temperature, the bed was also too hard for us. Having said that, everything else about the room and room he property more than made up for that

A great break and good hotel.
Pros:

The hotel is conveniently situated to access all the pleasures of the small city, just inside the walls and a walkable distance from the station although a taxi is recommended if you have luggage. Reception staff were most obliging. The buffet style food and drink available in reception was very welcome on arrival and after a day out and about. A prosecco at happy hour was also enjoyable.
We have stayed in other properties in Lucca (hotel and airBnB and this was a much better option. Thanks to the Ilania staff.

Cons:

The hotel is small and therefore the breakfast room is also very small and became very crowded - while the food offerings were good there was little sapce or incentive to linger over a second coffe. In the summer when the terrace is open things will be much better.

Loved the daily hospitality and snacks! Met a lot of nice people while enjoying them!
Pros:

The location was perfect. Close to the wall for a nice walk, close to attractions, but far enough away from the noise.

Cons:

Would like to be on a higher floor in the tower next time!

The hotel is lovely, centrally located and a perfect spot to stay while exploring Lucca.
Pros:

The location was great, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was the largest we had while traveling in Italy. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were kind. Highly recommended Hotel Ilaria!

Cons:

The arrival and parking instructions changed from when we booked our room to when we arrived, but we were not notified. The hotel is located in a ZTL and they knew we were driving because we had reserved a parking space. The directions we received led us to a ZTL
and we had learned that we should never
drive into a ZTL. Because no one
answered the phone, we had to find a
parking spot outside of the ZTL, walk to
the hotel and talk to the front desk. Then
we were asked how long ago did we make
our reservation because the arrival
information had changed. If they had messaged us the new instructions prior to our arrival, check in would have been much smoother and less frustrating.

Best place to stay in Lucca
Pros:

Everything! The staff is amazing, the breakfast had so many options to chose from it was crazy! Parking at the hotel made it so easy. Right in the middle of everything and only a few steps from the wall etc. they had happy hour with free prosecco and snacks, they had free bikes to use. This place has thought of everything. They will even make dinner reservations and get you into the best restaurants.

Cons:

The bed was a little firm for me but my husband loved it

A hidden little gem
Pros:

Lovey hotel just inside the walls of the old city, perfect location just away from the tourist crowds. Everything was catered for, we even had someone park our car for us.Staff were very friendly and helpful. We took advantage of their free bikes and rode around the wall, a great way to see the whole inner city. The little buffet available in the lobby outside breakfast hours was a nice little extra. Whilst the room was on the small side, it was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely consider going back if we return to Lucca.
