Extremely rude staff
Extremely rude staff
The hotel was beautiful. I loved that it was part of a converted railway depot. The entire Mill District was a great place to stay. The staff was extremely efficient and friendly. I would come again in a heartbeat and stay longer! We came for the purpose of seeing the Detroit Tigers play the Twins at Target Field. The whole rest of the city awaits!
We had one problem. However, it didn't spoil the overall stay. We had to leave early in the morning (6:00 a.m.) on Saturday in order to make it to the ferry in Milwaukee to cross Lake Michigan. There is only one ferry per day, and we timed it perfectly. When we went to retrieve our car, there was no valet on duty, so we asked the person at the front desk how to pick up the car. She directed my husband to go to the car park and pick it up himself. No problem--EXCEPT--he could not get out of the garage. The bar across the exit would not respond to anything he did to get it to open. He followed the directions, but nothing worked. Nobody was down there to help. It was pouring rain, and he got drenched. I finally called him because we were running late by then. He told me his dilemma. I asked the front desk what else we should do. She called the Renaissance Residence Inn, and someone there manually got the bar up to clear the way so my husband could leave. That put us on the road 1/2 hour late, and he didn't even have time to put on dry clothes. It was nerve-wracking trying to make it to the ferry on time. (We made it without a moment to spare.)
This was our first visit to Minneapolis and we were just in town overnight. Our train from Seattle arrived in St.Paul early in the morning and so we arrived at the hotel well before the check-in time, hoping just to drop our bags off, but to our delight the very helpful receptionist said the room was ready and we could check in straight away, which was really great. We'd booked a deluxe king room which was spacious and clean. After settling into our room and getting a nice hot shower (been two nights on a train prior to that) we spent the day walking miles around the city, and loving it. Would definitely stay here again when we come back to Minneapolis.
Nothing really.

A little too expensive and you have to pay to park
It felt like a nice hotel until we got to the room which was just OK, except the bathroom was rather disappointing. The curved shower curtain rod was installed improperly or worn out and leaning down such that the shower curtain kept falling towards the center allowing water to easily escape the shower on the sides. The showerhead had lots of buildup and had clearly not been cleaned recently; it also sprayed hard and remarkably wide, which exacerbated the aforementioned problem with the curtain rod. The toilet bowl was stained. It would have felt on par with peers if the complementary internet service was capable of basic streaming capabilities, but it was really quite weak and I ended up falling back to the Netflix service provided through the Hotel's TV interface.
We liked the location near the river and US Bank Stadium.
Having to go to the front desk to get our breakfast passes each morning to be told our rate did not include breakfast. The staff failed to update the notes which was supposed to include breakfast and had to argue with the property and show them my Booking.com confirmation.
My only complaint is no hot tub and the shower had a weird constant squeaking noise. Otherwise 10/10 would stay again.
